In the wake of such destruction and desolation, the nations rallied together and assembled the Institute of War, a multinational governing body that would settle all disputes and put an end to centuries-old fighting. Within the Institute of War lies the League of Legends, where powerful magic users and delegates from each realm assemble to vie for the chance to rule the land. There are no long-winded speeches or ornately drafted documents. Conflicts are resolved on the Fields of Justice, where head-to-head combat between teams of highly trained champions decide the fate of the universe. The stakes are high with the balance of power shifting with every victory or defeat. With the lives of millions of citizens on the line, there is only one rule among those in the league: Winner rules all. (credit: warcry.com) ======= EXPERIENCES ======= League of Legends is best described to myself as a time-consuming Pandora’s box, when you open the box, you never know whether you’re going to have a pleasant evening with friends and persons on the internet or whether you’re going to be transformed into a swirling vortex of hate. A slight extreme I would say but it does tend to accurately describe my feelings towards the game when the matchmaking system pairs me with level 10s to face a full premade of level 30s who you know will brag about how easy the game was to win, even if it came close. You won? Oh you just some lucker noob who should l2p (learn to play). As you might have gathered, this game is not very friendly towards people who are new to the game or the MOBA genre, perseverance is a skill you will require to get through the later levels of the game, for the early days this game can be very enjoyable but be aware, due to the free-to-play nature of this game (which is awesome by the way), you’ll find some people making what you would call smurf accounts which are basically level 1 accounts made by people who are level 30, it’s very easy to tell who these people are because of the way they bait the newer players through their actions or through the all-chat, leading to easy kills for the smurfs and the psuh the snowball down to gain momentum. The other issues I’ve had all circulate around server stability and my internet connection skydiving with a boulder for a parachute. Despite its faults, League of Legends is a game that I do enjoy playing, it’s characters, the world that they live in and the story behind it all enthral me, some of the people that you meet on here, as well as being competent are occasionally quite nice people, you make friends and enter into premades which are about 10x the fun as you can be well assured that none of your teammates are either leavers/afks, feeders (people who constantly get killed) or trolls. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this game, it’s that it is difficult to have fun in the solo queue unless you’re winning but there is endless entertainment value in the premades. ======= STUPIDITY (HINTS AND TIPS) ======= 1) NEVER INSTANTLY LOCK IN ON YOUR FAVOURITE CHARACTER/ SQUISHY, people don’t tend to react very kindly to that, especially if that character isn’t a part of the metagame. 2) There are some characters that you don’t pick, why? Because they aren’t part of the metagame 3) If you are the last person who picks in Ranked, you are the tank, deal with it. 4) Never try characters for the first time in Ranked mode, you will probably get reported and banned for costing your team the game. (Even if you won, you’ll be called a noob and told to go play tetris). Game Rating: 8.5/10 (This entry has been edited1 time.
