You can juke and deke with one stick and flick to shoot it after your open to score. The game makes it easy to get follow ups. And with more follow ups you score more goals which then leads to more fun. The other aspect of this game I enjoyed was the social play. The games are a little long, but throughout the entirety of play super fast paced. Its fun trying to defeat your friends. Scoring on their goalies satisfies so much, but almost as much as completely knocking someone out in a bone crushing hit. This game was very fun to play with a friend. Design The two most innovative aspects of this game that I found are the shot stick and the fights. The game is so lifelike, and it looks like a real televised game. The fights allow another aspect to enter the game. You can punch and dodge until you or your opponent is knocked cold. The shot stick lets you wind up for a huge shot or snap a quick wrist shot. It really works well with giving the player complete control. The game worlds for this game are the various arenas for the different teams. It has the crowd screaming and yelling the whole game, and the ice is perfect. This game really appeals to two player action. It creates a great stat system that keeps track of everything you and your friend do. Overall this was a very fun game.Thu, 06 Mar 2008 02:24:53 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3162&iddiary=5907NHL 2008 (PS3) - Thu, 06 Mar 2008 02:12:50https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3162Summary In NHL 2008 you get to choose your favorite hockey team and match up with any other to prove who is the best. The game gives you a chance to be a part of the fast paced action with awesome graphics and lifelike moves. It gives you the chance to use super slap shots and quick wrist shots, but one of the best parts of the game is the fighting. All around the best hockey game I have played. Gameplay This game captures all of the emotion of the game and will entice any player. You can choose from any player and control them in the games. The game is very fast paced for a sports game, and that makes the shots and hits that much more intense. The game has great graphics, stats, pictures, and bios of all of the NHL players. The gameplay to the game was very enjoyable. The hits were so hard, and shooting was very diverse in options. You hit the puck with one stick and aim with the other. The social play is very fun. You can getin fights with each other, and take each other's players out. Very sweet.Thu, 06 Mar 2008 02:12:50 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3162&iddiary=5889Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Wed, 20 Feb 2008 17:32:23https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2719ENTRY 2 GAMEPLAY The multiplayer of this game is very valuable. It is very fun to actually learn the maps and know where you are going to find your opponents. The multiplayer gives instant competition for any gamer. There are many different game types that you can choose to play to keep the game fresh. The levels are pretty fun and for a 3-D shooter create a good atmosphere and obstacles for combat. In one player mode the story is pretty intense, and predictable at the same time. As most Bond stories go you end up saving the world from near destruction. I liked the weapons and ammo in the game. You could always be running into a room and almost expect there to be a weapon of some choice, which is critical in the multiplayer, because slappers do not always cut it. DESIGN This game was very innovating creating a semi smooth 3-D first person shooter. It was very innovative t have the smart self locking on when you shot, because with the available controls its hard to actually aim. This makes it easier for all to play. The levels to this game are pretty cool, which for a game at this time pretty life like. The single player missions were generally all one path that you have to follow with doors needing to be unlocked to continue on. This was acceptable for the game, because it was constant action the whole way through. The tone to this game throughout to me seemed pretty dark. It almost gave the feel of an old communist Russia on some levels. It made the game play a little more hardcore by making you feel like world was being destroyed. The characters were pretty square and not incredibly detailed. However, this doesn’t take too much away from the game, because it still has a fun point and an entertaining game play. The games reward was more characters and levels as you beat different missions. This really makes the multiplayer even more of a jewel to the game.Wed, 20 Feb 2008 17:32:23 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2719&iddiary=5116Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Wed, 20 Feb 2008 17:11:13https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2719SUMMARY In this groundbreaking first person shooter, the player controls James Bond through epic missions, or you can battle it out with your friends from a selection of many characters. There are many different guns: pistols, rifles, sniper, shotgun, throwing knives, and different mines that explode either by motion, remote, or timed. In multiplayer you can play with three other friends, and on a version of most of the single player levels. GAMEPLAY This game really gets the player into it by creating an intense scene of gunfire and explosions. You have to be very aware of where all of your enemies are otherwise you run the risk of being shot in the back. The characters were graphically not very advanced but at the time they did well enough to portray the story. All of the characters were known from the previous stories of James Bond, and I thought that was cool because those characters already had a background and you don’t have to waste time explaining the story of each individual character introduced. The game play was interesting for a game at this time. It really led to a breakout of first person shooters. The controls for this game are pretty simple and limiting. You can aim, but not aim and move. The sights on the game are all automatic, which is kind of neat, but it’s tough to hit some people cause it doesn’t always lock on to the right thing. That cause a little frustration, because of how smooth the games are now. You can’t jump in this game, and I like that, because it makes it seem more like real people are actually running around shooting each other.Wed, 20 Feb 2008 17:11:13 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2719&iddiary=5111Pilot Wings 64 (N64) - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 22:45:00https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2479Entry #2 Game Play When I came back to play more I realized that this game's controls were very sensitive and you have to be very steady to have any success. I enjoyed having to shoot targets with rockets. The game had multiple views for each category, which came in very handy depending on whether you were flying or shooting rockets or photos. The game had some very hard tasks and some tough flying throughout all of the levels. I enjoyed the game because it was easy to progress each time you play the levels. I also enjoyed that you couldn't beat every level first try, or get a gold medal, which increases game play length. I thought that was an effective and easy way to make a games game play value higher by making the difficulty high. The levels were neat because there were always cool things around to look down upon while you are soaring overhead. Design This game was very innovative. Being almost like a flight simulator, Nintendo was able to recreate the actual difficulty of flying. The controls are super sensitive and almost like an actual control stick. Also with the simple graphics they were able to fit a game of this type onto the N64. The levels were simple but very different. sometimes it was snowing, sunny, windy, and all different kinds of flying conditions. This added to the difficulty and variety of scenery greatly. The game is pretty much progressive the entire time. You just have set tasks and tests to pass, and you just have to do well on your time, landing, and executing your other task to the level. I enjoyed the rewards of more secret games, because they are very fun to play. The reward screen is pretty simple and just a graphic that says in all shiny words GOLD MEDAL CONGRATULATIONS. Overall I thought this was a pretty new and daring game for the N64, and I find it very fun to play.Fri, 08 Feb 2008 22:45:00 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2479&iddiary=4691Pilot Wings 64 (N64) - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 22:28:00https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2479Summary In Pilot Wings 64 the player controls a character in various flying machines. You can choose between a hang glider, rocket belt, gyrocopter,a birdman, cannon, and sky diving. In each of these you are put through different tests and difficulties. In some levels you have to fly through rings, take pictures, blow things up with rockets, hit targets, and landing is probably the hardest task of them all. Game Play When I first started playing this game I became easily frustrated with the difficulty to get high scores and honors. The characters were similar to those on the Wii, cartoony looking people with more of block shapes to them. There isn't a story to this game at all, but this kind of game is just to complete the difficult pilot missions to prove that you are the best pilot. this gme was very addicting because it was extremely hard to get a perfect score or even just a gold medal. As you progress through the game you have to achieve a certain amount of points to receive medals. There are bronze, silver, and gold medal. The higher scores and better medals achieve new extra games to compete in, which I think more game is definitely a good reward. This game is not a very social game, but fun to pass the time when you are bored.Fri, 08 Feb 2008 22:28:00 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2479&iddiary=4682Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Fri, 25 Jan 2008 21:06:41https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2099Gamelog Entry #2 Gameplay The one player mode doesn't really have a story at all. Basically just battle through a series of opponents. I enjoyed the different single player levels, because it gets you doing more than just brawling. The break the target and board the platform levels gives you an opportunity to master your powers in other ways and it gets you to use powers for other reasons than just killing. I also liked the team battles in the 1 player mode. They gave you an opportunity to learn new strategies, and help when you couldn't do it on your own. I didn't enjoy the master hand on the last level. I felt it limited some characters because thier special powers would not work on the boss. This causes you to just have to resort to melee attacks which are the same for all the characters. Design This game was a completely new and innovative game. Its an instant classic that can hardly go old. The most innovative aspect was bringing together a cast of the most popular Nintendo characters and giving them attacks just to brawl and battle it out between themselves. The characters are all equal and have specials that vary them from others. The levels are all 2-D but this keeps it simple. The levels are all different settings that match a character. Basically they are all a platform that you can fall off of or knock your opponent off. This game doesn't have a story or much of a reward system, but it definitely creates so much emotion between the players. The reward for this game is irritating your opponent by knocking them off. Which for a multi player game is a huge reward for any gamer.Fri, 25 Jan 2008 21:06:41 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2099&iddiary=4116Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Fri, 25 Jan 2008 14:42:29https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2099Gamelog Entry #1 Summary In Super Smash Brothers you control one out of 12 of your favorite and most popular characters from Nintendo games. In mulitiplayer you battle against three other characters using a combination of melee and special attacks. As you damage another player their damage percentage increases, and the more damaged you are the further you fly after being hit. The goal is to knock your opponents off of the platform you are playing on, and the last one standing wins. Gameplay This game really gets you into it by creating instant competition against you and your friends. It got people upset almost every time that they died. It was awesome to see characters like Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Kirby battle it out. Each Character has their own special abilities and powers, but they made it so not one character has an advantage over any other. This added to the social play because anyone had a chance to win. The controls for each character are virtually the same. You can master one character and quickly catch on how to use another character. A big part of each level are the items. You can pick up various items that fall from the sky to brawl with. Items can change the outcome of every game. You could be getting dominated but get a hammer and kill everyone. I thought this was a very cool addition to the game, because it made the outcome hard to predict, which is my favorite part to any multiplayer game.Fri, 25 Jan 2008 14:42:29 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2099&iddiary=4044Battle Tanx: Global Assault (N64) - Mon, 14 Jan 2008 14:20:47https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1735Game Log Entry 2 GAMEPLAY After coming back and playing more I realized how neat the Co-Op option is for campaign mode. You and your friend are able to team up and dominate any force that opposes. I also liked the varying goals in each level to keep you from just repeating the same thing over and over again. The goals to the levels are not too complicated so its pretty easy to catch on and complete missions. The tanks are very neat, and I fell in love with one particularly, the FLP-E tank. You can roll and tumble out from corners, or use your mobility to dodge or escape danger. Other tanks are very neat too, and you can choose from a fast small tank or a huge tank that delivers massive damage but is hard to control and move. The various choices for tanks gives you the freedom to dominate in whichever strategy or way you would prefer. DESIGN This game was not the first of its kind, but had major improvements compared to the first Battle Tanx. They added more weapons, tanks, and the graphics and game play became much smoother. The levels were decent. They design the levels with the setting of actual places in the United States and Europe, all with the nuclear devastation style of emptiness. The game brings different challenges for different levels, however they are all pretty similar, where you either destroy tanks, save prisoners, or destroy buildings. The game is pretty simply designed, and you can fully explore all levels to their fullest and are kept in a certain arena by usually a fence or some other kind of border trapping you only to a select place. This isn't so bad to be restricted, because it allows you to just destroy all in a smaller area rather than traveling all over and getting lost. The game has different rewards, but none that really stress any necessity to achieve. If i were to change anything to the game it would be more varied weapons and tanks. Also if the levels could be filled with a little more destruction, and more less permanent buildings that can never be destroyed. You are a tank and i think you should be able to blast down anything in your way. Overall the game was a simple plot and did not go very in depth with the story line. It makes for an entertaining and busy game mostly good for its multi-player replay value.Mon, 14 Jan 2008 14:20:47 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1735&iddiary=3591Battle Tanx: Global Assault (N64) - Mon, 14 Jan 2008 13:55:17https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1735Game Log Entry 1 SUMMARY Battle Tanx: Global Assault has an epic co-op campaign, where a disease kills 99.9% of women on Earth, and as the Earth tears itself apart searching for all the women, one woman captures your only son giving you your motivation to start the domination. You command one tank out of your fleet, but as the game progresses you unlock new tanks which are in a way a rewrd each time you pas a level. As you play the levels you face tanks, boats, turrets, and gun buddies. You blow up buildings and collect special item boxes, which give you health, power ups, or new weapons to use on your enemies. When you die you use tank bucks to buy new tanks, and they all vary in price. Yo find tank bucks throughout the levels in hidden areas and in the ruble of buildings that you destroy. GAMEPLAY The play for this game is very entertaining and addicting. In the very beginning of the game the story goes straight for your family. I felt that this gave a very good reason for anyone to fight for. The graphics for the time are not bad, and they kept all the desins pretty simple. Each level is a completely different area. The levels were very neat taking you clear across the United States and even into Europe. All of the different tanks were very fun to use, because with each type comes a new or slightly different strategy of play. The different tank gangs really reminded me of a tank version of The Warriors, which I thought was really cool. I really liked going acros the globe wiping out complete gangs of tanks hired to destroy you. The addition of tank bucks really was an instentive to destroy all the buildings, and to explore the entire map. They add a new goal to the game other than just killing tanks, you are challenged with new ways to reach those boxes of much needed tank bucks.Mon, 14 Jan 2008 13:55:17 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1735&iddiary=3588
