My last entry will comment on the website statements and the ethical issues surrounding actaully publishing this game. In this country, America, we do have the actual right to produce a game such as this. The user is the one who ultimately choices his code of ethics to actually sit down and waste their time playing the game. The user is the one who puts their minds in the shoes of two of the most famous killers in American history. I am not defending however the production of this game, I am merely stating that they had the right to make the game. However, the ethical issue is why. Why would want to actually make the game of one of the worst days for teens ever. The artist statement based off the website is saying he wanted to illustrate and helped people understand why the kids did what they did, and he always wanted to make a video game. Well, I don't really find that to be a really good logical ethical reason to make a game such as this. While playing the game I actually got to kill a fellow classmate. If people saw this as normal, our society would be completely flawed in that you can just go around killing people. Its an ethical stance since the beginning of time. If I had to explain this game to another, I would tell them don't even waste their time playing it because it has no baring on the reality of life. This twisted 90's grunge rocked arcade game is one that should be axed with a hatchet.

One of the themes that can be decussed is the role of teens. The game is based in high school, so all the characters are teens. The media loves to single out this group and analyize them to death. Some of the most disturbing things is, the killers were actual teens. The reasons the kids say they did the event was because they were bullied and teased till they couldn't take it anymore. Their act of revenge however was something that a teen shouldn't even have to deal with. The act of bullying in the first place is very unethical in that it puts others down while attempting to make ones self feel better about life. This is very I find it illogical to make a game about this because say you have a kid in elementary school who has heard about the event. And with a simple Google search can find this game and play it. Now what his he/she thinking if they are the kids in the class who get bullied? Quite the situation the internet creates with the creation of games of such a vulgar event.

The part that really freaks me out is how they go through all the deails of the event. From the preperation, to the planting of the bomb, to the actual killing of the students, and how the killing happen with the selection of weapons. This makes for an interesting game playing experience because you actually get to walk in the shoes of two murders. I find killing to be unethical in a game like this compared to a game such as Call Of Duty because of the context. This game is insane because these two teens ACTUALLY did this. A game like COD you know going it is completely fictitious.

Based of the games authenticity I would have to say that if these minds were actually at work, that is a scary thought. These are some of the only kids who have been bold enough to actually go through with a nonsense thing such as shooing up a school.

The game Super Columbine is a game in which I couldn't even blieve was created in the first place.
During the game play the violence is just plan out messed up. The fact you actually go through the day through the eyes of the killers is just painfully dumb. In the game you walk around trying to avoid cameras and security to blow away some of the fellow students. This is completely ridiculous and illogical to create such a ridiculous game.
During the game, I noticed in the beginning some of the dialog mentioned Marlyn Manson. A man who came under a lot of scrutiny after Combine because of his lyrics and the boys said helped influenced. The media jumped on this bandwagon. This is completely false, the ethical basis of blaming an artist for the events that occurred makes no sense. He didn't actually tell them to do anything, its a song. The media is a very powerful tool and was completely abused with this event. The boys did what they did because they were misguided and not thinking.
My game playing experience was one of regret and questioning the logic of why I wasting my time playing a game which at first glance from the website I could see was going to be unpleasant.

    Feb 14th, 2009 at 11:40:52     -    Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas (PS2)

The last half hour game session of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was one in which I focused on two main questions. Is it ethical to play GTA: SA? Also, does GTA:SA have a moral code, and how would we describe it? While playing the game on my third go around I believe it is completely ethical to play the game and with that think this really shouldn't be an issue. Is it ethical to play sports games? Or what about any game in general? Just because a game has a violence and makes the brain enter a altar-reality doesn't mean its real. I think parents just have to mention to a child if they get the game, that is only a game and just use your common sense, while having fun of course. On my third go around I did a couple of things that would be fit as unmoral in our society such as, getting a hooker, walk into the police station and continuously kill cops, and jumped cars into the river, going for distance of course. These things aren't normal things that happen in our little world we like to call home, but in our alter-reality of video games, which were created by humans in the first place, these acts are just acts that will never hurt anyone at any time in anyway. Just the made up 2-D characters.
