Battlefield 3 uses the revolutionary Frostbite 2.0 engine developed by DICE studios which utilizes updated graphics, audio, video elements and destruction elements. This game is geared towards large scale, vehicle and infantry combat played out on maps that vary in size and mode. These modes include conquest (capture three points and eliminate the enemy ticket count), rush (destroy a set of targets which advances the side to the next set, one team attacks and another defends), and standard team deathmatch. On the console battles are limited to 12vs12, while on PC they are allowed up to 32vs32 which leads to some pretty epic combat. The Battlefield series is not marketed a military simulator but incorporates a certain degree of realism when compared to other shooters such as the popular Call Of Duty series. Another feature of the game was the introduction of Battlelog, the games own social network. It supports text chat, voice chat, forums, game statistics and leaderboards, ability to join games on PC, and to create esports competitive matches. The game has released several downloadable content map packs which included vehicles, challenges and new weapons. The final content pack is being released March, 2013. Overall, this game is quite fun and interesting to play and has kept me playing since October, 2011. I can say for sure that no other game I have played has hooked me in for this long. Creating a platoon (group similar to a clan or guild in other games) has extended the life of Battlefield 3 for me indefinitely. As long as the player-base exists and is supported by the developers I will continue to play Battlefield 3.
