Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game, like Magic: The Gathering, and it is designed for serious gamers. The basic rules of the game are each player takes turn playing cards (placing them on the board), activating events, which are caused by spell, trap, and effect monster cards, and battling monster cards. The game ends when a player loses all of his HP, which is subtracted when an attacking monster kills another monster in attack position. The amount of points subtracted from the player's HP is found by subtracting the strong card's value from the weaker card's value.

While I do not own a deck, majority of my friends do. For the first game, I borrowed an XYZ machine deck. The deck is centered a few magic cards that help you summon XYZ machine cards, which enhance the ability of other XYZ machine cards. The game only lasted 15 minutes. During that time, I felt no excitement, enjoyment, or really any emotion other than curiosity over what is in my
opponents hands. I won without any effort in my part.

After the game, I asked my friends how they find any enjoyment out of the game. The reply was that the point of the game was spending countless hours and untold amount of money for the perfect deck. I fail to see the point of playing a game, where the only conceivable point is to spend a massive amount of time and money finding and buying pieces of cardboard.

While I still find the game to be very well written with very good graphics and visuals, I will talk about its level layout and controls.

The level layout begs for the player to get lost because it does not give any hint on where the objective lies and does not correct the player if he gets turned around. For that reason, a player can waste hours wondering back and forth trying to figure out which way to go.

Along with the level layout, the controls are not clearly discussed in game. For example, the only way to know how to crouch is looking up the key selection option. In addition to not having the controls explicitly stated, many of the controls do not work well together. For example, walk forward is w but crouch is ctrl.

However, the controls and level layout are a small price to pay for the outstanding story.

    Feb 4th, 2012 at 16:34:54     -    Half-Life 2 (PC)

I started playing Half-Life 2 three days ago. I have been extremely impressed by it because the game flow is quick and intense, and the story is unique and captivating. Before I get into talking about the game and its story in detail, understand that I have not played Half Life 1.

At the start of the game, the player gets immersed into a world past the brink of destruction, meaning that the player can obviously see that the world is not as it should. The first scene of the game is an old man's head appearing in the screen telling you strange things in an even more absurd way of speaking. As you continue, the story gets only weirder and darker, which pulled me into it even deeper.

Since I am a role-player and love role-playing video games, story is always the make or kill feature of games for me. This story is amazing and does more to captivate the player than anything else in the game.

The gameplay is tremendous because it is extremely realistic. You start out the game utterly defenseless, but most evade capture from a much superior force. Shortly into the game, you receive your first weapon - a crowbar. With this weapon, you can defend yourself and quickly kill a soldier to receive a gun. The aiming is simple yet very effective with considerably realistic physics. Meaning that the gun recoils realistic with each shot and head killers do extra damage. My only complaint about the game is that it does not allow the player to look down the scope and manually aim.

The game is very innovative for its time because its graphics are amazing for when it came out, the physics engine realistic, the story detailed and well thought out.

The game creates conflict by placing you in a strange world and giving you only one command: RUN! The steam reward structure is enjoyable because it allows you to show off your achievements in game to your friends. The other reward system is giving you a feeling being a major badass because you can kill an army of advance soldier with just a crowbar.

The game flows very well through having not out of game cutscenes and few loading areas. There is, however, one drawback in the game: no multiplayer.
