Wookify's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=1754Defcon (PC) - Wed, 08 Apr 2015 10:39:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=600104/08/15 I played a few more rounds of the game this morning and I think I am getting a little better. I did not take last place in the second round. The weird thing with this game is that I like to play against the computer, and it feels like the other computer players are always teaming up against me. I am not really a fan of this game and will probably not play it past looking at it for the OPA paper that I have to write on it. It doesn’t hold much appeal to me. I enjoy a game of risk, but I am not a hugely competitive person, so trying to plot each others downfall is not enjoyable for me.Wed, 08 Apr 2015 10:39:06 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6001&iddiary=10470Defcon (PC) - Wed, 08 Apr 2015 10:32:52https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=600104/07/15 Ok, So I actually go into a match vs. four opponents at the same time and it got a little hectic. The game did not move as slow as it did while going through the tutorial. I still feel like it moves a little slow, even though you feel like you have time to react, you really don’t, because any movement of your navy or planes is too slow to counter. I think the feel that they were going for with this game was a more live action version of Risk with much bigger stakes, but failed to pull it off. Because of reaction times, it still feels like putting your moves out there, pushing play and watching things play out. You can change tactics a little bit, but not enough to give it a really good strategy feel. I also am having a hard time seeing the moral impact of the game. The numbers they deal with are just too large scale for the mind to really process. If I told you that 5 people you know died, in a roadside bomb, it has a much greater impact than if you just show a city as a dot get hit and say, 5 million people you never knew, or would ever know have died. It just doesn’t have enough of an emotional impact to really get my ethics and moral centers engaged. (This entry has been edited1 time. So the game is fairly simple, you control a few fleets of ships and subs that move as a group of 6, missile silos and some airstrips. You progress through the 5 defcon stages in which you place your units, then you can deploy them. In defcon 3 you can start to actually attack other countries/players. Then you get to defcon 1 in which you can start to launch nuclear weapons. The entire goal of the game is to kill as many people in the other countries as possible and save as many of your own citizens. The game actually flows very slowly, even using the speed up time options. So operating at full speed I still had to quit out of a game before it was finished. It comes up and tells you how many people in millions that you have killed. So far it doesn’t really have much of a ethical impact. I need to play some more to get a better feel for the game. Some crazy guy is running the place that just kills people for the heck of it. Your options in what you can do are very limited. Although, I am pretty sure that my choice to help Sarah with the plants caused Reggie to be killed, which is really too bad, I liked Reggie. Why is it in this game, that all the nice guys that I liked are now dead. Note to self, if a character is nice and you like him, they will kill him off. Luke showed back up, and doesn’t look to good, I wonder if he got bit by a Walker? I also don’t know who to trust or which plan to do. The game does a good job of making you make a choice that ends up having hard consequences whichever way you go. This puts me on edge every time a choice comes up. I try and guess the outcomes and go with the one that I think would be best, but I’m paranoid about making a stupid choice. At almost every choice that’s been presented, I think to myself, great, who did I kill this time? Not the way that I normally like to feel when playing a game.Wed, 25 Feb 2015 03:56:05 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5977&iddiary=10430The Walking Dead: Season Two (PC) - Tue, 24 Feb 2015 20:24:42https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5977I have now finished the 2nd episode of the walking dead season 2. I am getting extremely frustrated with this game, in the same way that I got super frustrated with the TV series. It feels like there is almost no good answers. Everything seems to lead to death and destruction. You feel like you are making the right choice and somebody dies. Also, all the good characters are dying and more evil and stupid characters are popping up. I’m pretty sure that if they could kill the main character that they would. The only reason worth playing to find out what happens to the Clementine. Though if nothing good happens for it, it just becomes this horrible eternal struggle. The mechanics of the game are super simple and besides making the occasional choice there isn’t much to the game. It’s like watching a movie or tv with a periodic button push. I really feel this is somewhere between a game and a new way to watch tv. It would be really cool if you were at home and could make a choice for the character and watch how that version played out. Think of the re-watch value of each episode.Tue, 24 Feb 2015 20:24:42 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5977&iddiary=10425The Walking Dead: Season Two (PC) - Tue, 24 Feb 2015 01:01:35https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=5977I have never played a tell tale game before and am finding the experience very interesting. It begins with some very gruesome deaths right off the bat. You have only a couple dialogue choices leading up to them, but I know this game is all about the choices and consequences, it really makes me wonder if I could have made different choices and ended up without as much death. It was also interesting that the game makes a bunch of choices from the first season for you. So you have carry over choices that you didn't even make. So each time you begin, it could be a totally different playthrough. So the game makes you think that you are making a nice choice and then spits it right back in your face. I met a dog and tried to be friendly and share some of my food with it to make friends and the dog ended up attacking me. Which leads to meeting a bunch of people in a cabin who think you've been bitten by a zombie and lock you in a shed. I always try to make the nice or good choices the first time I play a game, but this is really testing that, by taking the 'be nice' choice and making it not so great. So far the game is very interesting and look forward to seeing how it plays out. Website is awful, I wrote this 2 days ago, and it didn't log, then it erased it again, tonight. It won't keep you logged in long enough to complete an entry. (This entry has been edited1 time.
