I did not know much going into the game other than it has had some great success and many people seem to really like the game. I started a little unprepared. The character is a young girl who falls down a hole into a mountain where monsters live. You first meet a flower who seems nice. He tells you that you can grow your health by finding love. He offers you some love but then promptly turns on you telling you that it is silly to share love because everything will either kill you or be killed. You are rescued by a monster at that point. The monster then leads you through some corridors and puzzles. After a few she leaves you telling you not to leave the room. There is nothing going on by staying in the room so I left to explore more. I got attacked many times by different creatures and was able to avoid fighting them by talking and letting them go. This seemed to be a good strategy until I was attacked by a vegitoid. This creature is not one you are able to talk your way around. I had to fight it until I killed it. So far it is the only creature that will not listen to me. The game is progressing nicely. I made my way through some simple puzzles getting a few phone calls from the monster in the beginning of the game. She asks some strange questions sometimes. I finished by play time today after getting killed by one of those vegitoid creatures. So far so good.Thu, 07 Apr 2016 11:53:38 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6134&iddiary=10717Undertale (PC) - Thu, 07 Apr 2016 11:51:09https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6134Today I continued my quest through underworld. I have been exploring the second chapter in a wintery world messing with two skeletons. One of the skeletons seems friendly and the other wants so badly to capture me and take me to the king so that he can be respected and liked. There have been some “puzzles” to solve. They have not been difficult at all. In fact one of the mazes was solved for me before I did it. The monsters have gotten stronger but you can still avoid fighting most of them by doing other things like talking to them. Some of them are dogs so petting them seems to work too. As long as you are not fighting them you are not gaining any experience points so it makes me wonder if that is going to come back to haunt me later in the game. I did end up dying this round again when I ran into two guard dogs who are dating or maybe even married. It is very hard to avoid their attack and I was already weak when I got to that part. During this time with the game I was able to get through all the switches without dying. I didn’t encounter as many creatures today. I was able to make it to Turiels house where she greeted me and gave me a room. She said that she made pie and went to check on it. I took to exploring a little while before I checked the bed and promptly went to sleep. When I woke up there was a slice of pie waiting for me on the floor. I took it because food seems to give you HP. After waking up and taking the pie, I went to explore some more around the house. I Found Turiel sitting in a chair reading. I talked to her and she seemed to be enjoying my company in her home. I didn’t pry about leaving just yet. I left and found a toy knife and went downstairs. I was stopped by Turiel so I tried again and she continued to stop me from advancing so I decided that the only way to move on in the game was to ask her about leaving. When I asked her she left and I found her downstairs where she continued to warn me about moving forward and dying. In order to advance the game I soon realized that I would have to fight her. I tried talking to her first but it wasn’t doing anything. I then started attacking. I noticed that if I didn’t move my heart around all the things she was throwing at me missed. I just kept attacking until I won. Turiel then died after giving me some more warnings. I am not sure that I liked being forced to fight and kill this character. At this point I am thinking that it is theming and part of the story but I still did not like doing it. I kind of wish that there were more options to get around that part of the game. After this part of the game I was greeted by a skeleton who helped me hide from his brother. That is where my journey ended today.Tue, 05 Apr 2016 00:31:21 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6134&iddiary=10698Prison Architect (PC) - Wed, 02 Mar 2016 22:23:24https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6112Prison Architect Game Log 3 In today’s game I played through part of scenario 3 where I had to stop a prison riot. There was a hostage situation and I was able to move in riot guards and armed guards to beat up and shoot the rioting prisoners. There was a brief warning that the armed guards would shoot when close to the prisoners. As I entered the most dangerous blocks one of my armed guards shot one of the prisoners dead and it surprised me. I was not really expecting that it would happen so easily. I quickly moved him out and let my riot guards move in instead. This proved to be a bad idea because the prisoners killed every one of them. This made me angry so I then let my armed guards in and I no longer cared about the prisoners lives, they deserved to die because they were killing my men. I was able to secure the block and continue the game by killing the rioting prisoners. As the scene progressed you learn that the warden was burning papers to cheat on the prisoners sentences by extending them. This would bring the prison more money. After learning this the guards break through the doors and the prisoner shoots the warden before getting shot himself. At this point I turned off the game but it seems that for the next little while you are left to cleaning up the mess you made in the prison and bringing order back to it. It seems that the governor who keeps calling in is a pretty shady character at this point. It will be interesting to see what happens next.Wed, 02 Mar 2016 22:23:24 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6112&iddiary=10672Prison Architect (PC) - Mon, 29 Feb 2016 16:00:41https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6112Prison Architect Gamelog 2 Today I played through the second scene. I had to start the whole scene over because it did not save my game right. In this scenario I had to rebuild a kitchen and canteen. I also had to provide a common room for recreation and support groups for drug and alcohol addiction. I went ahead and built a laundry and a visitation room as well. While I constructed the new buildings the campaign carried on. The mobs boss was severely burned in a fire and taken to the infirmary. There he met with his son and son-in-law. One of them, he suspects, started the fire. Later you learn that the son-in-law started it but he was targeting the son. They meet up in the shower later and the son gets killed. The son-in-law was wounded and ended up in the infirmary as well. At the end of the scene his wife visits them and says goodbye to her father and divorces her husband. Personally I am not into the scenario as much as I am into constructing the prison and managing its upkeep to keep prisoners happy. I was able to reduce all their needs by hiring employees and building the right rooms. For me it was a fun payoff to see their needs go down as I worked to get them what they needed.Mon, 29 Feb 2016 16:00:41 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6112&iddiary=10662Prison Architect (PC) - Sat, 27 Feb 2016 14:01:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6112Today I started playing the game Prison Architect. Just looking at the game I thought it was all about managing prisoners and building a prison. It does have those elements but the game also has a story that you are following as you play. The first chapter is about a prisoner who you have to send to the electric chair after you build it. Upon completing the building you learn more about who the prisoner is. He shot and killed his wife and her lover whom she was having an affair with. As I played through this scenario I learned that after he had murdered the two people that he felt very sorry and visited a church where he talked to a priest. He did not seem like a man who was a criminal but a good man who had made a terrible mistake and was sorry for it. I did not feel that sending him to the electric chair was necessary. However, I did not see a way around this if I wanted the game to progress. In the second chapter I was at a different prison where I learned a little more about the story. The man who the prisoner had shot was someone who was important to the mob. I learned this after putting out a huge fire and the mobs boss was talking to his henchmen in the infirmary. At this point I was required to build a new canteen and kitchen in order to provide food for all the prisoners. I was having so much fun with the building mechanic of the game that I also built a commons room, laundry and visitors room. I also hired a bunch of janitors because the prison was so dirty. As I was playing 2 bodies were found in the shower. I did not click on the picture yet because I was enjoying upgrading the prison.Sat, 27 Feb 2016 14:01:06 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6112&iddiary=10658This war of mine (PC) - Mon, 25 Jan 2016 20:29:31https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6085Game Log 3 This War of Mine Today I played further into the game. I tried to play the game by trading with other people instead of raiding. It turns out that it is very hard to barter with people. They usually want more than what I felt comfortable giving away. I wonder if that was done on purpose to make the player raid more because it is a lot easier. I have been sticking to only raiding locations where there are no inhabitants and that seems to be working very well for me. I have had a fourth person join my little group. I let her join and live in the complex and it has been good and bad. For instance I have an extra person to build combustibles and filters, but I also have another mouth to feed. So far so good with keeping everyone healthy and fed. If I can figure out how to create more things to trade I think that I would be more willing to trade. I just have to play longer to figure those things out.Mon, 25 Jan 2016 20:29:31 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6085&iddiary=10622This war of mine (PC) - Sat, 23 Jan 2016 10:50:16https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6085Log 2 This War of Mine Today I played a new round, different from yesterday. I decided to try to play the game without raiding people’s houses and apartments. I wanted to try to raid just the abandoned locations. I also focused on building things in my home quicker so that I could have food and water on hand. Things worked out well until I went to a villa that seemed to be abandoned but it turned out that it was in fact not. There were people there and after the raid I got home and the character felt badly about taking the things. I was a little confused because I thought that it was an empty villa. It was almost like I did something bad without even knowing it. I also had a case today where a neighbor brought me food from their garden. I gladly accepted the gift and it helped out the food situation immensely. It made me wonder if I would be able to give gifts to people in the game the way that they gave me gifts. I am not sure how that would work since it seems like the only way to visit other locations is when I am on a raid at night. So far with the game today I have been able to keep my characters happy, fed, and healthy longer than the last game I played.Sat, 23 Jan 2016 10:50:16 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6085&iddiary=10617This war of mine (PC) - Fri, 22 Jan 2016 11:22:56https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6085Log 1 This War of Mine Today I played through until day 6. I searched for supplies at many different locations. Some seemed abandoned and others had people in them. I also built some basic things for my living quarters. I built a workbench, stove and heater. I had a few visits from some people who wanted to trade and from some kids looking for medicine for their mom. The game is about survival from what I can tell at this point but it also explores some interesting dilemmas. There was one instance where I visited the quiet house. As soon as I opened the door I was confronted by an old man who asked what I was doing there. I knew that the object of the game was to find survival supplies so I ignored him and started looking for loot. The couple ran upstairs and hid in the farthest room. I continued my raid curious as to what would happen if I did. Eventually the old man said that he was going to call for help and I left. When I got back home my character seemed very upset about what he had just done. In a way it was nice to see his remorse. I had never seen anything like that in a game before. There seemed to be an emotional consequence for your actions. Not only that the other two characters became sad as well and needed to talk to each other. Given the circumstances of the world they are in, is it still ethical to loot for survival? Obviously it seemed wrong to steal from an elderly couple right from under their noses. I wonder if the game can still be played out if all you do is try to barter with your visitors.Fri, 22 Jan 2016 11:22:56 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6085&iddiary=10614
