It some times resembles Mario though. I think Nintendo really step up the graphic when Kirby is compare to Mario. The controls were good in that Kirby could do a number of different things with a relatively simple controller. In Kirby’s Adventure one could save throughout the game without a memory card which is a great characteristic in Nintendo games. The character design was fairly simple in a good way and I enjoyed Kirby’s personality. There is a fun, comedy feeling throughout most of the game which was entertaining. I think this can be seen in the short clips when Kirby moves on to the next area and in the bonus rounds like the quick draw. Overall Kirby is a great game and one of my favorite games.Thu, 22 Feb 2007 20:16:36 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1357&iddiary=2890Kirby's Adventure (NES) - Thu, 22 Feb 2007 20:14:56https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1357Kirby Adventure is very similar to Mario which may be one reason why the game is successful. One aspect that makes Kirby a good game is how often Kirby can gain different abilities. Kirby gains these abilities by eating enemies and taking their abilities. Kirby's changing abilities help the game play remain interesting. Another thing I liked about the game was the bonus rounds. There are a number of different bonus rounds which help Kirby earn lives. My favorite one is the quick draw. Prior to this game I had never seen a quick draw element to a video game. I also like the chance to earn an extra life at the end of every level. Kirby’s ability to fly is also a great key element. It adds a new kind of challenge to a platform game.Thu, 22 Feb 2007 20:14:56 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1357&iddiary=2889Devil May Cry 3 (PS2) - Thu, 08 Feb 2007 21:50:23https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1178After playing more Devil May Cry 3 I have come across a number of things I don’t like about the game one of which is the main character. The rest of the characters in the game seem ok but the main character just seems too arrogant for me. I also hate the catch phrases that he says all the time. As I played the game and executed fighting moves Dante would say a certain catch phrase depending on the move; this got old real quick. Many games have some problems with camera angle and this one is no exception. I mostly came across this problem when I was fight enemies. Even though the right analog stick controls the camera I felt that I didn’t have time to use it in this quick pace game. Another thing I didn’t like was how straight forward the puzzles and levels were. There was basically only one way to go the entire game. Even though there are a few problems with this game I still enjoyed playing.Thu, 08 Feb 2007 21:50:23 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1178&iddiary=2520Devil May Cry 3 (PS2) - Thu, 08 Feb 2007 21:50:03https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1178Devil May Cry 3 in my opinion is the best one in the series of three. The game play to me was pretty fun. One of the qualities I liked about the game play was the speed of the game. It was fairly quick pace game which keeps you active and engaged in the game. Another good element of the game play was the array of moves and weapons available. The player is allowed to have four weapons equipped, two gun and a two melee weapons in a single level. Player movement also made for good game play in that Dante was able to move through the level quick and easily. The controls of the game designed fairly well and one quality I particularly like was the ability to change weapons and guns in the middle of the fight with a quick press of a button. I also like the challenge in the game. The enemies and bosses in the game created the main challenge. There was an obvious pattern to the A.I. but if you got hit they took enough life to make the game challenging. The cut scenes were worked in the game play well which was a good way to break the game up and add a story element to the game. So far this game seems to be a descent one.Thu, 08 Feb 2007 21:50:03 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1178&iddiary=2519Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:29:34https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1106There are a few things that I can’t stand about FF XII one of which is the license system. It is almost like the FF X system for gaining abilities except you can’t see where anything is placed. This was a problem for me because I couldn’t really plan the attributes each character was going to have. Also you had to use the license system for character development of physical attributes like hp, mp, magick strength, defense, etc. Furthermore, once you use your license points to get a certain ability you have to go buy that ability. The license system also governs weapons and armor which makes it hard for the player to have the right equipment. I found money is not that easy to come by as well as weapons and armor. I also don’t like the summoning system because it takes all the mp away from the player and reduce your party to two. Also summoning doesn’t seem to do that much damage. I generally like to use the mist system over a summoning because you can chain the mist attack together. A mist attack is basically more powerful special attack. I feel like the bosses in the game are really hard too and that you almost always have to use a mist chain in order to survive. Even though there are some things I can’t stand I think it’s an ok game overall.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:29:34 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1106&iddiary=2359Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:28:49https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1106As most gamers or RPG players know Final Fantasy XII is the newest installment in the series. There are some new elements in the game some of which good and others in my opinion are just annoying. One thing I like about the game is the fact that the player can move around in battle. This allows a delay in the player getting hit and if there low on life and hopefully one of the other two people in the party will kill the enemy before he hits the player. I also like that the player can see the enemy which mean that they can seek out certain battles and avoid others. The battle system seems pretty standard with physical attack, magicks, techniques, and summons all on a menu or list. They also added a feature called gambits. Gambits are basically instructions for the party to follow automatically. For example if a certain situation occurs the people in the party will take the designated action assigned to them. This can be both good and bad depending on if you want to attack certain enemies. The game so far seems to have a decent story; however, I’m having a little trouble remembering who every one is. I don’t know if it’s just because I don’t play the game often or if there is just a lot of characters in the game. Another thing I like about the game is the challenge. It seems like every time I get into a battle I always have to heal during or after. I think that having the magick points gradually return is a nice touch too. This allows the player to use fewer items.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:28:49 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1106&iddiary=2358Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 12:58:34https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=794After playing again there are a number of things that I didn’t like in the ocarina of time for example the lack of options. When I was replay the game this time around we had a controller who’s analog stick didn’t work that well. I wish the game had an option to switch between the d-pad and the analog stick. Another option that would have been nice is the speed of the text. Some of the story parts are a little long and if you replaying it can get a little annoying. Having a hard mode would have been great too since the enemies in the game were too easy. As with all LoZ games there is a save file for the game. This could be looked at as an advantage and a disadvantage. For example if your low on money this is a great game because you don’t need a memory card, however, it you live with a lot of people and they will be playing the game too then there is a lack of save files. After all said and done this is definitely a good game.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 12:58:34 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=794&iddiary=1767Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 12:58:08https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=794I just finished playing an hour or so of the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and enjoyed it almost as much as I did almost ten years ago. I only got about midway through the first dungeon which so far has proven pretty easy. The enemies in this game never seem to be that hard to beat so I think what keeps me interested in the series are the puzzles. Also I really like how simple the controls are which make the game easier to fall into. I think the game designers did a great job switching the from the 2D Zelda to the 3D Zelda. This switch allows the player to view the environment better in regards to reality and it also give the game more complexity as far as puzzles go. So far the only thing that bothers me is that I feel like the game go a slow start. I also like the dramatic change Link went through. He goes from a young boy, which limits him to certain tasks in the game, to a young adult. This transformation opens a number of options for the player, further more the shift between the two state is vital for some puzzles. There is also hidden items in the game to entice the player to explore the LoZ world.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 12:58:08 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=794&iddiary=1766God of War (PS2) - Wed, 17 Jan 2007 14:40:00https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=663After playing another round of God of War I was impressed again, however, I did find some things I would change about the game. One trait I liked in the game was the background and the amount of detail. In Athens the soldiers fighting the enemy in the background just seem to give the game a feeling of chaos that occurs in war. I also enjoyed the main character who had a cold almost “do what you have to do” attitude with no regard to anyone or anything and yet was torn apart by what he has done. Another thing I like was how the game flowed as far as how the main character moved through the game. Some things I would change in the game would be the camera angle. It is a necessity for the players to see the enemies otherwise the game just becomes frustrating. The puzzles, I thought, were not that challenging either. Overall I would have to say this game is one of my top ten.Wed, 17 Jan 2007 14:40:00 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=663&iddiary=1552God of War (PS2) - Tue, 16 Jan 2007 17:33:50https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=663I just played God of War and really enjoyed the game. This action/adventure game is about a general in the Spartan army who has basically sold his soul to the god of war Aries and is haunted by his past. This game had many characteristics that made it fun one of which was the innovation seen with killing the enemy. An enemy could either be kill the old fashion way, hack and slash, or you could do a finishing move unique to that type of enemy which made me feel like a bad ass. The bosses for the most part had to be kill a certain way but to me the ending or finish was usually surprising. The story was fairly simple, straight forward and cut scenes seem few and far between. I did enjoy the idea for the story though as far as the time and place it occurred. I also thought that the Greek mythology correlating with the power ups in the game was a nice touch. So far this game is one of my favorite games.Tue, 16 Jan 2007 17:33:50 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=663&iddiary=1515
