    Mar 6th, 2008 at 05:31:06     -    Half-Life 2 (PC)

    Gameplay:
The second hour of gameplay was similar to the first, however the developers were able to maintain the game fresh while keeping the game the same. My emotional state became heightened as I got more engrossed in the story line. The enemies become scarier and the plot becomes more interesting as you start to find out more and more things about the game world.

    Design:
The main aspect of Half-life 2 that is paramount to the design is the physics. The gravity gun is a great example of this. It allows you to throw almost all objects in the game and pull them towards you. In general the game allows you to interact with almost everything in the game. The levels in the game are what really keeps the player coming back for more. The game is almost as if it is made into sections. Each section has something else to offer, i.e. new enemies, guns, or layouts. The games reward structure is advancing through levels, discovering more about the story and just killing bad guys and staying alive.

    Mar 6th, 2008 at 04:57:10     -    Half-Life 2 (PC)

    Summary:
Half Life 2 is a first person action adventure shooter game. The character controls Gordon Freeman who must battle his way through various levels, collecting various types of weapons and complete level challenges such as flipping switches or figuring out where to go next.

    Gameplay:
My emotional state in the first hour of half-life 2 was greatly influenced by the ability of the game to immerse one into the game world right from the start. It plays out like an indepth movie in certain parts. I felt engrossed in the game and it was hard to stop playing at many points. The games story and character development are not explicitly told, which is a great aspect of the gameworld that draws you in. The game is just as if you were Gordon Freeman and you were having to figure things out on your own, from other people, signs etc. The Gameplay was fun and provided new challenges with tons of types of enemies and weapons that provide many facets of play. The game isn't really a social interaction game. I found that playing the game at night with headphones on really immersed me in the game and made the game much more exciting and scary.

    Feb 21st, 2008 at 01:57:13     -    Wii Sports (Wii)

    Entry 2:
Gameplay: The second time I played the game wasn't much different from the first because the game doesn't change from play session to play session. Although by playing single player you can make earn your character pro mode which, I suppose gives you prestige while playing against friends. The game is interesting because everyone handles the wii mote differently and its also fun to get up and move around with your friends. The social interactions were similar friends would trade off to play the different games and laugh, the game has great replay value.
    Design:
The most innovative element of the game is the wii mote. I don't think this game would be popular at all if there wasn't motion sensor technology and the player was forced to use a standard controller. The game is not necessarily what keeps the player interested, it is the social environment which it creates that is fun for the players. They designed the game well to appeal to almost anyone. The game is designed well enough to be sensitive to the players input so that it isn't random and the players can vary in skill level which is important for replay value.

    Feb 21st, 2008 at 01:44:43     -    Wii Sports (Wii)

    Entry 1:
    Summary:
Wii sports is a revolutionary sports game that uses the wii mote (controller) to simulate the actions of the sports with motion sensing technology. The games included are tennis, bowling, boxing, golf, and baseball. Although you can play single player, the objective seems to be to interact with friends through competition.
    Gameplay:
Wii sports was fun to play because it makes the player feel like they are playing the actual sport. The wii mote, is fun to use because you are swinging the "bat" or bowling the "ball". The social interactions of the game are great. Players of all ages can enjoy this game. I played all of the games with my friends and the competitive environment is intense even though the game is light hearted and fun. The characters in the game are fun, because you create them so you get attached to them and it makes the playing experience more personal. There really isn't a plot in the game it is just a few mini games.
