Since I have played the game before, I began at a random save point. My first mission began with the introduction of the character OG Loc. The ethical choice faced in the specific mission completed —OG Loc—, is that although CJ and his brother think that OG Loc is a poser, they still feel a sense of loyalty to him. It is unclear if he was a member of the grove street family or if he is simply a childhood friend. In any case CJ refers to him as Jeffery, and it is Big Smoke that corrects him and tells him that Jeffery is now “OG Loc”, a “gangsta who has gotten locked up for everything and anything”. The mission to be completed consists of picking up OG Loc from the police station and then driving him to the house of a man named Freddy who apparently stole OG Loc’s “Rhymes.” It is also implied that when CJ and OG Loc arrive at Freddy’s house, he is having sex with a girl that was once involved with Loc, but he [Loc] doesn’t express any vexation at that development and is instead prepared to gun down Freddy over the supposed stolen rhymes. The mission consists of CJ pursuing Freddy on a motorcycle (who is also on a motorcycle) while Loc, who is CJ’s passenger, aims and shoots with an Uzi. The game play is rather boring, as Freddy takes a predictable route through alleyways and against traffic on the freeway. It tried four tries to complete the mission: the first was failed because there were times when CJ and Loc fell off of the bike, and Loc got lost, got stuck in between cars or a wall, or simply took too long to get back on the motorcycle. By the time he got on, Freddy had evaded his would be murderers. The more spontaneous and entertaining way in which the mission was failed was while driving on the freeway; CJ brushed an on coming vehicle at high speed and fell off of the bike, but once he was up, another car slowly ran him over—I tried to move but the car kept pushing CJ forward until his health meter ran out and the mission was over.
Again, within the game and in the context of this specific mission, CJ’s dilemma is that he is somewhat reluctant to help Loc; he thinks he is silly and a poser but he still assists him for the aforementioned reason: loyalty. Also, he owes Big Smoke the favor, so loyalty to a specific person is a little more pronounced in this case.
