The action is very well done, as Link swings his sword when the player swings the wii remote and shoots his arrows where the player aims the remote. This use of motion controller is done very well, as there is no point throughout the game where either it will be a nuisance to the player. The puzzle solving and platforming is also engaging and fun to do, as they are not too simple or difficult. The boss battles are also very engaging, as the player needs to avoid its attacks while trying to find its weak spots. The story is very well written and will keep the player engaged until the end. It uses a large amount of plot twists to always make the player want to find out what is going to happen later. The mystery behind Midna will also keep the players guessing on what her role within the big story actually is. The game also rewards exploration, as there are a large variety of extra items that can be found throughout Hyrule. The Cave of Ordeals is the ultimate test of players skill in this game, and when the player beats it after the story is beaten, he or she will feel as if there is nothing more he or she can do within the game to get better. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is a great, vast, and addictive game that uses the wii remote technology very effectively and will keep its players playing it until they finish everything.Sun, 09 Dec 2012 17:39:18 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5445&iddiary=9747Sonic Adventure DX (GC) - Sun, 09 Dec 2012 17:18:38https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5444Sonic Adventure DX for the Nintendo GameCube is an action adventure game that features six different characters, each with their own different game play styles. This variety of game play makes it so if the player gets bored of one game play style, he or she can switch to another. However, some of the game play types are better than others. The best of them all is Sonic's and Tails game play. They both involve high speed, engaging, and addictive high speed movement and platforming. The only different between the two is while Sonic's game play is more speed orientated, Tail's game play involves him having to race to the finish against an opponent. Tails also has the ability to fly, while Sonic has the ability to use the homing attack. Knuckles' game play has him moving and gliding around a set stage looking for three randomly spawned pieces of the master emerald. Due to his high speed and gliding ability, Knuckles' game play is, while not as much as Sonic's and Tails', very fun and addicting. The other three characters aren't as exciting. Gamma's game play is a semi-paced third person shooter that is very easy, and it is somewhat fun. Amy's game play is like a very slow version of Sonic's, requiring slow platforming and running away from enemies. Big has the worst of them all, as his core mechanic is a very poorly made fishing. He does not even belong in the game in my opinion. What this game does well is having each character have his or her own role in the story, and then allowing everything to come together at the end. Although this game isn't the best due to the game play of some unnecessary characters, it is still a very well made and addicting game when considering the story and the gameplay of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.Sun, 09 Dec 2012 17:18:38 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5444&iddiary=9746Pokemon Pearl (DS) - Sun, 09 Dec 2012 16:24:15https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5443Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are role playing games and they are the first games of the fourth generation Pokemon series. Just like all new series, the core mechanic of the game remains the same, with the only changes being in the story mode and the kinds of Pokemon available. The story involves the player catching and training Pokemon as he or she defeats the enemy Team Plasma and defeats gym leaders in order to fight and defeat the Elite Four and the champion. The story isn't engaging at all, and the player will most likely not care about what is really going on. The objective of the player is to catch as many pokemon as possible and become the champion. This game emphasizes player choice as he or she may select from a large variety of available pokemon to use throughout the story mode. Very rarely will two players ever have the exact same line up of pokemon. The game isn't particularly very challenging, so unless the player wants to play against other players, not much strategy is needed when selecting the pokemon in order to just beat the story. When playing against other players, the player needs to make sure his or her team of pokemon covers all possible weaknesses and can take down the enemy tem as efficiently as possible. A large amount of strategy is needed when making a team, which is why this game appeals to older players, rather than just kids. The Sinnoh region is a very large area, so there is a lot of room for exploration. The large variety of Pokemon enchances replayability as players will want to experiment with a large amount of combinations. The large amount of replayability and player choice makes Pokemon Diamond and Pearl great games for anyone.Sun, 09 Dec 2012 16:24:15 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5443&iddiary=9745Super Mario Sunshine (GC) - Sun, 09 Dec 2012 15:55:34https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5442Super Mario Sunshine is a free roaming action adventure game. This game features Mario and his new water machine named Fludd as they try to clean up the city called Delphino Plaza and save Princess Peach from Bowser. The unique mechanic of this game is Fludd, as he allows Mario to do a variety of unique things. It has the standard squirt nozzle, the hover nozzle which allows Mario to move across gaps and gain height, the rocket nozzle which allows Mario to gain a large amount of height, and the turbo nozzle, which allows Mario to move at very high speeds. The main resource in this game are lives and water. If the player runs out of lives, he or she must restart the mission. If the player runs out of water, he or she can't use Fludd, and therefore, won't be able to complete the level until he or she finds a source of water. Delphino Plaza acts as a hub which serves as an access point to all the other levels. The objective of each of the eight missions per level is to find the Shine Sprite, which help you move further into the story. However, one doesn't need even half of them to complete the story mode. The fact that there are such a large number of extra shine sprites throughout the world greatly adds to the replayability of the game. The game is very well created as there are very few issues that can be found during gameplay. The story is uninteresting and dull, making it the worst part of the game in my opinion. Despite the story, Super Mario Sunshine is an amazing and well made addictive game.Sun, 09 Dec 2012 15:55:34 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5442&iddiary=9744Sonic and The Secret Rings (Wii) - Sun, 09 Dec 2012 15:44:19https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5441Sonic and the Secret Rings is an on-rails action adventure that is very unique because it uses the Wii remote to determine whether Sonic moves to the right or the left. The story of the game involves Sonic the Hedgehog being transported to the world of the Arabian Nights, where he must team up with a good genie to defeat an evil genie who strives to destroy the book and be freed into the real world. Although it is not a very engaging story, it is unique how they incorporate Sonic into a well known work of western literature. Each of Sonic's friends appear with their original personalities as a character of the Arabian Nights. Each of the stages are very vibrant with color. Each of the seven stages has a large numbers of missions, with each one being ranked. The large number of stages and the players desire to achieve the highest rank possible will greatly increase the replayability of this game. The actual gameplay is very fun and engaging, as its very amusing to run at fast speeds and pull of quick reactions to upcoming obstacles such as enemies and environmental hazards. The style of the game does lead to some frustration though. Sometimes when Sonic is moving too fast, it is almost impossible to pull of the necessary reactions unless the player memorizes the timing. It helps that the game doesn't use lives so the player can retry a section as many times as he or she wants. Moving backwards is also a pain as players can't turn the camera angle to see what is behind. Despite some issues, Sonic and the Secret Rings is an amazing, fast paced, and replayable game that uses the ability of the Wii remote very well.Sun, 09 Dec 2012 15:44:19 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5441&iddiary=9743Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (360) - Sun, 09 Dec 2012 14:05:12https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5440Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has an epic single player experience and an addictive multiplayer experience. The core mechanic of this game is shooting, and the objective is to kill all the enemies that stand in your way. The single player has an engaging story mode that follows Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2's story and will keep players interested until the end. The mysterious main character, Yuri, starts out as seeming like a random nobody, but eventually, it is revealed that he has a unique and engaging back-story. The actual single player gameplay is no different than any other first person shooter, just kill as much enemies as possible and get to the end of the level. Although it is not a very unique experience, it is still entertaining and players won't get bored of it. The multiplayer is the same as all the Call of Duty games before it. Player make their own loadouts through the Create a Class system. They have a large variety of weapons, attachments, and perks to use. This system of choice is still one of the great features of the Call of Duty series. The actual game play is very addictive. The objectives can range from just killing people, capturing and defending flags, and holding down territories or headquarters. With all the different options in this game with the Create a Class system and the different gametypes, there is always something for everyone. The game rewards players who play frequently the chance to prestige, which helps them show off to the world how experienced they are at the game. Overall, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is a great package with an engaging single player mode and an addictive multiplayer mode.Sun, 09 Dec 2012 14:05:12 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5440&iddiary=9742Battlefield 3 (Arcade) - Sun, 09 Dec 2012 13:41:48https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5437Battlefield 3 has a very unique multiplayer as it emphasizes teamwork by giving each player a role that he or she must follow in order to lead the team to victory. When a player starts a game of multiplayer, he or she is given the option to choose from four different classes, assault, engineer, recon, and support. Each class has its own role to play within the team. Assaults do most of the running in and recover wounded teammates, engineers have heavy firepower to destroy enemy vehicles and tools to recover damaged friendly vehicles, supports use suppressing fire to keep the enemies down and recover the ammo of their teammates, and recons stay in the background and snipe enemies and give their spot them so their teammates know where they are. The most satisfying part about this game is when everyone on the team does his or her role and the team is able to completely dominate their opponents through teamwork strategies. This is what makes this game so different than the Call of Duty games, as one does not have to be an excellent shooter or have amazing reactions in order to be good. Vehicles are also an integral part of the game, as tanks and jets can be seen as very useful resources that, if used correctly, can lead the team to victory. This game is good about rewarding teamwork by giving points to those who assist their team and satisfy their roles. As a result, even those who don't get many kills can still receive a large number of points and level up quickly. It is this emphasis on satisfying ones role and teamwork that makes Battlefield 3 such a unique and amazing first person shooter.Sun, 09 Dec 2012 13:41:48 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5437&iddiary=9739Yu-Gi-Oh (Other) - Thu, 06 Dec 2012 16:55:07https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5427Yu-Gi-Oh is a collectible trading card game that pits players against each other with their trading cards. There are three sorts of cards, Monsters, which are the main method of defeating your opponent, spells, which are used to enhance your monsters and give you an advantage in strength, and traps, which are used to stop your opponent from dealing damage to you and defeating his or her powerful cards. The player must create a balance of monsters, spells, and traps in his or her deck so that he or she has the greatest chance of defeating his or her opponents. The objective of this game is to defeat reduce the opponents 8000 life points to 0 life points. The biggest challenge of this game is the building of the deck. Players need to select cards that are balanced, work very well together, and will be able to work in as many situations as possible. This is a game that requires a large amount of strategy and intellect. If one has no strategy or balance within his or her deck of cards, there is no way he or she will be able to defeat an opponent who does. This is a great example of a game that psychologically keeps on getting players to buy its products. The game keeps on getting updated booster packs and sets that it current players do not buy, they will fall greatly behind to those who do have the new cards. As a result, the company that develops these cards keeps on making large amounts of money. This is a great social, as well as competitive game. It appeals to all sorts of players of different goals and ages. There are Yu-Gi-Oh players who want to be professional as well as players who want to just have fun. Either way, it is a great game that requires strategic thought processes.Thu, 06 Dec 2012 16:55:07 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5427&iddiary=9725Sonic Unleashed (360) - Thu, 06 Dec 2012 16:29:26https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5426Sonic Unleashed is half an amazing game that truly shows off the speed and fast paced action of what a Sonic game should be, while the other half is a dull, slow, and uninteresting hack and slash style gameplay. The story is not very engaging, as it seems like nothing really happens between the first few and cutscenes and when you get towards the end of the game. The ending of the game is phenomenal, however, the middle portion of the game seems pointless and the player does not really keep up to date on why Sonic is doing what he is doing. The daytime game play featuring the regular Sonic is amazing. Its fast paced and keeps the player always on his or her toes. Fast reactions are necessary and there are branching pathways in each level. As a result, the player will keep on replaying levels until he or she knows how to react at each moment and the best pathways, which result in the reward of getting a high rank. The ranking features makes players strive to keep on playing levels until they know them perfectly so they can get high ranks on every level, which can act as a huge source of pride for them. The nighttime stages are the inverse of the daytime stages. As Sonic the Werehog, the player moves very slowly and defeats a never ending amount of enemies by button smashing. There is no skill required for these stages, and they are just plain boring. The stages are also very long, sometimes around twenty minutes, so players will never want to replay it. Its misleading to put gameplay like this in a Sonic the Hedgehog title. In conclusion, this game is half a perfect game and half a very flawed and unnecessary game.Thu, 06 Dec 2012 16:29:26 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5426&iddiary=9723Halo 4 (360) - Thu, 06 Dec 2012 16:13:02https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5424Halo 4 is, by far, one of the greatest first person shooter games that I have ever played. The main core mechanic of this game is shooting your enemies. In both single and multiplayer, you need to use the variety of weapons that you are given access to so that you may defeat your enemies and survive. The objective of the single player mode is to reach the end of the level, whereas the objective of multiplayer mode has a variety of objectives, depending on the game type. This can range from killing as much as possible, to holding down a territory for a period of time, and capturing the enemy flag while defending your own. Each starting weapons has its own advantages or disadvantages, for example, the DMR is very good at long range but bad at short range, while the BR is good at long range but ineffective at short range. The Light Rifle is good at all ranges but has a very slow rate of fire. This is the first Halo game to give players a large amount of customization opportunities. The player may select both his or her starting and secondary weapons, an armor ability, and two perks. Nothing is overpowered, so no single weapon, perk, or armor ability is used much more than any other in multiplayer. Each has its own effective advantages in particular situations. The game also has Spartan Ops, which are special missions that are delivered to players weekly by 343 industries. This is a good method to keep people coming back to the game, as each mission provides a very engaging story that will keep the players waiting for the next mission. Overall, this game is amazing as it keeps on engaging players through its amazing campaign, fun and balanced multiplayer, and engaging Spartan Ops.Thu, 06 Dec 2012 16:13:02 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5424&iddiary=9720
