Level5Dworc's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=240World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (PC) - Mon, 12 Feb 2007 06:23:50https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1313Let me start by saying I have definately played more than an hour of WoW in the last week. The characters in the game vary. The playable characters are very animateable and interesting, however, the NPC can be very lifeless. This is ofset by the interesting quests that they COULD give. Sometimes a quest feels liek an adventure, however, sometimes it feels like a waste of time (collection quests, grr). One element I really enjoy are the action bars, each ability has an icon associated with it and every action bar a button, so to use an ability one only has to press a button. Also, these action bars are rearrangeable to more customize gameplay. The areas in the game also vary in some areas the payer can go for minutes just trying to find an enemy, other times the player has to fight a few at a time. The game has a great flow since it does not really end. It keeps the player interested because the higher level areas are more interesting so everyone wants to get to a high enough level to go there. It is hard to describe what really keeps a player interested...Mon, 12 Feb 2007 06:23:50 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1313&iddiary=2806The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:19:31https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1026A few things really frustrate me about this game. 1: starting with three hearts instead of full 2: repeating rooms, e.g. a room in which three directions lead you to that same room 3: boss challenges/dungeon challenges, since the dungeons are so hard to find it is difficult to know which item to have when you get there. other than those three things my experience with this game was very enjoyable.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:19:31 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1026&iddiary=2350The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 17:03:33https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1026During my play seesion I noticed a few things that I did not notice before. The characters seem pretty clear though simple, Link(Hero), Bearded Guy (Lord), and so on. There does not seem to be a narrartive progression other than teh dungeons. The gameplay is perfectly simple and yet difficult. My problem with the level design was that some areas would repeat until you go the correct direction (right, left, up, or down) which made it difficult for me to find the dungeons that I had previously visited. The game creates congflict in a few ways, 1: finding where to be (locating vendors, dungeons etc.), 2: defeating the dungeons (defeating bosses, when to use keys), 3: getting through enemies (when to fight or flee). I did experience a sense of flow through its use of the starting room. When you die or save you are returned there. Also the breaking of that, for example afer each dungeon you are returned to the outside of that dugeon.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 17:03:33 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1026&iddiary=2310Soul Caliber III (PS2) - Thu, 18 Jan 2007 04:23:58https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=703Today i bought Soul Calibur III. This first thing I did of course was create a character. This process was a little difficult at first since the control for the menus are not very clear. However, after a couple minutes I got used to scheme and created with ease (creating about 5 characters by the end of the session), Like the Soul Calibur games the fighting feels good to me because it is buttom-mashily simple to configure, but more difficult to master. This game introduces a few new modes to the Soul Calibur series, of them I tried out the "story" type mode in which the player gets an extended version of each characters story. I enjoyed this mode because the story connected the battles together thus bringing more depth to the fighting genre. The games primary conflict is between the player and thier opponent, the secondary conflict iis between the player and the combos, not as much fighting them but figure them out specifically (too many times in a button masher do I say "That was cool..now how did I do that?"). This game will keep me interested for a long while based on the pure scope and depth of the game. With story mode for about 20 characters plus about 8 to 10 classes to create and play, plus "Chronicles of the Sword" which is an RTS campaigne to play through.Thu, 18 Jan 2007 04:23:58 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=703&iddiary=1589Guitar Hero II (PS2) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 03:08:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=550I went back to unlock more stuff and over the two hours of play I beat ten songs on hard and my rommate and his friend played. I'm not very close to my rommate so him and his friends intersecting my life is odd. One thing I've noticed about Guitar Hero 2 is that it brings everyone together. After they finished I tried to beat more songs on hard. I was doing just fine until I hit "Sweet Child Of Mine" by Guns and Roses, this took the greater portion of the second hour to beat. I tried about four times getting about 12% through the song, then I got 72% through the song. After about fifteen tries I decided to quit, but my roomate told me to keep going until the song was beaten. So I did. My figers are bleeding, and my wrist cracks when i move it, but other than that I feel accomplished. I still love the game but I'm noticing the frustration factor that turns some people away from the game.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 03:08:06 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=550&iddiary=1324Guitar Hero II (PS2) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:35:54https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=550Today I've started playing on Hard. After the first few failed attempts I started getting into the grove. I completed six of the regular songs and a couple of bonus songs. Since I got to the more difficult songs on medium I've just felt like such a badass. Even though after about an hour my right arm started to cramp and the fingers on my left hand felt like they were going to fall off. I think this is a good game since it is simply fun. As both a noob and as a slight pro the game keeps me locked and addicted. The most frustrating thing about the game is the difficulty changes from one difficulty to the next. Whenever I play this with someone else in the room either they comment and encourage me or ask to play.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:35:54 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=550&iddiary=1287
