    aleezy23's Mortal Kombat (360)

    [October 1, 2012 09:44:01 AM]
I played the recent Nether Realm studios fighting game, Mortal Kombat. This new installment in the series isn’t a mere throwback title compared to the arcade style. Yes, the fighters still fight on the 2D plane, the roster has the classic fighters, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, etc. and the arenas are similar to the older Mortal Kombat stages. Yet, the new featured, X-Ray moves, is a sequence that cracks skulls, shatters ribs, destroys organs and deals a significant amount of damage. Throughout the game if it’s the story or the Ladder. You will encounter many fighters, an army of Tarkatans, or taking on the powerful Goro or Shao Kahn. Combined with humor, blood and combos you never know what to expect.
One of the fighting modes in challenge mode is a tower of 300 challenges. This mode can be its own story and more. Within each of the challenges you will use a different character from the roster, along with perks such as, Test Your Might or Luck. Most of them are difficult and unexpected such as playing Johnny Cage fighting against his old producers, or having a zombie fight. I like this mode because like the story you go through all of the characters to help improve your skills. The combos, special attacks and beautiful detailed maneuvers make this game experience better than its past titles.
Each character has two fatalities, a “special” fatality and one stage fatality, which unfolds many possibilities to dismember your foe in a bloody fashion. For example, Sub-Zero will completely freeze your body feet to waist, thus ripping off your upper half. The characters themselves are very detailed as in the mist of battle they will bruise, bleed and the outfits will tear. Most of the stages are very scenic as you’ll see the background interact with each other bringing life to the environment.
This is defiantly one of the best of the Mortal Kombat series. I’m still a fan of Mortal Kombat 3, but when it comes down to the graphics and gameplay, in a split second it will make you awe to a gruesome bone crack.
