jwhite16's Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (PC)

    [September 23, 2012 03:30:14 PM]
In Star Craft II Wings of Liberty, Blizzard did a phenomenal job on working on this amazing real time strategy. This game took approximately ten years to make since its prequel Star Craft Brood War in 1999, and the developer is planning on adding two expansion packs which are Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. The objective of the game is to build a huge army and attack the other player with this army in order to win. The player has to collect resources which include mining minerals and harvesting vespene gas in order to build this army. Not only did Blizzard improve the graphics and gameplay, they made it so that you can join community events on Battle.net and made new types of game modes such as challenge, team vs. team, campaign, capture the flag, and more. In the game, you have the option to choose to play as the Terran, Zerg, and Protoss. For each team, Blizzard added new characters as well as keeping some of the old characters. In the campaign mode, the player plays as the Terran and are given new units and buildings that they can produce the further they go into the story. The campaign allows players to choose upgrades and modifications which helps the gameplay and allows players to make their team stronger. They can also find research materials which enable them to use other modifications to make bunkers hold six people instead of four, and other attributes like that. Blizzard also did an amazing job fixing up the bugs that were hindering the game and they constantly are adding more patches to improve game performance, speed, and play. Star Craft II also has an editor mode which allows a player to customize their own level. This allows the player to be the game designer. The online multiplayer is definitely much better than the original and it allows players to test their competitiveness against people across the world. I would recommend this game to everyone, even if they didn’t play the original because it has a good story, makes you think of strategies and tactics to use to defeat the other player, and overall it is a fun, exciting game to play.
