shoover's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=1474Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Wed, 12 Oct 2011 01:50:36https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4796Well its day 3 and I am on a ravaging killing spree that I thought I could never be on. Its strange because I know for a fact that 15 people died and about 40-50ish were injured. Ive killed well over 50-60. I guess not everything about the gameplay is realistic. The bodies with blood all over them now that's a real treat. I like to see what my bodies look like after blood and gush. After we both kill each other (As that actually does happen), apparently a new level in the game allows you to go to hell and shoot demons. I didnt make it very far so I just left it at that, my 30 minutes were over. So whats the ethical framework now? Now our actual killers are in hell killing demons? Did I miss something? I thought this was a POV lesson learned type deal in realistic perspective. Now we are to believe that hell exists and right now both kids are shooting demons still enjoying what they do even in the afterlife? I cant think of what i'm trying to learn now. Oh well.Wed, 12 Oct 2011 01:50:36 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4796&iddiary=8917Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Mon, 10 Oct 2011 18:52:37https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4796Well its day 2 and I am at the part that I'm sure everybody was looking forward to, that is the shooting. I get to my first victim after we realize that the car bombs were not going off, oh hey you go free... I guess? Alright next person, now weve engaged.. A jock. Alright time to shoot and kill. I did that. That was basically the entire phase 2 of this game, find the people that were panicing and shoot them. They were all panicing. Janitors, Openly Gay Guy, Black Kid, Church Kid, Even Prom Queen took a 1 shot shotgun to the face and died instantly. I started to wonder about the Ethical Framework posted in this game. What ethical framework? I don't ever recall this people my enemies. But wait then again in other games where if we engage the 'enemy' they will attack, whether its first or second. These people are attacking me first or second. Should I shoot back? Is this what I was taught, that even in real life simulators, the rules of other games apply to this one. Shoot to kill because they are our enemies. But they were our enemies because we were shooting at them and they were resisting. I don't think that happened so much in the real Columbine Masscare, the 2 students didn't look at the student, shot them, then the other person fought back. Oh well, about 50-60 kills later I was done for the day.Mon, 10 Oct 2011 18:52:37 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4796&iddiary=8875Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Sun, 09 Oct 2011 16:45:47https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4796Well this is the 2nd time that I've played Super Columbine Massacre RPG. The 1st time I played it is when I was interested in the events of Columbine about 3-4 months ago. This time I'm playing it with a background and bias towards the types of ethics that I am presented with. I only spent my 30 minutes doing everything and all additional bonuses that lead up to planting the bombs behind the cafeteria. After reading the dialogue and using it to set up the heroes of the game, I notice that this game has no intention of teaching the player a lesson. This game was clearly for the point of view of the two shooters, Eric and Dylan. Everything is presented in a progressive manner with real times (and estimated actions based on the families and notes that were written and left for evidence.) They attempt to make it a bit more point of view realistically by adding stuff that was actually erased (thus catching 22 of deleting stuff that only they know yet was presented in the game as if it was found). They swore alot. I dont think anything as far as playing a 'hero' was presented. This was clearly a game where the player lets out his anger on other objects. They do a good job of dressing it up for people that havent heard of Columbine, but for the rest of the people that do know it, its all about reliving the experience and going in 1 direction. No interactive dialogue is presented, just go with what they actually said. Load up weapons, take car, go to school, present yourself with the objective of killing people. Theres no positive, Kant, or Utilitarism ethics presented here. Its all negative and violence from here.Sun, 09 Oct 2011 16:45:47 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4796&iddiary=8863Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) - Wed, 28 Sep 2011 01:14:22https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4750Well its Day 3. Lets see if my mind is in the right place and get some work done. So I use the same game file as I did in day 2 and notice that there was some stuff I can do. The first thing that I did was get into an empty car and drive. I controlled myself so that I could do stuff legitimately but with all the people hovering around me thinking I will do something wrong, it made me even more nervous. I just drove around and see what kinds of stuff caught my attention. I stop by the fast food place and order food for $5. The way the cashiers acted they sounded like they didnt want to work there. On my way out I accidently hit I believe R2, which targetted someone. They looked at me and I hit another button. I rotated my fists with a knife and then thats when things got complicated. More people came up, started talking smack, then they put their hands in the air. I just said "Screw it" and stabbed them. The police came, I got in, chased around the cops until I got arrested. Same thing over and over again. I guess I can take this game a bit more serious then I thought at first. If I had done nothing wrong, I could do stuff normally. Games usually dont offer this much "Friendly Fire", but when you have a knife out, of course people will get scared and run away. Usually if the weapon is out who cares, only until it gets shot then people panic. I suppose the whole "Life lessons and ethics that you see in a game" really applies ironically. Thats what that looks like in the form of a game. Run around with weapons and cops will come out and shoot you.Wed, 28 Sep 2011 01:14:22 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4750&iddiary=8822Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) - Mon, 26 Sep 2011 21:45:12https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4750Well its been a few days but I decided I should try out Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas out again. This time I tried it on a gamesave that my roomate had completed a while ago. It seemed like the game was complete already. I had walked in the middle of nowhere, looking like I had no linear path just as if I was satisfied with my life and I was going to do okay. I wanted to have some fun so I thought id test out and see if I could push myself to doing stuff I know I sure as hell wouldnt do in real life. THe first thing I did was, like last time, go up to random strangers and beat up someone. Oddly enough I kicked the crap out of her, but other people around her came up to me and started to pick fights with me. I had a knife so I won every fight. It felt really weird how a bit more realistic this was then the last time I played this game. I wouldnt know very many people that would still attempt to challenge someone with a knive but hey they were in great numbers. After that the police came up to me and I stabbed the officer and took his motorcycle. I wanted to see how many cops I could round up in a single session before I died. I got up to about 5 to 6 before they started shooting and hiting me. I was shocked to find out that I didn't lose the game, rather I just went outside to a Police Station with all of my money with me. Is this right to put it in the game? If kids and teens can be convinced that some of the stuff they put in there can lead up to what actually happens, do they have to lie by making it look like you just "go to the police station and you're set"? I thought we were supposed to learn these games boundaries and practices and take in what they cannot do that we can. They cannot go to jail and game over?Mon, 26 Sep 2011 21:45:12 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4750&iddiary=8784Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) - Fri, 23 Sep 2011 17:04:12https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4750When I First played this game, I knew exactly what I was getting into it. A stereotyped non-Caucasian type game where it is all about living in the streets and using violence, prostitution, and theft as your mediums to survive in the society. After playing this game for 30 minutes, boy was I right. I understand this game is supposed to have fight mechanics, but does that really mean that they can ALL be used on EVERYTHING. I first learned to ride a bike, which I dont know what that was supposed to mean, and after that I just took off finding some guy named CJ or whatever. I saw all these people and figure they could help me, but of course no reactions to them. I press O and I punch them. Hey that sounds fun. They are fighting back, lets beat this hooker up (She was dressed like one, if not wow the stereotypes sure go far) and get some points. Hey I got her money, I guess thats good enough. I get arrested immediately. I guess that means I lost. Oh well back to finding CJ. 10 minutes later I found myself being chased by a drive by shooter. I couldnt really understand what they are talking about and why I was being shot at (LOL ANOTHER STEROTYPE), so I just avoided and did some manuevers on my bike (Yes a riding bike, not like a Harlem, ANOTHER STEREOTYPE LOL). But that wasnt enough as I hit the pole and fell off. I rushed to get into a car, but it was occupied, so LOL MORE STEROTYPES, I beat the living sh*t out of the person and threw them off the car and LOL there I go. I just did some biking and then after that I stopped playing. 35-40 minutes wasnt too bad. This game really does bring out the reality as I really did feel like I did what any normal black or mexican was stereotyped to do at this time day and location. This game better be more original or entertaining in the lesser reality side the next time I play this.Fri, 23 Sep 2011 17:04:12 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4750&iddiary=8755
