The story is getting more diverse and the maps and enemies are getting even more fun to play. The weapons are even more diverse than its predecessors. The wacky humor is still going strong and the whole feeling is that of a great game. I really liked using the whip weapon. Although I wished that it would have always been deployed so that while walking around you had a flowing whip in your hand. That aside the gameplay is great. There are big rooms with many enemies at once, and they are all very diverse. Some enemies are easier to kill with electricity while others are better with fire, while others are better to just use your big ol wrench to whack them away. The game is fun, and takes some thinking at the same time. Design: The level design on this game is phenomenal. The background is always moving, the surroundings are super detailed and the layout of everything is great. In the game you feel like you are very free to do what you want, while you are actually confined. The way that there is a building here or a huge boulder there is very subtle yet defines the way the game plays out. As far as gameplay design goes, it is a lot like its Playstation 2 brethren but I liked the super smooth and accurate camera of this one much better. The implementation of the Six-Axis controller while Ratchet is free falling is very cool. It is nice to see a game actually use the controls in a challenge oriented situation, instead of the Wii's very annoying, "shake to run, move up and down to swim" and so on controls. There is not much in the way of innovation but the game is great the way it is. I really enjoyed playing this game and am very glad to call myself a Ratchet and Clank fan.Thu, 06 Mar 2008 03:07:51 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3175&iddiary=5968Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (PS3) - Thu, 06 Mar 2008 02:47:15https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3175Summary: I am writing this gamelog on Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction which is an amazing adventure game for the Playstation 3. The game is the latest installment in the series. The two main characters in the game are Ratchet and Clank! Who would have guessed? Ratchet is a lombax, the last known one alive. He is accompanied by his best friend and co-start Clank, who is a small robot. Clank rides on the back of Ratchet and is a very key part to the game. By guiding Ratchet and clank through a bunch of amazingly detailed levels you are on a mission to solve the puzzle of the Lombax, and get rid of a pesky little bad dude. Gameplay: Right from the start the game play is excellent. The movement is really straightforward and simple. The graphics are amazing. The game really utilizes the Playstation 3's power. The background which has nothing to do with gameplay is always very active and moving. The colors are beautiful and the detail is very precise. You get right into the action. Within minutes of starting the game you are already let loose to go blast some enemies. The game really grabs your attention and sucks you in. The story is very dynamic and emerges more and more as the game progresses. One thing that is a key factor in the game is the amount of weapons that you can use, and the way that you can upgrade all of them immensely. I found myself very entertained and happy to be playing the game. Another thing that is really nice is the way the game sets a cheerful and humorous mood. The bright colors and constant jokes are hilarious. When wandering around a level look around, or listen closely. The things that people say are super funny. (This entry has been edited1 time. I feel that the gameplay gets dull after awhile if you are playing alone. There is no story involved to keep you going and going until you finish. I feel that to have a long and lasting game session you need to have friends all playing and going against each other. Competition is what really drive games. To have a game where you are competing not only on gaming ability but also in a physical way. This elevates the competitiveness side of things immensely. To have two people boxing against each other is actually very fun. They are both standing next to each while controller their character in the game and they are punching and moving around the play area. Wii Sports really is something new when it comes to interactive game play. With friends or at a party I think this is one of the best games that you could put on to play. Really fun. DESIGN The design of Wii Sports is interesting. It is a very minimal game other than the the movement and interactive control system. The graphics are just enough to get by. The game itself would never hold up if it were not for the controls. The interesting things is that it works. The controls are enough to keep people playing and having fun with this game. The creators were able to get away with other things being minimal while having the control system be brand new and unique. It also helped that everyone who has a Wii should have got this game with it. Ti served as a great introduction to the control scheme and the system itself. One thing that I would like to point out however is that as interesting and unique the movement and controller system is, it is far from perfect. To make the bat swing it is really just move the controller in the right direction at the right speed. It is like triggering a set control "button". I feel that the controls are actually very limiting. It would be truly amazing if while you are waiting for the pitch, you move the controller a little, or you shift your weight to the left and the character on the screen displays your movements. When you swing it is precisely because your controller swung.Thu, 21 Feb 2008 04:06:29 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2892&iddiary=5475Wii Sports (Wii) - Thu, 21 Feb 2008 03:43:02https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2892SUMMARY I am writing my game long on Wii Sports. In Wii sports you can play Tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing. To play you use the unique controllers and actually do the movements in real life that you would like to see your character do. Wii Sports is packaged with every Wii Console. It is an introduction to the control interface and an introduction to the game console itself. GAMEPLAY The first time ever playing the Wii, I played Wii Sports. It is a very unique experience for gamers. Here you are used to using a controller with buttons and joysticks and then you are given a controller that responds to movement. So you leave the realm of mastery behind and enter into a whole new experience. In the beginning my timing was way off. For playing tennis, I would watch as the ball went past me as I would start to swing or I would swing way too early. This was just a practice thing. The learning curve is pretty small and not after too long I felt like a pro. I really enjoyed boxing. I felt more involved and was very into the game. The game play is fun because the player is actually involved in a physical way. You are standing up, and are focusing on the screen. You move your whole body around and kind of forget that you look like a complete idiot to anyone else. It is very different than other games, you feel as if you are the character in the game. What makes Wii Sports even more fun is the social aspect of it. It is a great social "party" game. It is a game that you can boot up and play with people who never have played it before. The experienced are not amazingly better than the newbies. Try doing that with Call of Duty 4! It is a great introduction to the Wii's controller scheme and system. It shows off what can be done while not being too advanced or complex. It is a very good game to be attached to each console. (This entry has been edited1 time. It was last edited on Thu, 21 Feb 2008 03:46:38.)Thu, 21 Feb 2008 03:43:02 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2892&iddiary=5469Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 06:34:58https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2396GAMEPLAY For my second session of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare I decided to check out the Multiplayer section of the game. From the beginning I was pretty impressed. The menus were straight to the point. It was easy to join a game and before I knew it, I was being killed by very experienced players. Before too long I became very obsessed with multiplayer. There are so many different types of game matches to choose from, (As you rank up, more match styles are unlocked). The weapon choices amazed me with how much there was and how you can change your soldiers kit to reflect your style of play. In between matches I was updating my kit and checking to see if I had unlocked that new gun or not. By scoring more and more points you rank up. When ranking up you unlock more weapons and options. While playing multiplayer I was even more immersed then I was with the singleplayer. People are all talking, the chat is integrated very nicely, and the style of gameplay can be either quick or slow. The most intense match type for me is "Cage Match" This is where it is one on one. I believe that this really shows off what the game can really be like and how realistic it is. It is one on one, large map and you do not know where the enemy is in the beginning. You sneak around the map looking for your enemy. What makes it so intense is that it is really quiet and if you are close, you can hear your enemy move, likewise with him. Only a few well placed shots will kill each person so it is crucial to find and kill him before he finds you. This is the ultimate place to humiliate someone, also to be humiliated. DESIGN Call of Duty 4 is an amazing game. The level of detail is phenomenal and the way that everything is so smooth is what makes the environment the best I have ever played on. The gameplay style in itself in this environment makes for some long nights in front of the TV. For multiplayer the reward structure is what holds everyone there. You rank up fast enough and unlock just enough so that you want to get the next unlock, be it a gun, perk, or camouflage. Even after 15 hours online you still have quite a ways to go to unlock everything. The replay value is very high. There are many FPS's out there though none as quite as good as this one. I feel this is because of the way the game is balanced. Good Graphics, Good gameplay, Good Multiplayer. The developers did not leave anything out. They made sure that every aspect of the game was as perfect as it could be. People who like quick action can join a free for all, people who like teamwork can join a small team based deathmatch or search and destroy. I think my biggest gripe with the game is that the online chat is abused by some people and makes you must mute the TV. I guess the Developers overestimated the mentality of gamers. To sum this up. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an amazing game that deserves as much recognition as it can get. If your a FPS fan , Try this game!!Fri, 08 Feb 2008 06:34:58 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2396&iddiary=4558Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 06:11:36https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2396SUMMARY I am writing this gamelog for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the Playstation 3. This is the latest in its series. It is a First Person Shooter, which takes place in present times. This game has both Single player Campaign and Multiplayer gameplay modes. In the Campaign you play as American Sergeant Paul Jackson and British Sergeant "Soap" Mactavish. The story line is very dynamic and in depth. GAMEPLAY This game is amazing. It is the traditional FPS in which you see the gun and can aim and fire, while moving around the map. What makes this game amazing is that it immerses you within the world like I have never experienced before. While playing the game you are so focused on what you are doing that outside distraction almost goes away. The single player campaign is very intriguing and interesting. It keeps you wanting to play more and more. Right from the beginning where they drop you on this sinking ship in the middle of the ocean with people to kill the action level is insane. You can switch on the Night Vision goggles and the game view changes along with the way you approach different obstacles. In night vision light is really bright, so you have to stick to the shadows to make it work right. While playing this game I was constantly amazed at the graphics and level of detail, along with how intense the game is. When you reach a checkpoint or when you die, I would sit back for a second and re-collect myself before diving back in the fighting. Call of Duty 4 is definitely in my opinion the best FPS for the playstation, and is up there for my favorite of all time.Fri, 08 Feb 2008 06:11:36 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2396&iddiary=4557Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 25 Jan 2008 03:02:08https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2076After playing Super Mario Brothers 3 for the NES for a longer time, my statement stands, it is a great CLASSIC. GAMEPLAY After playing the game for an extended period of time I still find it fun and attractive. The interesting thing about it is that for me it is a love and hate relationship. You play for 30min and then you die and have to redo what you just spent the last 15 min on. You say "screw this!" and walk away, then 5 min later you walk back and say "no, I am going to beat this". The gameplay flows and the levels are different enough that it is not repetitive. Also you have that amazing soundtrack of funny beeps and noises to motivate you while you play. You find your self adding to this music with your own interesting sounds before too long. DESIGN The design of this game was amazing for its time, and to still be playing it so long in the future it must have to be amazing. What I think makes it such a good game is that it is simple to play but amazingly difficult to master. You can always get better at it. There are also different ways of solving each obstacle. You can take your time or try and run right through everything. The tone of the game is uplifting. A perfect example of this is that on one of the world maps the background pixels that form palm trees dance to the music. This game is fun while being attractive because it get hard. I found myself loosing interest at some times. You get stuck on a level and after trying so many times, you still lose. One negative thought that I have on this game is that you can work so hard on progressing in the game and then hit a hard spot and have to do so much over again. Then to get back to the spot and die again, this is where you lose some of your audience. After playing this game, I am a little inspired to create my own game. This game has simple graphics and simple movement yet is fun. This shows me that to create a good game you do not need to have amazing graphics. All in all, Super Mario Brothers 3 is a great game and will definitely be remembered as one of the first CLASSICS.Fri, 25 Jan 2008 03:02:08 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2076&iddiary=4005Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 25 Jan 2008 02:42:50https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2076SUMMARY I am writing this GameLog for Super Mario Brothers 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Super Mario Brothers 3 is a platformer game. You move the avatar across a 2D environment from left to right overcoming obstacles as you go. You control Mario as he moves left, right and jumps. When he lands on top of a bad guy the enemy is eliminated. The object of the game is to reach the other side of the level without loosing your limited number of lives. GAMEPLAY I was very happy to get Super Mario Brothers 3 working, and I say working because it is very, very old technology. I have to admit that since I have an HDTV I have not seen static and the famous vertical scrolling screen in a long time. When I first got to the menu my find was in a constant flashback. The second the music hits your ears you are absorbed in the days of old where all you did was play this game. I then decide to see why I played this game so much. I start a new game and get to it. I get about 10 steps and one of those little monsters kill me. "Wow! this is alot harder than I remember" After a few more tires the controls come back to me and I am off in this mesmerizing world again. You play as Mario trying to get to the Princess. The story is simple yet complex. There are not pages of dialog, instead it is pretty much one liners and get playing. The cool thing about this game is that you pick it up and play. It is fun and sucks you into it. It is a great social interaction with others too because if you suck like me, your lives are not too long and you just trade off the controller, while the others heckle you as you die. Years after release, Super Mario Brothers 3 is still an amazing game, a true CLASSIC!Fri, 25 Jan 2008 02:42:50 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2076&iddiary=3999Assassins Creed (PS3) - Mon, 14 Jan 2008 02:35:21https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1778GAMEPLAY After playing Assassins Creed for awhile longer I got a better feel for the game. The controls are basic but go deep enough that there is a slight learning curve. The free roam maps are very fun. You are able to jump around and do amazing things. You are able to jump from huge heights and land in hay carts unharmed. You are able to climb impossible heights. Jump from building to building and kick peoples butts. I would say that is the most fun part of this game. Another amazing aspect is the graphics. They are just so excellent that you cant help but look around at your surroundings. They are very detailed, and there is so much movement. The story is also getting interesting. You forget that you are in the future remembering the past, you just fall in line as an master assassin who was striped of all his rank and is now trying at redemption. While playing you know that there is going to be a long detailed story ahead of you. DESIGN The overall design of this game is pretty impressive. The hype going into it was correct this really is a great fun game. With impressive graphics and the amazing free roam interaction put into a game with a captivating story I would say that you have a winner. That being said, this game is not for everyone. Some people love just being able to put a game in and play, this game is one that you need to be immersed in. You cant really multi task and play it. There can be no really loud outside interference. Also this is a one person game where you are really following a detailed story and cant give the controller to someone else without lossing some of the experience. Overall, I am still playing it and I imagine that I will do so for awhile. I like it, but think that it is not for everyone. Though I do wish that these graphics become the new norm. The game is a Role playing game. Before every playing the game, I knew quite a bit about it. There was major hype and very good reviews. Games of today look more like movies than something that you are able to interact with. The game grabs your attention the instant you put the CD in the drive. The opening scene is amazingly detailed and shows an "Assassin" breaking up a gathering and then running away from soldiers only to disappear within a group of scholars (who look the same). The game play is very interesting. It is unique but very intuitive. The graphics are some of the best I have ever seen, and the amount of objects within the world that you can interact with is impressive. GAMEPLAY For the few first levels the game play is structured and half of the time you are in conversation with someone. This is to set up the very dynamic story. The story is interesting in itself. You are someone in the future who is attached to a machine reading his genetic code to remember memories from his ancestors. It is kind of weird going from a really high tech world into the far past. This story is what keeps things going, or is at least why I am captivated. It seems weird but draws me to it. I am interested in finding out what happens. Plus, the graphics are amazing, and the character is pretty cool. (This entry has been edited2 times.
