So I finished my game playing just now and thoroughly enjoyed the game. I hadn't played the game in a while and really just enjoyed driving everywhere and seeing the incredible scope of this game. This game is huge, it take forever to drive from one end of the map to the other. This game is a milestone in video games and it can be seen by how many open ended games are coming out now. There are so many things that someone can do in this game its incredible. From driving, biking, motorcycling, helicopter flying, plane flying, jetpack flying and those are only the transportations in the game. The development for this game is amazing and it must have taken years to really be able to perfect all of it, which is incredible because us students taking this class can come up with a game in only a matter of a few weeks. Video games are truly amazing in every aspect of them and I for one really enjoy them all.

So I begin playing the one of the most controversial games ever made and I enjoy the hell out of it. There is no better way of letting out stress than just playing this game for a good hour. But as I keep playing this game it makes me think of how far games have come since they were first created. Pong which is widely considered to be the very first video game made was such a simple game and when someone plays a game like GTA San Andreas its astounding how far video games have come. Pretty much anything the player wants to do in this game is possible. Its no wonder why video games now are being talked about in congress and other high ranking government establishments. The realism that these games bring now makes it no wonder why they are raising alarms in the nations capital. Especially in a game where you can kill pretty much every person you ever see. It comes down though not to congress or the children that play the game but to their parents. It is the parents fault for being irresponsible and not checking to see what types of games their children are playing. Games like GTA San Andreas are supposed to be played only by older people. So I finish this part of the game log by exclaiming that even though if you think about it the ethics and morals of this game are horrible it is extremely fun.

    Jan 31st, 2007 at 14:09:38     -    Super Smash Brothers (N64)

So as I continue to play Super Smash Brothers i realize just how much strategy there is to this game. A lot more than the normal Fighting game. Each character has their own special traits and abilities and depending on how the players play specific characters are better suited for them. For example Donkey Kong is just a huge guy and really strong but pretty slow so quicker characters could hit him many more times than he could hit them, but if he connects with one of his super punches than it's basically lights out for the other characters. Pikachu on the other hand is extremely quick but his attacks don't do that much damage, he is better suited for more experienced players that understand many of the different aspects of the game. Then there are characters that are basically in the middle like Mario and Link. As I continue to play this game I realize that it must have been a pretty big risk for Nintendo to have their flagship characters that have always been more child oriented than anything in a fighting game. This really could have backfired for them, but it turned out to be really good for them and now this game has spawned into a series that will continue to be on future systems.

    Jan 31st, 2007 at 14:03:18     -    Super Smash Brothers (N64)

Okay so for this gamelog I busted out the old nintendo 64 to play some Super Smash Brothers. This game is a lot different from most other fighting game for a varitey of reasons. First instead of the norm of 1 on 1 fighting this game gives you the option of up to four fighters going at it at once. Also instead of having a normal health bar this game has a percentage for each characters that goes up everytime that the character is hit and instead of dying or passing out you have to throw your opponent off of the level in which everyone is fighting. I remember the first time I played this game and how much different it was for me than any other fighting game I had ever played. I couldn't stop playing it I enjoyed it so much. This game caught on with many people and is one of the most fondly remembered games on the N64. It's still played today by many people. I believe that the replay value for this game is so big because of the originality of it, and also you can beat up all the famous Nintendo characters which is always great.
