    alyang's Bust-A-Move (N64)

    [February 9, 2007 06:04:43 AM]
Instead of playing Normal mode, which is what I play the most often, I decided to play the Variety mode just because I haven't plaed that one in a while. The different types of bubbles make it more a little more interesting than the normal mode. For example, the sparkly bubble that once you shoot it at a certain colored bubble, all of the bubbles of that same color disappear. This could be either really helpful in clearing up most of your bubbles, but it actually sometimes doesn't do much if you don't know which color you need to get rid of.

This game does require some strategy. There are chains and combos that are really help you to win the game. There are some rainbow colored bubbles that become whatever color bubble it touches they pop. If 3 or more of the rainbow bubbles turn the same color, then they automatically are cleared. There is one charcter that only attacks with the rainbow colored bubbles, so if she attacks you a lot, then you could actually get rid of all of the rainbow bubbles easily.

Each of the characters have different combinations of bubble attacks. Some of them have just plain colored bubbles, and some have the sparkly or rianbow ones. There are also block looking things that you can't get rid of unless you do a chain where you get rid of all of the bubbles holding the blocks up. If you clear bubbles up that are holding others underneath, then the ones underneath will drop as well. This is one of the best ways to attack the other person because the more bubbles you get rid of, the more bubbles will pile up on the other person's side.

Although I have the original version of this game for Playstation, I decided to get the one for N64 because you are able to play different characters with this version. I think that overall, this game is really cute. The cute litte characters and colorful bubbles is something that makes this game for me, more fun. In the Playstation version of this game, you are only allowed to use the little dinosaur, but in this version there are a lot more characters, which aren't as cute, but having more variety is why I like N64 version better than the Playstation one.

This game is really simple to learn. All you have to do is shoot the bubbles to their corresponding colors and if you align 3 of them in a row, they pop, and that's how you attack your opponent. The goal is to clear your bubbles so that more bubbles appear on your opponent's side.

There are also puzzle modes where you just have to figure out how to clear all of your bubbles in order to go onto the next puzzle. Some of these were really easy and could be cleared within a few seconds. I found that a few of them were difficult, but I eventually passed them after a couple of tries. Overall so far, this game is pretty fun but not very challenging.
