BEEFcakes's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=543Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas (XBX) - Tue, 11 Mar 2008 15:15:47https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3223GAMEPLAY: Just with the first hour, this game was ridiculously fun to play. I progressed through the cities. I was introduced to new characters and I was able to afford new clothes and haircuts. I also saved a girl and got a girlfriend. It tracks my progress with her. I have the choice of taking her out on dates and trying to satisfy her. The story got more interesting especially when I was able to move to a new city. I got an airplane license so now I can fly wherever I like. There was definite flow to this game. The story progresses perfectly and as you get stronger you are open to new possibilities. DESIGN: GTA is one of a kind. It is a great free-roam game. There are different neighborhoods and they are designed off a real neighborhood just like the cities. There are a lot of different cars and depending on where you are, different cars drive around. So when you are around the beach, there are a lot of dune buggies. The levels are really varied. There are so many different things in this game. This game is pretty hard if you don't use cheats. Some people say that you are supposed to use cheats in GTA. And I am one of those people. I tried playing the game without cheats and it way too hard. The cheats are made to make the game more fun. Because there is so much variety in this game, cheating opens up new parts of the game you haven't seen. This game is really good at keeping the player interested. I would not change anything about this game. I have had a great time playing this game and I recommend it to everyone but don't take this game literally. Remember that it is just a game.Tue, 11 Mar 2008 15:15:47 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3223&iddiary=6068Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas (XBX) - Tue, 11 Mar 2008 15:00:45https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3223SUMMARY: In Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, the goal of the game is to go from city to city taking over gangs and becoming the most powerful gangster in the world. There are many things you must complete before you gain this throne. GAMEPLAY: This game is really entertaining to play. It is completely ridiculous in terms of what you are doing. But you have complete freedom over what you do and that is really fun for a player. While playing I was excited about what the game would throw at me next. What ridiculous mission I had to carry out or what I was going to customize my character and cars as. The main character, Carl "CJ" Johnson, has just returned to his home to find that his mother is dead and his old gang, Grove Street Families, is in disarray. While you go through missions, you start to find out more and more about your mother death, and you also start to build up your gang and business. The other characters in this games are great. Samuel L. Jackson does the voice for a corrupt cop and all the characters have great personalities that you either love or hate. The story line of this game is great. The game itself is huge so along with the story that goes with the missions, you can make your own story with other things in the game. People on the street react to you and you can reply positively or negatively and depending on how the conversation goes, you could end up fighting or getting a good word from a girl. The possibilities are endless in this game. There are so many things to discover and find out. It can keep you entertained for hours. The social interactions are great. It's fun to watch people play this game because everyone has a different way of controlling CJ. I had a blast playing this game.Tue, 11 Mar 2008 15:00:45 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3223&iddiary=6067Diddy Kong Racing (N64) - Thu, 21 Feb 2008 15:55:50https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2703GAMEPLAY #2 The second hour of playing this game was just as fun as the first. This game just does not get boring. The races got harder so I had to try them a couple times, but it was never frustrating. The new worlds were more fun and finding the secret world was exciting. I played with other people too during the second hour. The battle levels were really fun to play with people. We played them over and over and it was always a different outcome. Basically this game never got boring to play. DESIGN For an N64 game, I would say that the graphic design to this game is really impressive. Everything flowed smoothly and there weren't any glitches. Even in the multiplayer aspect, the screens weren't blurry. The design of this game was really colorful and vibrant. And since there are so many different worlds, they all looked different and had something special about them. Each level had a different flow to it. You could either focus on getting the boosts or you could focus on getting bananas and balloons. The power ups in this game are really fun and you always have a choice of what you want unlike Mario Kart. If you needed a boost, you go for three blue balloons or if you needed to slow someone down you could get the homing missile. I like this because I like having the choice of what I want to do. This game keeps the player interested because the levels get harder and they change so much. There are also short cuts you can find. The area you start out in is kind of cool because you can explore it. That is what amazed me when I was little. I thought it was so cool that I could fly around and explore something. For some reason when I was little I could always find cool new things. Whether it was doing tricks in the plane or jumping up a waterfall in the hovercraft, I was always entertained. I can't even think of anything that is frustrating about this game. The other thing that amazed me about this game was that it actually had cut scenes. When you got a key or won some race, there was always a cut scene. This was the first N64 game that I had played that had cut scenes. Diddy Kong Racing is a really solid and fun game to play by yourself or with other people.Thu, 21 Feb 2008 15:55:50 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2703&iddiary=5502Diddy Kong Racing (N64) - Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:46:49https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2703SUMMARY Diddy Kong Racing is a simple game where you go through a fantasy world as a character of your choice. The objective of the game is to rid the land of Wizpig, the tyrannical pig who has taken over. You go through different worlds that get harder as you progress and you have three vehicles to choose from, car, hovercraft, and plane. At the end of each world, there is a boss to beat. GAMEPLAY #1 You start this game out in a small comfortable fantasy land. You are greeted by a big blue elephant genie. He explains what is going on in the world and why he needs your help. You can drive around the world and explore but sometimes you need a plane or hovercraft to get into certain worlds. I really like how there is an actual story behind this game and there is a world to explore. You have a choice over which race you want to do. The only thing barring you from a certain race would be the amount of balloons you need to qualify for that race. You get balloons by winning races, beating bosses, and finding them around the world. After going through all the races in one world, you race against the boss and then after beating them, you have to do all the races over again and collect silver coins while still racing. You must get every silver coin and get first place. Then you race the boss again. This may seem repetitive but it actually is really challenging and fun. The sound track to this game is great and the visual ambiance is pleasing. There is still more within one world though. There is a trophy race which is like grand prix. Then there is a locked door and the only way to open it is to find a key in one of the races in that world. Once you find that key, you compete in a different kind of race. There are races to collect items, and races where you battle each other. This game is really fun to play. Some races get frustrating, but there is so much other stuff to do that you never get stuck on one thing without having the ability to win some other race. You have a choice between different kid friendly animals. There are some characters I recognized like Diddy Kong obviously, and Banjo. I love the story of this game. It's simple but it keeps you engaged. It's not mindless racing, you are racing for a reason. This game is just really light hearted and fun to play and watch. Someone who was watching me play actually said that is was pleasing for him to watch me and even exciting.Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:46:49 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2703&iddiary=5099Burnout Paradise (360) - Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:10:16https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2603GAMEPLAY #2 While playing this game for the second time, I had more fun because I understood more of what to do and I had better cars. I unlocked a van which basically was a tank. And that was fun for the challenges when I had to take out other cars. However the gameplay did get a little repetitive. The races are always the same so you end up going the same route every time. And I started to get less into it. But I did find this one area with huge jumps and it was exciting to do barrel rolls and flatspins. DESIGN The design of this game is great. The cars looks very very real and Paradise City looks amazing. It actually looks like a real city. There is a downtown with billboards all over the place and then there is a more residential area and even a country. Too bad it couldn't be a real city. Pretty much from the get go, you know what the challenges of the game are. The only way this game keeps the player interested is if the player has dedication. I know I wanted to unlock better cars, so that is what kept me hooked. If I were to change something, I would make the challenges change more when you level up your licenses. Change up the races more and also change up the races so some of the huge jumps are incorporated in the race. And there are basically only three buttons you need to press in this game. So mastering the controls become pretty easy. This can be good and bad. But if you want to play a fun driving game with really great graphics, this game is for you.Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:10:16 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2603&iddiary=4942Burnout Paradise (360) - Thu, 07 Feb 2008 23:10:37https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2374SUMMARY Burnout Paradise is a game where you drive around a fictional city called Paradise City and compete in various competitions while unlocking new cars. The object of the game is to get an elite drivers license which means beating every competition and unlocking every car. GAMEPLAY This game has an amazing visual aspect to it. It is really pleasing to drive around the free roam Paradise City. I really liked the other Burnout games so I was willing to stick with this one. I can see how it would be repetitive and somewhat annoying if you had never played a Burnout game before. There are no characters in this game, only your cars. Each has their own kind of personality, but you don't get emotionally attached to them. Also, there is no story to the game so the only drive you really have to keep playing is to see all the locked cars. This game is really fun to play. There are all kinds of things to do in Paradise City. Huge jumps, long straight-aways, and much more. One of the objectives of the game is to smash through 120 billboards with your car. Some are only reachable when you get better cars. There are also 50 super jumps you can discover. Last but not least, there were 400 gates you could break through to find certain jumps and short cuts. Once you completed each of those, you were rewarded a car. So there are many different ways of obtaining all the cars. It is hard to get stuck in this game because of all the possibilities. The game definitely was interesting to play. There are a lot of cool things to see around the city and different areas to explore. This game is a single player game so the only way to play with other people is if you go online. Bystanders to this game were enjoying it. The cars are ridiculously fast and it's exciting to see just how long someone can stay alive while going as fast as they can. The online aspect of this game is pretty fun. You can compete in any of the competitions with up to 8 people. You can also just drive around and run into people or do some cool stunts.Thu, 07 Feb 2008 23:10:37 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2374&iddiary=4521Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Wed, 23 Jan 2008 20:41:39https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1996SUMMARY Well there is a single player aspect to Super Smash Brothers but it really isn't gripping. You go through some pretty short levels where you face various bosses but there isn't a real in depth story. It is pretty fun taking on 18 kirby's but it gets old after a while. Before you start you get to choose between many different characters. Ranging from Link, Kirby, Mario, Donkey Kong, and many others. Each has their own different attacks. The object of the single player is to get through each level and then kill the boss hand at the end. The hand is pretty difficult at first but you figure out each of it's attacks and you can easily beat it after that. GAMEPLAY #1 I had played this game before when I was younger but this game still maintains it's childish nature...even though it is violent, it is good natured. You can easily get frustrated if you are playing with people who know what they are doing but you catch on to your character easily enough. While playing the game, everyone is laughing and having a great time. Even people who are watching have a good time commentating. The characters in this game are great. They are all your favorite classic characters. There really isn't much to the story here. The point to the story is that each character is a toy and the hand you fight at the end is the "human." I don't really like the story. For me, the only reason to play this game is if other people want to play against you. The multiplayer aspect to this game is ridiculously fun. Everyone who comes in and sees Super Smash Brothers gets wide eyed and wants to play. Each match is fun and each is unique because you do different things to people and different items drop. GAMEPLAY #2 After playing again for another 45 minutes or so, I got a lot better at the character I chose. It was a lot more fun and I could actually feel like I had control over my character. While playing with other people, it tended to make them angry or frustrated at times. It starts out to be fun but you need to play the game in small doses. Even playing it for 45 minutes was too much. It also got a little repetitive. DESIGN As fun as Super Smash Brothers is, it's not a game that you get into. You don't get very emotionally connected to it at all. The graphics aren't amazing but it is an old game. They are pretty advanced for their times and each level has different little quircks to it. Obstacles come in to play in different levels. Like tornadoes, spaceships, lava, and many more. The only thing that was frustrating about this game was how the players moved sometimes. The timing of the moves was weird too. You have to figure out the timing of the game to have the upper hand. It's exciting to get the powerups. There really is no reward system. The only reward you get for winning is being able to see your characters dancing while the other one clap for you. So you can't really get that attached to the game. A downside to the game is that it is basically just a lot of button mashing. Each character only has about 3 moves that they can do. So there isn't much versatility. You also just end up seeing the same thing over and over between characters. (This entry has been edited1 time. Halo has always had a lot of hype around its name and this one definitely lives up to that. Each level has a really captivating environment and there is never a moments rest. The game has a way of swallowing you up and making you never want to stop playing. Single player is one thing but once you get online and play, it opens up a whole new part to Halo 3. There are so many choices you have in terms of what type of game you want to play. It is hard to get sick of them. GAMEPLAY I never got sick of playing the game when I tried it out for the first time. I have liked the Halo games in the past so I was really eager to try this one out. Master Chief is back in action and he looks better than ever. In some of the levels you are fighting alongside the Arbiter and this time he actually helps you out when fighting. You feel like you have an actual partner and I was happy when he showed up in certain levels. Guilty Spark makes an appearance again and has even more attitude than it did in the previous Halo games. Again he helps Master Chief through some levels but he takes a turn for the worst at the end. The relationship you build with the different characters is fun and exciting. You feel like you are fighting for a reason. The story line is interesting enough that you are actually interested when a cut scene comes up. The scenes aren't too long and there is enough to keep you interested for the whole game. If you don't pay attention, it's not as fun to go through the levels. The gameplay is really smooth and the enemies react to your actions in a realistic manner. You can choose to go head first into the fray of things or you can be more cautious. The thing about Halo is that some of the levels are just ridiculous. There are so many people to fight and when you are by yourself, it can get very frustrating. But once you get past that wall, you feel very rewarded. Halo 3 is a great game to play with your friends. The multiplayer aspect to the game is one of the best in my opinion. Games can get very intense but they are always fun. You always end of laughing and having a good time. You can move up in rank when you play online. It is really fun to move up in rank and you want to try harder and harder to get better. You are also rewarded with getting new types of armor when you beat the single player missions on different difficulties. You can also win new armor when you get better online. It is also fun to team up with friends and play against other people from all over the world. DESIGN: The design in this game obviously took a long time. This game is very pleasing to look at and and the environments are really intricate. You can get caught on certain levels but you tend to get past them with 3-4 tries. I think this Halo has a better level design because it seems like there is more space to use and more ways of attacking your enemy. There is only one way to go but the levels aren't confining. If you are looking for a fun game to play and a fun game to play with your friends, then Halo 3 is your choice. It is always fun to pop into your Xbox 360 and play. (This entry has been edited1 time.
