magicwaterman's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=549Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (PC) - Wed, 05 Mar 2008 16:03:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3017Gameplay: This game was very fun to play because it simply was very easy to play. All the mobs and monsters were really easy to kill, the quest weren’t too hard, you leveled really fast, and there was a lot of cool content to be seen in every level. One thing that was really interesting in this game was that, each boss had different techniques and some bosses were very hard. Also sometimes there would be random special mobs that spawned random skills and techniques. For example there are some mobs called the High Council. Each game they are different and they can have some really weird abilities. Sometimes they can shoot out lighting, sometimes they are lighting immune, and sometimes when you hit them you get slowed for about 3 seconds. Another thing is that the mobs sometimes spawn with funny names, or names that don’t really relate to the game. I experienced a lot of flow when playing this game because this game has very smooth scene transitions. Since there are a lot of cut scenes, you get a lot of feel for the game and it just flows when you play. After you beat a boss there is cinematic where you see your party getting the last blow on the boss. Once you finish him, there is another cinematic where you progress to the next act, and you see the next bosses that you have to kill. Design: If I could change one thing about this game, I would want to add more content to this game. You finish the first couple acts pretty quick if you have a decent party. Also another thing that I want to change is that when you beat the game on hell difficulty I’d want to be able to access the easier difficulty modes. For instance when people create nightmare games, I want to be able to join them or see them. Other than that I really like this game and I wouldn’t really change much. Although the game does end pretty quickly, it takes a long time to get your character geared out with the best gear. Even with a lot of play time you might not even be able to get the items you want, because all the drops are random, unless you either buy or trade it. The reward structure for this game comes purely from random drops and from bosses, most of the time though they are from bosses. This game rewards you when you kill a boss, so the more times you kill the boss, the better your chance of getting the items you want. So basically you are being rewarded for your time. The more time you spend farming a boss the better your chance of getting the items. I remember when I played this game, I would spend two to three hours farming a boss called Mephisto, and I remember never getting good items, and then one day I killed a random rare spawn and I got a unique item. This game is social game because you need to party in order to complete some parts of the game. It is not recommended to party, but partying definitely makes it a lot easier, also you get more experience in a party, because you kill stuff a lot faster. Also there is a lot of communication involved during boss fights to tell people to kill which mobs first or who the real monster is, if there is a clone. Overall I think Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction is a very good game, I recommend it to anyone that likes playing a simple RPG.Wed, 05 Mar 2008 16:03:06 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3017&iddiary=5667Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (PC) - Wed, 05 Mar 2008 15:42:17https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3017Summary: The game I demoed was Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction. It is the expansion of the regular Diablo 2. In this game you pick your class (Barbarian, Amazon, Paladin, Sorceress, Necromancer, Druid, and Assassin), once you picked your class you start in Act 1 on normal difficulty. You can fight through the game and complete the quest either by yourself or with a party. There are bosses here and there and there are 5 main bosses that you kill. Once you have defeated the last boss Baal, then you can progress to the next difficulty which is nightmare and then hell. When you finish the game difficulty on Hell, you can continue to join Hell games and farm other items and run bosses. As you continue to play the game you gain experience and level up, the more you play the more experience you get. When you level up you get new skills and talents, as well as being allowed to use better items. Gameplay: I thought the characters in this game are all really fun. They each have their own special talents and builds. Some builds work better than other, but the good thing about this game is that all builds will allow you to get through the game by yourself. So let’s say I picked a Sorceress, I could either go pure lighting, fire, or ice. Or I could try to go both fire and ice. Also each skill tree gives you different abilities that are really cool and unique to the character. When I was playing this game I was really excited because it was easy to learn. Compared to most RPG’s, they get pretty complicated but D2 was really easy to learn. Another thing I liked about it was that you don’t die very much. You can always pop potions and survive off potions. They are also very cheap and you can buy them anywhere. I like this because, one of the most frustrating thins about a new game is that if you constantly die, you get sort of annoyed with the game, and then you don’t really want to play it. When I first started playing Diablo 2, I really liked their story because it was unique and easy to understand. It wasn’t super complicated and long, it was a short story that got straight to the point. Also there are a lot of cut scenes in the movie after each boss battle. So you could see like sort of an embedded narrative in the game. This made the game easy to understand, and you knew why you were playing this class and etc.Wed, 05 Mar 2008 15:42:17 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3017&iddiary=5662Wii Sports (Wii) - Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:50:45https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2706Gameplay: The game Wii sports has a lot of flow because you get to play better opponents as you rank up. This gives the player a challenge although the CPU isn't that great until you get to the pro stages, but even then they aren't that good. I like how the game sort of challenges yourself because when your playing bowling if you skill is really high and you play poorly then your skill goes down. This makes you constantly try hard when your bowling because if you don't you skill will go down. Sometimes playing this game will get very frustrating because sometimes your Wii remote isn't as sensitive as you thought it would be or when you swing it wouldn't register and you would miss. So this game could be good and bad at the same time. Most of the time though you will be pretty happy because your Remote will register . But there are times where you just mess up and you can get really frustrated especially when it is a really close game and you lose due to the fact that your remote had an error. This game is very social especially if your playing with your friends. You can play with up to 4 people and each game is super fun to play. One of my favorites is 4 player tennis because you a lot of communication is involved if the person in front misses the ball. Overall Wii sports is a very social and fun game to play, although there are times were you could get really frustrated playing it. Design: This game keeps the player interested because the better you get the harder the challenges or the levels become. Also if you skill up each time you do good and you can skill down each time you do bad. So if you wanted to be a pro you have to constantly perform good or else you will drop. I wouldn't change anything about the game because i think Wii Sports is really well designed. If anything i would want to add more games to it and make them have more levels. After a certain point you sort of run out of things to do, for instance Golf. In golf after 9 holes there are no more courses or holes. Although the wind changes every game after a while the wind is the same as the first time you played. The game needs more variety and more sports. This would make this game a really good, but since this game was free and it came with the console its okay. I really like the reward structure of the game because when you win you rank up and when you reach a skill of 1000 points you get pro items and stuff. For instance if you get 1000 points in bowling, your bowling ball is all shiny and has stars on it while if you weren't a pro it would just be a plain old bowling ball. The designers of Wii sports invented something new and fun for everyone. This game can be played by anyone and even parents love this game. Another thing i love about it, is that it is sort of a workout. If you are actually trying and playing the game like a real sport you get a pretty good workout.Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:50:45 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2706&iddiary=5100Wii Sports (Wii) - Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:34:09https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2706Summary: The game Wii Sports is something that was totally new for console games. Wii Sports is an interactive game where you use your Wii Remote and Nunchuck to do real life motions to play the game. There are multiple sports to choose from which include: Bowling, Tennis, Boxing, Baseball, and Golf. If you were too choose to play Bowling, you could pick how many people you wanted to play and then you would just play. You would hold down the buttons like you were holding a bowling ball and then when you think you need to release the buttons you would. There isn't really a goal to this game except to get good at it and master it. Although if you really wanted a goal, one goal could be to be a pro at or have a skill rating of 1000 or above. Gameplay: I thought the characters in this game were really cool and it was something new. I really liked it because you could make your own character or Mii. When you make your character you can design them to your specific specifications. Although making characters is not part of the game, it is part of the console. Also when you create your own character you can upload it to the Wii Sports game and play the sports using your own character. The gameplay of Wii Sports is very addicting. It is addicting because you feel like your actually playing the game. You are controlling the character with your own movements and each swing of the Wii remotes counts as a swing for your Mii. Since there are so many games like baseball and gold you can constantly play and you will never get bored of the games. Also if you do ever get bored of playing just the games, you could play with your friends instead of playing the computer. If your friends are busy then you could play the fitness training which keeps your scores over a long period of time and it shows if your improving or not. Also there are challenges where you can try to see if you mastered a sport. Some challenges include the bowling challenges where you bowl and each time you bowl more pins appear. So lets say the first frame is 10 pins the 2nd frame is 20 and so forth until its 99 pins. Another type of challenge that you can do are the Tennis challenges where you practice aiming your shots and etc. Overall Wii Sports has a very good game play and is definitely fun to play. If you are an owner of a Wii then it is default that you have it and very worth it to play.Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:34:09 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2706&iddiary=5096Counter Strike (PC) - Wed, 06 Feb 2008 19:32:35https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2345Gameplay: Counter-Strike is a very social game. The game is purely based on communication. Without good communication, your team will not be able to succeed or get very far. The reason why you need good communication is because you need to be able to tell your allies where your enemies are, when to coordinate attacks, and when to push or get the flank. Counter-Strike has integrated an in game voice to voice communication program that allows you talk to other players on your team. The game has a lot of flow to it because once you start playing you get into a groove where you just need to keep playing. You get addicted to shooting and killing people and also finishing the objectives. When your team works together as a team it gets really fun because people aren't scared to trust their allies. I've had experiences where people would "bait" each other. That mean that people would tell you to go in first and they said they'd follow you in, but instead they would wait for you to die and whittle down the enemy, at that point they would run in and steal the kill. If you were playing with a team that you could trust, you could both run in together and then you guys would both have a better chance of killing the enemy. I've played counter-strike for a while now and i can honestly tell you that i can always come back to this game and play it. That is because Counter-Strike is different each time you play. There are at least 30 weapons you can buy which range from Machine guns to pistols to Grenades and Flash bangs. Each weapon is very different from one another. Design: The one thing that i thought was very good about this game was that each gun's recoil was very different and unique. And mastering each weapon is very time consuming and takes a lot of practice. Also they seem really realistic and keeps the shooter focused at all times. If i could change things about this game, i wouldn't. This game is a classic and I've been playing this game since i was in 7th grade. Although there are times where it is really frustrating. Such as when you die early and it takes forever for the round to end. The games reward structure follows a real life sort of way. That is because when you win a round you are rewarded with more money which you can use to buy different or stronger weapons. In real life when you accomplish a mission you probably get money too. Each level in this game is very unique, with different hide outs and sniping spots it really keeps the players on there feet. You never know when you turn a corner and someone could be right there to shoot you. Also the levels are scattered with objects to hide behind to protect you from stray bullets. One thing i like about this game is that some guns can go through the objects. For instance an M4A1 can go through boxes and create ands just like a real M4A1 can. it makes the game more realistic and allows good players to judge where the enemy might be behind the wall and spam it with bullets. Overall Counter-Strike is a very good game, the game play and design mechanics behind it are flawless. Even though, they came out with more realistic versions of counter-strike such as Condition Zero and Counter-Strike: Source. A lot of people still play the original.Wed, 06 Feb 2008 19:32:35 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2345&iddiary=4483Counter Strike (PC) - Wed, 06 Feb 2008 19:15:08https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2345Summary: Counter-Strike is a classic online FPS that is fun and exciting to play. In Counter-Strike you get to choose whether you want to be a terrorist or a counter-terrorist. Once you have chosen which you want to be you need to wait until the round is over, that is either the Terrorist or CT's complete the objective (bombing, hostage rescue, or protect the VIP). When the round starts you get a certain ammount of time to buy your weapons, once you have bought your weapons then you can go on and carry out your mission. If your a terrorist you just need to plant the bomb, if your a CT then you need to defend the bomb site and etc for the other types of objectives. This continues until you hit a certain amount of rounds for example 15. Gameplay: When i first started playing counter-strike i was addicted instantly. What makes counter-strike so fun is that everything is random. You never know what could happen. People can pop out anywhere and shoot you. The characters in this game fit very well because it can be related to real life. For example the CT's could be Navy seals and the Terrorist can be Terrorist. The Unit models are also designed very well, each team can choose up to 4 models which range from Arctic Warfare to SAS to GIGN. There is not story behind Counter-Strike because Counter-Strike is purely online based and your objective is to work together as a team to complete the task. This game is very interesting to play and has high replay value because there is so many different things you can do now in this game. If you want to practice your snipping there are a lot of maps designed for you to practice long range sniping. If you wanted to practice pistols you can practice pistols. If you wanted to practice SURFING, and i mean surfing on waves and etc, you can. Counter-Strike has evolved into something different than it was 5 years ago. There are now hundreds of maps that you can download and play with other people. While the classic Counter-Strike where you defuse the bomb and etc is still the biggest thing, counter-strike will continue to evolve. (This entry has been edited1 time. The story mode was unique and fun at the same time. They got a lot of different levels and there were a variety of obstacles to overcome. The one level that i thought was very interesting was the level with a million Yoshi's. it was like a never ending wave of Yoshi's that spawned and you just had to keep killing them. Luckily i was lucky enough to get one of those super strong singing hammers and killed a lot of them. What I thought about this level though was that it was something different. It was difficult but at the same time it was fun to play. There are about 9 or 10 different levels in the game. Each level has their own unique touch to it. For instance in the Starfox Sector Z level, there would be random fighter jets that would come down and bomb the characters and if you weren't lucky you'd get hit and die. On the Pokemon level in Saffron city, random Pokemon would come out and attack you. For instance a Chancy would come out and plop out her eggs that were sometimes filled with items. The levels in this game definitely were very cool. As it gave a whole new feel to this type of game. I experience a lot of flow while playing this game, because when you start playing you get really into it and when you start building up your pecentage you start getting really scared. I remember one time when i was at around 250% on my last stock and I was battling the Iron Mario. I was really focused on beating him that i ended up being late for class. Once you start playing you get really addicted because anything can happen at anytime. Design: I thought the game Super Smash Brothers was really well made. It incorporated everything every kid would like. Cute characters, lots of weapons, fighting, and awesome sound effects. There were a lot of levels and a lot of characters to choose from. Also it was different from just any other regular fighting game. In most fighting games you rarely get to have a 4 way free for all battle. What makes this game unique is that you can setup whatever you want with 4 people. Whether you want it to be a 2v2 or a 3v1 or a 1v1v1v1 its up to you. It gives the players the chance to do whatever they want, heck you could even play with 3 computers if you wanted too. I wouldn't change anything about SSB, the game is made perfectly and it is well balanced. A lot of games have characters that are slightly more powerful or cheap. This game each character is very well-balanced and there isn't one character that is rigged. This game also follows the characters background too. For instance Donkey Kong has all the moves has in DK, such as his ground slam and Whirlwind punch thing. The game feels like they basically pulled out the main characters in all those classics and put them into an arena to fight to the death. This game has a lot of replay value even after you beat the game or get sick of it. You can always pick this game up with your friends and play because it is interesting to play. It keeps the players addicted because each time you play its different. You can toggle the items on and off, change how many lives each person plays, or even have a free for all death match for 20 minutes. Like I said before SSB is really unique and creative game. You can play this game for days on end and it will never get boring. Although the graphics may not be the best for this game they are still very good and definitely playable. If the graphics are a real problem you could always wait a couple months, buy a Wii, and get Super Smash Brawl.Fri, 25 Jan 2008 05:53:12 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2085&iddiary=4025Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Fri, 25 Jan 2008 05:32:22https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2085Game Log Entry #2 Summary: Super Smash Brothers is one of a kind fighting game that is different than most. You sort of have a life bar but you don't instead it is just percentages and the higher your percentage, the higher your chance of dying. There a 2 main distinct modes which are single player and multi player. In single player you face off against various enemies in which you try to defeat them before they defeat you. Items drop down from the sky and are usable by both players. Eventually with enough play time you can master all the characters and defeat the final boss. Gameplay: The first time I ever played Super Smash Brothers I thought it was the best game in the world. It had everything every kid every liked. There were guns and swords and cool characters to choose from. Also it was easy to play because there were only 5 main moves and buttons. This was enjoyable because it was easy and simple to play, but mastering the game would be hard. The characters in this game were very unique. They were all characters we had seen in other games. They had Starfox from Starfox, the Mario brothers, and many other heroes that included Samus, Captain Falcon, Link, and Kirby. They each had their own special unique abilities that fit them. For example Samus had his canon, Mario had his fireballs, and Kirby had his sword smash. This game is very fun to play and watch because at times it can get very funny. In this game anything can happen. Random objects and obstacles in the game will pop out and distract or kill you or even help you. You might die to a rogue Starfox airplane or you might get flamethrowered to death by a Charizard. It is all random and people will get a good laugh out of it, i am sure i did.Fri, 25 Jan 2008 05:32:22 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2085&iddiary=4024World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (PC) - Sun, 13 Jan 2008 18:29:36https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1666GAMEPLAY In the World of Warcraft you get to choose what type of server you play on. Whether you want to play on a Player Vs Player Server or a Role-playing server, you get to choose what you want. Playing on a PvP server allows you to kill players of the opposite faction anywhere. You can kill them when your questing or even just walking around in town. That is one of the biggest reasons why WoW:TBC is so good, because you have so much freedom to do whatever you want. With the now new implemented team arena battles you can form your own team of 2v2, 3v3, or even 5v5 and battle against other teams. My thoughts about the game continued to stay even during this part of the game. In arena battles team makeup applies even more than before. Since you are fighting actual players instead of just computer intelligence, you have to be able to react quick and be on your feet at all times. You need to have good knowledge of the game and know when to use your moves for the biggest advantage. For example when you are about to kill someone you need to make sure that he is not getting any incoming heals. You need to be able to CC or Crowd Control the other player. Many classes can CC, but when your under so much pressure to not mess up. Executing these moves is a lot harder than you think. The team arena's implemented by WoW:TBC is definitely a major turning point for MMORPGS and games in general. DESIGN I've been playing World Of Warcraft for a while now and this is by far one of the best games I've ever played in my life. The game is always changing and evolving. The content of the game is constantly being remade into new things and more and more raid encounters are now possible. Since this game is Pay to Play, meaning you have to pay to play it. It is constantly growing and there are very few bugs/glitches. This game keeps the player interested because it constantly urges the player to achieve level 70. When you are playing TBC, you have to interact with people. The nature of the game is to interact with other people. When you party with people you are given the chance to enable a Voice communication function in the game. This allows you to verbally communicate without having to type. Also, communication is key to being successful in raids and arenas. You need to be able to discuss strategy's and anything that might come up during play. There are many different types of level and places to see in The World Of Warcraft. There are two different types of places to explore in the World of Warcraft. First off, there is Outlands which is part of the TBC and then there is Azeroth. Within those two continents are numerous amounts of cities and towns to explore. As well as capitals and other landmarks that are being guarded by dragons or bosses. World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is the King of MMORPGS by far. It utilizes so many differnt aspects into one game and it is flawless.Sun, 13 Jan 2008 18:29:36 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1666&iddiary=3405World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (PC) - Sun, 13 Jan 2008 17:12:24https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1666SUMMARY World Of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is the expansion of the original World Of Warcraft. TBC (The Burning Crusade) is a MMORPG where you choose your faction (Alliance or Horde), Class (Rogue,Hunter,Warrior,Warlock,Shaman,Druid,Mage,Priest, and Paladin), and Race (Dwarves, Gnomes, Humans, Night Elves, Draenei, Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Undead and Blood Elves). After you design your character to exactly the way you want it you enter the World Of Warcraft. There, you can level your character by doing quest, doing daily battlegrounds, and killing monsters and NPC's. The max level cap is level 70 in TBC and thats when you really experience the true value of the game, the end game content. GAMEPLAY World of Warcraft: TBC is a very friendly and social game. The story behind the game is also pretty accurate and follows the lore of the world of warcraft. Being level 70, my friends and I have been able to experience a lot of the end game content. The game was interesting to play because you can do virtually do anything in this game. You can encounter raids and dragons with up to 40 people as well as raid with just five of your friends in an instance. When playing the game you experience a lot of flow, that is because you can continue to progress with your guild. You can start raiding 5-man instances and slowly build your way to 40-man instances. These instance and raid encounters are not something to take lightly. When you devote yourself to one of these raids, you are going to dedicate at least a minimum of 2 hours to this game. I, myself, have spent 7 hours raiding Black Temple ( The most difficult and most time consuming raid in TBC). Also while playing TBC, you can interact with various amounts of other people. You can trade, duel, and even dance with them. This game is very well designed and balance. It is one of the only MMORPGS that not one class is over powered. When you go raids or instances you need a certain party makeup or else you won't even stand a chance at surviving. For example, in a regular 5-man instance, the default setup that you need is: A Tank, 3 DPS, and a Healer. Without this general setup you won't be able to get through an instance. When playing TBC, I was very eager to experience every bit of the game as well learn new things. When playing TBC, your emotions can change from very happy to all of a sudden being very frustrated. There are times when i played where we just could not finish the instance or raid encounter. We would spend a lot of gold (the currency in TBC)buying potions, flask, and weapon repairs. But then there are times when you down a boss for the first time with your guild and your so pumped and excited that your guild worked well together. Overall the World Of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is a very well designed game. The game is designed around team play and is a social game that provides a challenge for the player.
