    War
    ====

    Requirements
    ------------
    War is a card game which can be played with 2-4 players. The game requires a standard deck of playing cards with the joker cards removed and an open playing area such as a table or floor. There is a variation of War that uses the joker cards; however, that variation will not be taken into consideration for this gamelog.

    Gameplay
    ------------
    The deck of cards is shuffled and evenly distributed face-down among the players. The players keep their cards in a stack and are not allowed to look at the cards. After the cards are dealt, the game begins. Each round starts with each player taking the top card of their stack and placing it face-up in the center of the playing area. The player who plays the card with the highest face value (ace being high) will win the round. The winner of the round takes all cards in the playing area and places them at the bottom of his stack, and the next round begins.

    In the event of a tie, a "war" occurs. When a war occurs, all players involved in the tie will place an additional three cards face down in the playing area followed by another face-up card that will determine the winner of the war. The player who plays the card with the highest face value will win the war and all cards in the playing area. The face-down cards will be revealed before the winner of the round places the cards in his stack. Additional wars will occur in the event of a tie during a war and will repeat until all ties have been resolved.

    When a player runs out of cards, he is eliminated. The last remaining player is considered the winner.

    Play Sessions (1 and 2)
    -----------------------
    I played two games of 2-player War. The first game was rather quick and lasted only about 5 minutes. My opponent won the first war that occurred and won two aces from the face-down cards. This seemed to be the deciding facter as we both later discovered that he had the other two aces. It didn't take long for him to slowly win my entire stack.

    The second game, however, was not so quick. The second game lasted about 35 minutes. Several times throughout the game, I was taken down to about 5 or 6 cards, but was able to win a few wars in a row and make a comeback. The ace was again the power card in this game. About 20 minutes into the game, both of us got a bit bored, but we decided to continue until the game was finished. Eventually the game finished with me losing again.

    Conclusion
    -------------
    The game was a little bit fun at first, but slowly got boring the more and more we played it. There really isn't a strategy involved as the outcome of the game is more just about chance. The game is fairly balanced as winning a few key wars can turn the tide of the game. The game length was definately a problem the second round. I would prefer not to play War again.
