jdrunyan's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=1895This is the Police (PC) - Thu, 09 Nov 2017 23:51:07https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6493Man, this order to fire all my black officers... I don't want to do that! I wonder what will happen if I just ignore it and pretend I never saw it... WOW This is heavy! Help this guy and be in with the Mafia... or tell him no and almost guarantee he and his family are dead... I guess it's time to join the Mafia! Well, they didn't do anything incredibly horrible because I didn't fire all the black officers, however this deal with the mafia is going to become cumbersome I feel like... Is there no positive side to helping them? Hmmm... What the heck?! Their "services" all involve getting my officers/deputies killed?? Is this actually a strategy in this game?!? Well, this certainly has become a lot more interesting. Doing work for the mafia, getting paid, what more could this game have to offer?Thu, 09 Nov 2017 23:51:07 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6493&iddiary=11412This is the Police (PC) - Thu, 09 Nov 2017 03:00:22https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6493I had some anxieties about playing this game today, but the moment I had the option to just turn on some smooth jazz to play in the background, the entire mood of the game changed! It's incredible how the tone of a game can instantly change if you just adjust the music! This poor guy has a rough life. Wife left him for some young kid... Stuck in a job that he knows will end soon. What else can go wrong? ;) Gameplay seems pretty standard though at this point. I'm curious how the detectives will differ from normal officer assignments. So far, hasn't been much opportunity to earn money either.Thu, 09 Nov 2017 03:00:22 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6493&iddiary=11399This is the Police (PC) - Wed, 08 Nov 2017 00:59:51https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6493Well, this start isn't what I expected from a game about a police officer, but maybe this police chief is less than honorable. Also more suggestive themes than I would have expected right off the bat. I'm curious as to how the comments I made impact the game, and if there would have been different results if I had said something else. Interesting, managing police squads, and divying out assignments. I can see how this would be fun... Oh boy, is this an option to persue a less than legal means of acquiring my retirement goal? I'm curious how this pans out, and if the game gives me the option to earn it all legally, or not...Wed, 08 Nov 2017 00:59:51 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6493&iddiary=11384Prison Architect (PC) - Fri, 29 Sep 2017 00:58:51https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6463Well, today we'll try the sandbox mode. So far it seems simple, but there sure are a lot of fiddly parts to setting up even just a building! I get that they're going for this realistic approach, but it's starting to get out of hand... Alright, I'm just going to go back to the campaign. At least their buildings were functional... This game's cutscenes are more descriptive than I would have thought. It really is an interesting situation to be in. Either help the inmates in hopes that they turn out better, or just do the minimum and let them rot in their cells... and hope they don't riot... like they are now!Fri, 29 Sep 2017 00:58:51 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6463&iddiary=11340Prison Architect (PC) - Wed, 27 Sep 2017 22:53:13https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6463This game is starting to feel tedious honestly. I get that there is this ethical dillema here, but there just feels like so much micromanaging that goes on, it takes away from what's happening in the campaign. I did see that there is actually a sandbox mode, which I haven't tried yet. Maybe I'll just try that out tomorrow and see how quickly my inmates just riot and take over the entire prison... Anyways, there definitely is a lot of violence in this game, which I should expect, it's trying to simulate a prison, which isn't full of unicorns and rainbow frosting.Wed, 27 Sep 2017 22:53:13 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6463&iddiary=11311Prison Architect (PC) - Tue, 26 Sep 2017 23:08:11https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6463Alright, so Prison Architect. Seems like a rollercoaster tycoon type of game, but with prisons... Should be interesting! Wow, starting off with an execution already!? This game doesn't beat around the bush. And nudity! Ok, well I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. This game is rated M after all. Hmm interesting, I was wondering if the game would offer me an option to not kill that man. I would have followed through with the death penalty, just somehting I slightly anticipated. Ok, so now I'm facing a fire in my prison... What a mess. This looks like it will be expensive to repair. I accidentally hurt one of my firemen. Interesting, a prisoner was hurt... Ya know, I was expecting this to be more of a sandbox type of game, but this storyline element is intriguing.Tue, 26 Sep 2017 23:08:11 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6463&iddiary=11298Life is Strange (PC) - Wed, 30 Aug 2017 21:01:36https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6431After yesterday, I'm starting to wonder how much my actions really make a difference in this game... It makes me reflect on how I might act if I were able to rewind time and maybe, change how I did things... Wow, life sure would be a whole lot different! But, would it be as interesting, or meaningful? If I knew the outcome of every decision, or at least how others would respond to my actions... I don't know how I'd feel about that to be honest... This just got a whole lot more intense! I'm somehow supposed to save this entire town from a massive storm?! How?? It's not like I can just tell them all what I've been seeing and doing... Not only would that put myself in a very very awkward position, but none of them would believe me anyways! This is quite the problem... Anyways, enough about the actual game. I'm not sure where to begin in analyzing this from an ethical perspective. There's of course the question of "Is it ethical to manipulate others or the outcomes of the future because I know how they'll respond anyways?" But then to go beyond that, is it my place to make those changes? How do I know when I should and shouldn't 'rewind' and make things different? Do I just go forward making every decision and then trying different permutations of that decisions until I'm satisfied with the result? You could spend a lifetime on some actions doing things differently, seeing how it worked out...Wed, 30 Aug 2017 21:01:36 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6431&iddiary=11250Life is Strange (PC) - Wed, 30 Aug 2017 00:37:57https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6431I'm slightly anxious about today. I don't know how I feel about some of these decisions I have to make. I guess it raises the question of how ethical is it to be able to make decisions or actions knowing that you can just rewind time and it's as though nothing ever happened? What's the difference between that and just never being caught or anyone else ever knowing?? Wow, these kids are really at each other's throats! What could possibly be worth a potential murder, much less at a high school?!?Wed, 30 Aug 2017 00:37:57 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6431&iddiary=11237Life is Strange (PC) - Mon, 28 Aug 2017 21:55:48https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6431Right from the beginning, I started feeling slight amounts of anxiety as I was informed that every decision I made in the game would have lasting consequences. I like the freedom I have to just explore. I feel compelled to read and look at every little thing in the game. There's no time constraints (yet) that require me to go from one objective to the other in any hurry. Wow, this just got a whole lot more interesting! The ability to reverse time?? Did not see that coming... I'm guessing I will have to witness and the prevent a lot of different disasters or incidents, judging by the scene in the bathroom... Really interesting developments. I was not expecting this at all from this game! I'm slightly overwhelmed by all the possibilities that could result from my actions, but I think I'm going to just press through the game without worrying too much about that, and just see where it takes me.Mon, 28 Aug 2017 21:55:48 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6431&iddiary=11222
