Merde's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=235Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Thu, 22 Feb 2007 18:33:46https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1338So I played again yesterday, but with my friend on multiplayer. Playing through most of the game in single player mode really helped me improve in multi player. I was pretty good and kept kicking my friend's butt. But that also may have been because he was pretty bad, too. Which was nice. Playing against someone with about the same skill level is a lot more fun than playing with people who know the levels inside and out. After playing for a while, my friend got discouraged because I kept beating him, but he did beat me, too. I just beat him more often. We would play with different weapons each time, and I completely dominated with the lasers. So fun. Later that night, I played yet again, but with 2 different friends. One of them who knows the game inside and out and is kind of freakishly good. And the other who was about the same skill level as me, but I just kept on running around and not really trying hard, so he did a lot better than I did. Because against the good friend, resistance is futile. No matter how hard I tried, he would find me, and kill me. Even if I was prepared for him and just waiting. He would kill me. It was kind of ridiculous. All in all, I really like this game. To me, it's fun on single player and multi player. But single player can be really frustrating sometimes. But that's because I'm impatient. I like the fact that this game was surprisingly addictive. And I know I'll keep playing it for a long time. And because you can improve fairly easily when you play often enough, one day I aspire to destroy my friend on multiplayer.Thu, 22 Feb 2007 18:33:46 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1338&iddiary=2880Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Wed, 21 Feb 2007 18:23:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1338So I started playing Goldeneye 007 a couple of days ago, and am now almost done. But I'm only playing on Agent. It's my first time ever playing it, so I wanted to play it through first on the easiest setting, then go through and beat it on the harder settings. When I was little, my brother had the game, and I always wanted to play, but he would never let me. So playing now is pretty fun. When I first started and saw the graphics of the players, I laughed, but then I remembered how old the game is, and was really amazed. I didn't really think I would like playing this game as much as I do. I played multiplayer once last year with 3 friends who were really good, and it kind of discouraged me. They kept killing me, and I didn't even know how to open a door. But playing now on my own, and improving is a lot of fun. I can't wait until I'm good enough to beat people in multiplayer.Wed, 21 Feb 2007 18:23:06 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1338&iddiary=2851Mario Kart (Wii) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 14:16:09https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1202I played again, but this time with 3 other people. This game is so much more fun when you play with other people. I like that when you play with more than 2 people, it's just the people playing that are in the race. It makes it a lot more fun and interesting. And I love the smack talking that goes down. After we played all of the races, we played in battle mode. I think that battle mode is great, because it gives everyone a fair chance. It doesn't matter how good you are, or how horribe you are, unless you just can't maneuver the controller, everyone has a chance to win. I love the battle mode. I think it is my favorite when playing with other people. My favorite is the donut, because I always turn right around and go the opposite way of the other players, and then take them out when they come up to me. I will probably always think that this is one of the greatest games ever made.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 14:16:09 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1202&iddiary=2648Mario Kart (Wii) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 02:01:00https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1202Today I played Mario Kart on N64 in single player mode. I love this game. I'm pretty good at it because last year in the dorms, I played all the time with my friend. What I love about this game is that it's so easy to improve. When I first played last year, I was so bad, but now I'm pretty good. It's come a long way from the SNES version. The graphics are pretty amazing for the time it was made, and when I play, I become totally immersed in the gameplay and the outcome. I get so serious, which is kind of rare for me, and just concentrate on the outcome. I always choose Toad as my player, unless I'm playing with other people, and someone steals Toad from me. Then I play Luigi. When I was playing single-player mode, I noticed that the computers are ridiculously good. They jump back so fast. You hit them, and a second or two later, they pass you again. It's ridiculous. Especially Peach, and Wario. I hate Peach with a passion. She is, without a doubt, my least favorite character. But anyways... playing this game is really fun, but it gets boring for me after, like, 2 races when I play by myself. It's much more fun in a social context. Not to sound stuck up or anything, but whenever I play by myself, I just go through all of the cups and get first every time. Or at least almost every time. Still one of the greatest racing games ever made.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 02:01:00 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1202&iddiary=2556Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 01:30:01https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=960So I played Smash Brothers again after dinner, but this time I played by myself. Because I was so bad before, well, not as bad as last year, I decided to do a practice mode first. I kind of hated the practice mode. It was really boring, and the computer didn't even fight back. I don't know if you can change that or not, I didn't check, but it was really boring. After about 15-20 minutes of doing the practice mode with different characters, I just went and did the battles in single-player mode. At the beginning it was kind of ridiculously easy to beat the computer. I don't know if it was because of my earlier gameplay or because of the practice mode, but I was really surprised how easy it was. I chose to use Link and the first round was against Link. I beat him pretty quickly then moved on to round two. And that one was against 16, or maybe it was 18, Yoshis. I was really surprised, but then was really relieved when I saw that it only took hitting them off the screen with one good blow to kill them, until the last Yoshi was left. In later rounds, I got partnered up with a computer character against the more difficult players, which was nice, because I'm still not that great. But I think I was doing pretty well for a beginner, but then I died playing against Donkey Kong. My friend came over again, and we played for the last 15 minutes, and I was a lot better playing against him. Almost everytime I won and had the most kills. I love it when I win! And I also tried playing other characters that I hadn't tried yet. I have to say, I hate Donkey Kong and Ness. They're way too slow. I like fast characters. I like how easy it is to get used to the controls, and how quickly you can progress with this game. I've only played a few times and am already substantially better than I was the first time I played. I like this game, but it's a lot more fun in a social setting, and probably won't play it alone again.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 01:30:01 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=960&iddiary=2160Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Tue, 30 Jan 2007 18:20:24https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=960Alright, so I started playing Super Smash Brothers today, and I've played a couple of other times in the past week and a half, but I sucked. I played last year in the dorms whenever my friends needed another player, but I sucked so much that I didn't like the game. But then again, I was always playing with people who were really good, so they'd just kick my ass, and I was never able to kill anyone. At all. Which is very discouraging when you first start playing a game. So today I played with my friend, and he is just as bad as I am, so it was a lot more fun. We picked different players each time to try and learn their moves and see which player we were best at playing. Got used to the controls, and then killed. I really like fighting games, and usually I'm mostly just a button masher until I figure out one kind of good move, then I just use it over and over again. Like the throws in Soul Caliber III. But in Smash Brothers, it's easier to do different moves, and I actually know them so I don't have to just mash buttons. It's kind of nice. I really like that the different landscapes correspond to the land of one of the characters. I think it's pretty cool. It's one of the things I really like about this game. I think that Link's castle is my favorite one because you have a lot of room to run around without falling off. Something I like to do, which I know is cheap, is to get the sword when it comes onto the screen and hit someone off the screen, and when they come back just keep hitting them until they die. It's just like baseball to me! My favorite characters to play are Link, Samus, Fox, and Captain Falcon.Tue, 30 Jan 2007 18:20:24 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=960&iddiary=2096Soul Caliber III (PS2) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 03:55:16https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=702Today I played some more Soul Caliber III, but this time I played on single player mode for a while before my friend came home. I can honestly say I did not like it very much. It was boring. And the computer was really easy to beat. I did like that you could watch videos of moves, and then practice them yourself. That helped me a lot. I think my favorite character, besides just choosing a random character, is Ivy simply because of her sword/whip thing has so many bad-ass moves that are really fun to do! So when my friend came home, I kicked his ass. Thanks to my practicing. And it was even more fun, because I got to gloat a lot. I really don't know a lot about the logistics of the game, or how the graphics are important to it's console or to this day and age, but maybe I'll look it up more tomorrow before the deadline, and then write another blog. But I can say... two thumbs up on Soul Caliber III. It is definitely better than what I grew up playing. Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter. Both excellent games, but not as many moves, that I can remember at least, and the graphics aren't as good as Soul Caliber. So I definitely appreciate that.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 03:55:16 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=702&iddiary=1723Soul Caliber III (PS2) - Thu, 18 Jan 2007 03:59:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=702Today I started playing Soul Calliber III with my friend. It was the second time in my life that I have played and, well... I kicked his ass. But only because he was going easy on me and letting me learn moves, and teaching me moves. But once I got a move, I really got it. And I would use it to the fullest extent. Whenever I learn a new move, I use it over and over until I get bored of it and want to learn a new one. Which is bad, because it makes it very predictable and easy to block, if it's a move that can be blocked. The move I use most often is a throw. But luckily both the friends I played with today, are really bad at blocking throws. And I get lucky and can turn their throws around on them. I forgot the name of those moves, but I can do it. And then I laugh at them, because they can't. I really like the graphics on the game, and I must say, I love that you can choose a "Random Creation." It's my favorite. I almost always play a random creation because I think it makes it more fun and interesting. I like to learn all the different combos of buttons to push and the timing that is involved in using them to fully execute a move correctly. It's challenging, and really fun. And when I execute a difficult move, whether or not I actually mean to, I get to laugh at my friends for losting to a beginner. I guess I'll write more on it tomorrow or Friday morning after I play for another hour or two. It's definitely a game I could play for hours and hours.Thu, 18 Jan 2007 03:59:06 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=702&iddiary=1588Zombies Ate My Neighbors (GEN) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:44:52https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=464So I went back to my friend's apartment to keep playing Zombies yesterday, and we went through levels 45-48 a few times before we were almost flawless in finding out ammo and weapons and just getting through the levels to Dr. Tongue. The last time we played level 48, it was almost flawless by the time we got through all the skeleton doors and to Dr. Tongue. I was pretty excited because I knew that this time we were going to beat Dr. Tongue, because my friend still had 4 lives, and I still had 3, and between the two of us, we still had a lot of ammo to use against the giant spider. Well, playing against the giant spider is hard because it moves around a lot and spawns little baby spiders, and it's cobwebs are really hard to move through. So I just went near the bottom and shot it with all of my bazookas, then whatever else I had. When we killed the spider, Dr. Tongue then turned into a giant head. The giant head would throw us back, much like the football players, which didn't hurt us, so I didn't mind so much. He had 4 different levels of disintegration. First his glasses cracked, then his head, then his eyeballs started coming after us. It was kind of weird. So we kill Dr. Tongue, and I just kind of figured that he would run away into level 55 or something because it always advertises at the beginning of the game "55 Levels of Terror!" ... So we go through the now open hallway thing and retrieve the cheerleader. And that was it. WINNER!! and fireworks appeared on the screen. That was the end of the game. As much as I love this game, it was so anti-climatic. I was pretty disappointed. We had been working on it for a few months, and it just ends. 7 levels before we think it's supposed to end. But there was a bonus level of some sort after, but we died very quickly because we were just so damn confused. All in all, I would still say I love this game, but that it just has a very disappointing ending. When I was a kid, the graphics were like, "woah." And now, I still love them. And I always will. Because the game, yeah, it pretty much rocks.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:44:52 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=464&iddiary=1294Zombies Ate My Neighbors (GEN) - Wed, 10 Jan 2007 23:08:48https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=464So I first discovered Zombies when I was around the age of 10. That's my guess, at least. I'm really not sure. Probably whenever it came out on the Genesis. Or possibly SNES. Anyways, I found the game at home for Genesis, and brought it back to school to play with my friend. Since I brought it back last quarter, we have been working together to beat it. We don't play that often, and whenever we do, we beat 4-8 levels. The last time we played, we got the password to start on level 45. Level 41 was one of the levels with martians. It has a bubble gun on it, which is really handy in other levels. My zombie partner always gets it, because I suck at using it. We went through the level as quickly as we could picking up and opening what we could and found the baby, which was the only victim still alive, and got the hell out of there. Level 42 was just all spikes, with a few open spots. We went all around before we finally found the person, but then werewolves killed her, and it was game over. The next time we went through a lot quicker, but that was because I just went straight for her, not even waiting for the spikes to go down. Level 43 is one of the "clean up sites" which means there are a lot of toxic blobs around, and green water, which also house the lovely squidmen. The only victim ever left is a guy floating in water. So we just went as quickly as we could and got him before a squidman could and got out of the level. Level 44 is a level around a castle, sort of. There are vampires, who are really annoying, werewolves, zombies, mummies, squidmen, pod plants, and frankenstein's monster who shoots off electrical thingys. The one victim is a cheerleader, and she's trapped behind 4 skeleton key doors. So we had to find all the keys and rescue the cheerleader, also known as my partner's "woman". Once we found out where all the keys were, it wasn't hard level to get through. So we got through the 4 levels, and got the password. So we went on to level 45. It was sort of difficult, seeing as the giant ants were there and kept picking up the items and taking them away, and attacking us. I found the way to our victim fairly quickly, and we found a life up, monster potion, 2 mystery potions, soda cans, water gun, medipack, and bazookas on the way to the victim. Very good haul. Level 46 is a pain in the ass and impossible to get through quickly without a monster potion or a lot of bazookas. My partner always picks up the monster potion, too, because like the bubble gun, I suck at using it. We have to get 2 monster keys and do successfully, whenever he uses the monster potion, and save his woman and get the hell out of there. Because the chainsaw dudes are crazy and always corner me. Level 47 is fairly difficult because it has the worm, snake things that take forever to kill unless you can get them in one spot and not get hurt by them. In this level, though, there are a lot, so we had to be especially careful to only use ammo on one, because we had to kill one to get a skeleton key to get to the baby. We went around the level to find all the items possible, and then killed one of the snake things and left. Level 48 is very, very difficult. First, we had to go around and find all the skeleton keys to get through the doors. Finding them wasn't that hard, but the journey is difficult just for the sheer number of enemies. The vampires, mummies, jelly blob, zombies, werewolves, and Frankie's monster. After we found the keys and went through the doors, Dr. Tongue turned himself into a giant spider, which also creates little spiders consistently. He creates a bunch of spider webs around the floor as he moves around, which make it really hard for us to move around, and he is very hard to kill. The first few times we played, I always died pretty quickly. After we defeated the giant spider, Dr. Tongue turned himself into a giant head that spit acid crap at us, and was difficult to beat. Then we ran out of ammo and died. That was our last attempt at the game for the night. Hopefully next time we can beat level 48, which I think is the most difficult level we have played yet, and get a password.
