When I first heard of Oxenfree I thought it was one of those obscure 2d side scrollers that might be fun but then never want to play again. But when you start it reminds me of a movie, starting with a casual conversation. Showcasing the awesome voicework they put into it which really surprised me. Although we may not know the context of the conversation they really show off the characters personalities. The game also allows you to say your part of the conversation as Alex while the other characters are talking.
The bit that I played seemed quite fun and also beautiful. It's interesting that although the graphics aren't "state of the art" the presentation is good and at the very least have high-quality voice work. The game is reminiscent to monkey island or any point and click game, but this time with choices and such. I don't know much about this game but I look forward to what this game surprises me with.

The More and more I play this game the more I really enjoy myself. the story is good and the gameplay varies a lot to give the player a unique play style you can even customise Marcus to any way you want him to look aside from his race and gender.

The thing I found very odd was the abilities that you gained kind of contradicted who Marcus was or even dedsec. as you play you get the ability to take random NPCs money for yourself which is off from the whole; "helping people from the cTos system. there are some story elements that come up that almost justify the actions; such as a billionaire who made money by upping the price to a cure. (Martin Shkreli anyone?) which as the dialogue goes a long its like telling that it's okay to steal from someone who is "legally" stealing. In my mind, I felt good that I stole from him like I was helping society as a whole. but as I play along and also have the ability to steal from a graphic designer that makes only 60k a year who probably didn't do anything wrong then it's like are these guys really the good guys. it's amazing how a narrative; if told in a certain way can make you support a group of people that are "nice" but do societal crimes against citizens. not to mention that I find it odd stealing cars when Marcus doesn't look like someone who would. despite the irony that spills from this game I'm really enjoying it as a whole. I love the options you are given and multiplayer is also very fun but not something I would play religiously.

playing watch dogs 2 again and I'm really getting invested in the story. the missions have their own arcs kind of like in GTA but you really get to test out the hacker abilities and also get into the side missions. the little details they added in the city are mind blowing and I can't help when I look at a random NPC while playing. The thing I found funny though was that when playing Marcus you are allowed to shoot but I honestly feel like it's not part of his character so it's a little out of place.
otherwise, the game is quite intriguing and I look forward to playing more!

The game I decided to play for my first game log was Watch dogs 2. There were many things that interested me in this game when it was released last year. When they showed off the trailer I was really blown away from the hacking abilities and the overall design and detail of San Francisco. The only reason why it escaped my radar was that I hadn't played the first one and I thought it would pull me away from the experience of the world they tried to create.
When I saw it on the list I decided to give it a go and coincidently it was on sale online telling me that fate wanted me to play this game.

In my first hour of playing through the game. It immediately starts the main character Marcus trying to join the group Dedsec (the hacker group in the game) I was immediately drawn in as the music starts playing and Marcus shows off his cool hacking abilities. It was a cool way to hide the tutorial but also adding an element to the story. after playing through the first mission you really get a sense of Marcus's personality as he builds a relationship with the other members of dedsec. which is an important element to the story.
The game throws a lot at you once you're free to wander San Francisco; which they did quite beautifully. I drove and played around a little bit to get a sense of the controls and to look at the city. its very dense but varies in landscape (as far as a city is concerned) the melee combat was fun but I can see that being difficult to really rely on. I also don't feel bad for not playing the first one which was my fear but I'm sure at some point I may run into some cameos. overall I really enjoy the game and look forward to playing more of it.
