    thisisnotjay's StarCraft: Brood War (PC)

    [February 9, 2007 11:43:39 PM]
Another part of this game is that it's strategy-based. It's a real-time strategy game, in which you also have to learn how to defeat your opponents through strategic warfare.
After playing it for the second hour, I realized that a new character is added every time you complete a level. This is a game of progression, because you are supposed to follow their storyline, and you can't advance without beating the level. The storyline isn't very intricate, but is very exciting, and quite grabbing. So far, I've just gone around finding crystals and teaming up with renegade terrans and Infested Kerrigan, who is a zerg with incredible damage. The only thing I'd probably change about this game is for Blizzard to pick up this project, and make a part 3 of this game. In other words, I wouldn't change this game at all.

[I just noticed that my gamelog is set in eastern time (3 hours ahead), and it's 9 right now. I have no idea how to fix this.]

There's basically two parts of this game: campaign and multiplayer. You can play the campaign mode to get familiar with the characters and storyline. Multiplayer is meant for expanding your gameplaying skills, and competing with other players. I chose to play campaign mode, because I haven't played this game in years, and I also like the storyline, which multiplayer will never get into.
This is a game of progression and is pretty basic. The rules are to carry out the instructions you are assigned at the beginning of the level (defeating the enemies' bases, retrieving a crystal, etc). There are also limitations, which are that you have a limited amount of resource from which you can build things, and you have a maximum capacity of 200 units that you can create. Basically, the whole point of the game is to advance and increase your civilization by building warrior units or buildings, and defeat the opposing team. There are 3 different races in this game: protoss, terrans, and zergs. Protoss are an advanced civilization that uses their own psi energy to attack and build structures. Terrans are like the renegade humans, and their form of weapons are guns, missiles, laserguns, etc. Zergs are the infested alien race that attack by spraying acid, or using their claws. All the races pretty much even each other out.
For the first hour, I chose to play the Protoss campaign. Basically, all I've done so far is defeat the invading zergs and retrieve crystals that contain enough energy to destroy all the zergs.

Great storyline and gameplay. It's based off the first Starcraft game, but with more advanced characters and newer heroes.
