The core mechanic of Starcraft like many RTSs can be described as war. The main objective in the game is to gather resources and train an army to be able to capture the opponents base. The resource management involved consists of minerals and gas, army supply, and the army itself. Minerals and gas can only be found in certain places on the map, and sometimes there are special minerals that will mine faster than the normal ones. Many different units can be trained to make up an army. Each unit has different movement and attacking constraints like only being able to attack ground or air units. These units can only be made if the player has the required structures, and can also be upgraded with other required structures. Matches can be played with anywhere from 2 to 8 players, each controlling their own base and army. The objective is still to capture the others or other teams bases with more people playing. There are also many player made maps that can be seen as mods because they can alter the core mechanics and rules of the base game. some examples are maps that turn the game into tower defense, or a single character game where each player controls one hero and manages its skills.Tue, 11 Dec 2012 01:51:23 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5095&iddiary=9771Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (PC) - Tue, 04 Sep 2012 01:32:40https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5095Today I played some team games with my roommate. The matchmaking system is a little harsh though. It tries its hardest to keep you at a 50/50 win-loss ratio no matter what. Over the last couple of days, we won all five of our placement matches somehow. Today we played a couple more games and the system kept matching us up against players one or two ranks above us, which is a big difference. The pregame predictions weren't even "evenly matched" or "slightly favored". It showed as full on "favored" for the other team, which almost always means they're going to win. hopefully we can win a couple games the next time we playTue, 04 Sep 2012 01:32:40 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5095&iddiary=9360
