Cyleen's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=624Harvest Moon 64 (N64) - Thu, 06 Mar 2008 02:46:48https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3070Game Play: I continued playing harvest moon for several more hours. The game play has been about the same. My farm is just becoming more developed. The game seems like it should be getting boring and I would not want to continue but for some reason I want to keep playing. I think the reason I enjoy the game is because I strive to have a very productive and awesome farm. One thing I really like in the game is the horse and dog race. I enjoy taking care of my dog and horse so that they will win the races. This game may sound really lame but it entertained me for hours and I look forward to playing more. Game Design: I liked some of the designs of the game. The graphics weren’t good but I don’t really care. I thought the cartoony graphics were cute. I usually like games with animeish cartoony graphics. I also really like the way the animals look. They are absolutely adorable. I thought the controls were good. The game word is incredibly small, and I did not like the fact I can’t ride the horse out of the farm. One thing I absolutely hated about the game was the sound and the music. The music is annoying to begin with and when it plays the same music non-stop for several hours it drives me crazy. Also I did not like the beeping sound it makes when a person is talking. When a person talks there is a dialog box at the bottom of the page and for every letter that appears on the screen it makes a beeping noise. So when a person talks there is a massive amount of beeping. Just after an hour or two of playing I decided to turn off the sound because it was so annoying. The goal of the game is to have a successful farm, successful family, and have as many friends as possible in four game years. Game Play: Harvest Moon is very different from most games I have played. This game has absolutely no violence or enemies of any kind. All the play really does in the game is talk to people, grow crops, and raise animals. This may seem boring but I found the game to be a lot of fun. I am really not sure what draws me to this game. It might be the fact that I can raise and take care of all my animals. I like how I can name all the animals after my friends. This adds a bit of a personal touch to the game. I also found it fun to give things to the characters in the game, making them my friend. In the game the player can only play as a boy and they have the option of marring five different girls. Even though I’m a girl, I found it fun to make friends with all of them then decide which one I want to marry. One thing I found slightly offensive was the fact that the player cannot get married till they have kitchen built, but I don’t really care; I find it kind of funny. Wed, 05 Mar 2008 23:22:03 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3070&iddiary=5749Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Thu, 21 Feb 2008 02:03:25https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2642Game Play: I continued playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for a few more hours. I still find this game very enjoyable and interesting to play. One thing I really liked was how each dungeon had a new weapon you receive while inside. The weapon would then be used to defeat certain enemies or hit certain objects. The new weapon is also very important in the final boss battle, making each boss and boss battle unique. This makes the game fun and interesting instead boring and repetitive when it comes to the type of enemies and the way they are defeated. I also like how the dungeons are puzzle like. Instead of just defeating enemies and running from the beginning to the end, Ocarina of time has puzzles that make the dungeons more of a challenge and exciting. I think the puzzles are not impossible but also not too easy, making them just perfect. I think Link is an awesome character but he still doesn’t have any distinct characteristics. His actions are completely controlled by the player and he never talks. He can only respond to questions and usually they can only be answered one way. That is one thing I do not like about this game. I wish Link had more of a personality. All the different races in the game are all fun and interesting. My favorite race is the Gorons. They are the rock people and I think they are adorable especially when the curl up into little balls. The point I got to in my game play is when like becomes an adult. I am excited because I just rescued the horse Epona which makes me happy because I love horses, so it’s fun to ride her around. I think the game is going to get more exciting from here, and I am looking forward to continuing. Game Design: Even though this game came out in the 90’s I still think the graphics are fairly decent. I really like the anime style of the characters. It makes them all really cute which gets my attention. I also like how colorful everything is in the game, whether it be the characters or the background. I like the puzzles in the game because they are challenging enough and not too hard. This keeps me interested because I feel like I have to think and work problems out but it’s not impossible to where I give up, so I feel very accomplished when I’m done. I like Ocarina of Time’s leveling system. I never really have to worry if I am capable of defeating an enemy or not. Defeating enemies is based on the player’s skill at playing the game more than anything else. After each boss battle Link receives another heart giving him more health and that is the main way the leveling system works. I also really like the game’s controls. I like how I can look around corners by pressing the R button or the L button. This makes it possible for me to look around corners for enemies so I don’t get attacked blindly. I also like the Z-targeting. This makes it so when I attack I don’t have to try to aim. I just hold down Z, and Link will automatically target the enemy so I only have to press the attack button without worrying if ‘m successfully attacking the enemy or not. Z-target is my favorite aspect of the controls.Thu, 21 Feb 2008 02:03:25 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2642&iddiary=5379Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Tue, 19 Feb 2008 19:30:17https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2642Summary: Ocarina of Time is an RPG game with puzzle like qualities. In the first half the main goal of the game is to collect the three jewels and keep them for Ganondorf. The goal in the second part of the game is to go to all the temple and collect all seven medallions in order to stop Ganondorf. Game Play: I found this game very fun and interesting to play. I really like the cartoon style of the characters; I thought that they were cute and they made me happy. One thing I liked about the story in the game was that it was given immediately unlike other games where it takes several hours, by which point I might have already lost interest. I also really like the fighting style in the game. The best part of the fighting is using the z-target. I am not very good at video games but the z-target made the game much easier for me to play. I like how Link uses his main sword but he also gets a new weapon in every dungeon which can be used normally or only on specific objects or enemies. The use of multiple weapons for different types of enemies makes the fighting in the game much more interesting, and it make it more challenging because I have to think about what to do and what to use. The main character is Link. I do not have much of an opinion on him. He never talks and only responds to the other characters how I want. The Kokiri children are really cute but slightly annoying. I did not care much for the Deku tree but I felt a little sad when he died. My lest favorite character so far is the owl. I think everything about him is annoying even though he is necessary to explain what to do at certain points in the game. I got to the point were I met princess Zelda and I think she is absolutely adorable. So far she is my favorit character. Tue, 19 Feb 2008 19:30:17 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2642&iddiary=5036Final Fantasy VII (PS) - Sat, 09 Feb 2008 00:02:31https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2493gameplay: I continued playing final fantasy 7 for a few hours. I still enjoyed the game even though i have not gotten to the main part of the story yet. sephiroth has not come into the story yet. but I'm excited for when he comes into the story. I think the game does a very good job at progressing the story. There is so much to the story of final fantasy 7 and the game ties everything together very well. Also the battling system is descant. It is just like every other final fantasy game. I get bored with it easily but that's not what I play for so I don't really mind. I still have not met any new characters, but I love the ones I have met so far. There was one part in the game I got to that I really liked a lot. It was the part where cloud had to dress a woman in order to sneak into a mansion. The whole situation and his conversation with aerith about it was very comical. It was my favorite part of the game so far. I am very excited to continue playing. Design: The graphics in this game are not very good, but that is because it came out in 1997. When I play I ignore the graphics because this final fantasy has the best story out of all final fantasy games. I play for the story not so much the over all design of the game. the design of the battling was very generic RPG battling. It grows old fast, but that is not enough to make me stop playing because the story and the characters is what makes the game so much fun and makes me want to continue. Also i hate the random battles. This can be very frustrating when I'm lost. I did not like the game controls for this game. I played it on a play station 2 and I found it slightly annoying. To run around the screen I have to hold down X so while i us the stick to move around. This can cramp my fingers if i get lost. The leveling of this game is exactly like the leveling in all final fantasy games. I keep going till the enemies are too hard to defeat; then I take some time aside from continuing the story to go level.Sat, 09 Feb 2008 00:02:31 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2493&iddiary=4737Final Fantasy VII (PS) - Fri, 08 Feb 2008 23:21:42https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2493Summary: Final Fantasy 7 is an RPG game. There are two main goals to the game. One goal is to try and stop the shinra electrical company from taking away from the planets life in order to get their power. An other goal is to try and stop sephiroth from destroying the planet. Gameplay: I played final fantasy 7 for a couple of hours and enjoyed it. I was pretty happy mainly because it is a final fantasy game which are my favorite video games to play. The beginning was kind of boring but thats is how most final fantasy games are. it takes a few hours to get into the main plot. even though the beginning is some what boring I'm still excited to keep going because I know soon the story will be developed and I can't wait to see what happens. I like the characters that have been introduced do far. So far I have met four out of the nine main characters. My favorite character is aeris. She is my favorite out of all the final fantasy characters. Probably because she has such a sweet and adorable personality. I also really like tifa because she has a very similar personality to me. Then I think cloud is the best lead character out of all final fantasy games. He is very awesome character with a sweet sword that is like a piece of a building.Fri, 08 Feb 2008 23:21:42 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2493&iddiary=4715Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Sat, 26 Jan 2008 00:52:31https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2201Game play: I continued to play Final Fantasy 12 for about another two hours. During this time not much happened except towards the end of my game play time. Most of the whole time I have been playing I have been playing as only one of the main characters because the others have not come in yet. This character is Vaan he is not my favorite character but I am sure he will be developed more later on. Another main character who has been introduced and has made a few appearances is Penelo. She makes me happy, and I think she is absolutely adorable. Near the end of my second two hours two more main characters were introduced, Balthier and Fran. Since they have just come into the story, I really do not know how i fell about them yet, but they look pretty cool. I am still have a lot of fun playing, and i am even more excited in continuing. I feel the story is really starting to take off now. Still nothing really exciting has happened, but I can tell it is going to get much better as the story continues so I am very excited about that. I am still enjoying the battle system much more then previous Final Fantasy battle systems. Design: I really like the game design a lot. The graphics of the game are amazing during the good graphic cut scenes and even the regular cut scenes are good. I also like the design of the battling system. It was in some ways very similar to previous Final Fantasy game and in some ways it was quite different. The leveling is very basic and only necessary to make later battles and boss battles easier. There is no set required level for anything which I think is nice. What i do is keep going till an enemy is to difficult to beat then I go and level my characters. One thing I really liked were the cut scenes. they are what makes the story. There are a lot of them and they are quite long. This does not bother me because I play Final Fantasy games for the stories and good characters. I do not play so much for the actual playing. Since there are so many cut scenes quite frequently, some people might not like it if they only play for the game play and not for the story with the frequent cut scenes. To me the cut scenes are the best part of any Final Fantasy game and i love watching them especially the good graphic ones. Sat, 26 Jan 2008 00:52:31 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2201&iddiary=4239Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Fri, 25 Jan 2008 23:42:42https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2201Summery: Final Fantasy 12 is an RPG game in which you have six main characters you can play as. The main story line to the game is that the kingdom of Dalmasca has been overtaken by the Arcadian Empire and now the main six characters (Ashe, Vaan, Basch, Balthier, Fran, and Penelo) are trying to figure out why and find a way to save Dalmasca. Game play: The opening to Final Fantasy 12 is the most epic opening to any Final Fantasy game I have ever played. The graphics are so amazing the people almost look real. I feel that the opening covers a wide rang of emotions, starting happy then ending sad. The style of battling was really fun and i was so excited to try a new type of battle system as opposed to the battling system in the other Final Fantasy games. In 12 the monsters you fight are right there on the screen instead of you running around and braking out into a random battle. in battle you can pick what you want the character to do from the menu or you can set the gambits so they automatically do what you want them to do. I like this style of battling much more then the style in previous Final Fantasy games. From the very beginning I was very excited to play because I love Final Fantasy games and the opening was in my opinion the best opening to any Final Fantasy game. I played for about two hours but nothing interesting happened except the opening. What keeps me interested in the game is that I know after a while the story will get going, the plot will thicken, and the main characters will develop. This is how all Final Fantasy games are. This game so far has made me extremely happy. I can not wait to continue and meet the other characters and get into the plot. Fri, 25 Jan 2008 23:42:42 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2201&iddiary=4196World of Warcraft (PC) - Tue, 15 Jan 2008 02:40:01https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1896Game Play: I the next time I played I decided to keep going till I hit level ten. During this time I continued to explore Teldrassil, which is the beginning night elf lands. I eventually to go to the night elf city Darnassus. The reason why I wanted to reach level ten was so I could tame a beast as my pet. This made me extremely happy because I got my pet Owl. Another thing that made me exited was getting to meet Tyrande Wisperwind who is the leader of the night elves. I thought that she was a really cool character in Warcraft III. Now that I'm level ten and I have my pet, I am ready to start exploring the rest of Azeroth and eventually the Out-lands. I find it really fun and exciting that some of the quests I will eventually get to do and places I will eventually get to go to tie into the story of Warcraft III. During my playing time I interact a lot with other people. I really like talking to my friends who play and since they are a higher level they come help me complete quests. Also I talk and complete quests with other people who I do not know. It is normally beneficial for someone who is also try to complete the same quest as me to join a group with me. This makes fighting enemies easier especially when there is a lot of them. some of the time the people were really annoying and sometimes they were pretty cool. Design: I thought that the overall game design was pretty good. The graphics were fairly decent and the creators did a good job at making the world seem very three dimensional. The leveling system was pretty good i thought. At first I was leveling really fast then after level five my leveling slowed down. As I become higher and higher I will level slower and slower. With each level my character is able to obtain higher quests and equip higher armor and weapons. The challenges in the game is completing the quests. Sometimes the thing or the enemy I'm looking for are hard to find. Sometimes the thing I'm trying to kill is to difficult for me so i keep dying which is very frustrating. One thing I would change would be make sure every quest I'm trying to complete gives an exact description of where to go to complete the quest. The game has a lot of social interaction weather it be getting help from people on quests and talking to them or fighting people who are of the other group. what makes the game fun for me is trying to level up my character and getting her the best armor and weapons in order to make her cool looking. Also what makes it fun is the connection I have with my character and the way she seems almost real and important. Tue, 15 Jan 2008 02:40:01 CDThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1896&iddiary=3765World of Warcraft (PC) - Tue, 15 Jan 2008 01:45:02https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1896Summary: World of Warcraft is an online game based of the PC games of Warcraft. It is supposed to take place five years after the Warcraft III. In World of Warcraft you can make your own character who you play as, and you can interact with other people's characters. There are ten races to choose from, five of which are alliance and the other five are Horde. There are also five to six classes for each race to choose from, such as a hunter, warrior and many more. There are multiple objectives to the game. The main points to the game is to do quests, PVP (player versus player) and to level till you hit the max; the max level is 70 right now. Game play: The game play was fairly decent. I started off by creating my character; she was a night elf hunter. Basically as soon as I started I was doing quests. That was mostly what I did for the hour I played. Most quests involve killing something, collecting something, or talking or bringing something to someone. I liked the character in the game because it was what I created and I felt very connected to her. Almost as though I was really her. I even came up with my characters own back story linking her to Warcraft III. It made her feel more real, and it made the game more fun. I thought it was interesting because I enjoyed trying to level my character, and I was always excited to get new armor and new weapons. Also I enjoyed being able to talk to my friends, who also played the game, online. What I did not like was not being able to figure out where to go in order to finish a quest. Sometimes the quests never really said where to to fined what object I was looking for or where to find what I need to kill. I found this frustrating and would give me head aches trying to figure it out. Also it made me sad to kill animals in the game especially neutral ones because they are harmless. I was mostly upset when i had to kill owls for a quest because i love owls; they are one of my favorite animals. When a hunter reaches level ten they can tame a beast as their pet to help them battle. I hope to tame an owl. (This entry has been edited1 time.
