    McKennaCaldwell's Here They Lie (PS4)

    [March 30, 2018 12:04:49 AM]
I have no idea what is going on in this game. But there is a lot of immoral stuff happening. At one point, there is a theater full of people watching other people fall from the ceiling, being hanged. As a player you can run up and save them, but it doesn't really matter what you do, because more people will just continue to fall no matter how many you save. That certainly didn't make me feel good! I wanted to help them, especially because I thought there might be a chance for them to help me later on, but probably not. It was also very gruesome. The sounds and seeing it from all around with the VR really makes it have more of an impact. The game is only getting more interesting as I continue.

Now the morals of the game are coming forward, however Im not even quite sure what they are yet. The NPCs of the world attack on another, they were animal heads and don't use words. They beat each other up seemingly for no reason at all. The game is trying to tell me something, I think I just don't yet have enough information. Making the game playable in VR definitely adds some moral dilemma. VR makes the game feel more real, more frightening, and more personal. Players feel like the main character because their perspective is more literally the player's perspective. It will undoubtedly come into play as the game's story develops further. I can't wait for everything to be more clear!

I just started Here They Lie, so far Im terrified. I haven't progressed to far, so not much about the story or any ethical issues have come up, but I can feel them coming. I get the sense that the main character has done something bad and can't remember. There also seems to be some kind of cult running around. I already have many questions, and so far the game has hooked me. If I am correct, and the main character has done something bad, I like the choice to have the player figure it out and learn of it over time. I think it will add to the moral discussion.
