marinbetsy's GameLog for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PC)

    Sunday 5 October, 2008

I'm done finally playing the game of the 30-minute session. In the game, I was able to have a gang war with enemies and I was able to purchase guns and blasts bombs away and I was even able to gamble. I feel like this game is outrageous. If I feel like this game is out of control. I wouldn't want my little brother/sister to play this game or even my younger cousins and nieces and nephews. I wouldn't want them to precieve the world to be this way or even become rebellous and disobedient because of the effects it had on them due to playing the game.

The game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is not suitable for teenagers and either children. The game has no moral codes and doesn't enforce anything good except to depict the world as wicked and cause humans to act like animals without a cause. I feel like the the game could make humans act like animals because animals do what they want and act however because they have no one or anything to anwer to, they live however they can through whatever means. It sucks, I've always loved playing video games to improve myself from a world that I felt so disattached. I loved playing family games like Looney Tunes, Sonic, Mario Brothers etc. I've never like games with violence it seemed so mainstream and overrated for me because I felt that's what boys wanted to ideally itain "The Badass Villian" that got away with murder, was corrupted and had power and respect that no one could take from them.

The game doesn't meet any of the ethical theories that we have discuss or learned in class, instead it violates all of the ethical theories. The games doesn't have a cause except for the fact that the character CJ loves his family and would do anything for them and the love that he has for them has caused him to do anything to survive daily in a urban gangster lifestyle. You could say, that CJ has standard human nature family codes to love and honor your family because they are your blood and love you through thick and thin. However, there is more wrong choices that CJ makes then to try to survive whether it be through stealing, gambling or going on missions for mobsters to try to make money. The only thing that I see teenagers and children getting from this game is trying to ideally gain power and respect and cause them to rebel.

It's outrageous and surely unethical and not suitable for minors!

In terms of letting kids play this game, I think that most people agree that kids should NOT play it. This is an "M" rated game (suitable for people over 17).

Your comments are very general when it comes to talking about ethics, however i think your point on the "animalisitic" nature of the characters who only live through their libido, and greed. This obviously can send mixed messages to younger viewers even though they should not be playing GTA but alas children always seem to get their hands on M rated games.
