    vgray12's NBA 2K12 (PS3)

    [September 13, 2012 01:03:30 PM]
I was bored so I decided to create a My Player mode account. This is one of the coolest game modes in NBA 2K12. For those who don't know, you create your own player and guide him through the path to NBA superstardom. You start at the bottom of the totem pole. A rookie fresh out of college trying to make a name for yourself.

My player is 6'6 athletic shooting guard with tattoos and Kobe sneakers on his feet out of George Mason University. All of the rookies scrimmage against each other in front of NBA scouts. A list of objectives are given to you at the beginning of each game. Examples of these objectives would be to get 2 steals, 1 block, score more than 10 points, do not let your man score more that 8 points, etc. These objectives get harder and harder the further you get in the game.

In the first couple of scrimmages I wrecked shop and my player played extremely well for the pro scouts. He got picked up by the LA Clippers. This is when the game gets tough. You play against the league's best in scrimmages in practice to determine your spot on the team. At this point my overall rating is like a 68. You start out at a 60 so I am making improvements. The game gets hard to complete objectives such as not letting my man score more than 8 points when I am guarding Eric Gordon.

Also while you are playing, your player is being graded by the things you do on the court such as make good passes, take good shots, make turnovers. These things can have a negative or positive affect on your grade. You always want to have a grade of C+ or better at the end of each game. Some objectives require you to get an A.

NBA 2K12 is one of the best games out right now even though it came out last year. The game mode I am currently trying to complete is the "NBA Legends" mode. In this mode you play in epic, historical games. You can choose from a variety of players such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, Isaiah Thomas, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, and a few more. By choosing one of these players, there is a historical game that you play which that player played in. Each of these games come with different difficulty settings which I have learned the hard way. After you complete the player challenge then that Hall of Fame player is unlocked for regular gameplay.

I've only done two challenges so far. The Michael Jordan and Bill Russell challenges. In the Jordan challenge you play as Micheal against the blazers in the 1992 Playoffs. The challenge was not so difficult. This is because Jordan is unanimously the best player in the game. He hardly misses jumpshots, does amazing dunks and layups, and plays amazing defense. I'm good at the game but playing as him makes me seem even better. The Bill Russell challenge was not as fun but was cool to play. Bill Russell played for the Boston Celtics in the 60s. The game graphics were turned to black and white as if you were watching the game from a television in the 60s. This made it very fun to play. Also there was no 3-point like so it was very realistic.

I'm excited to unlock more Hall of Fame players.
