If you want a great free shooter, then look to Dead Trigger. Its a great zombie game with Xbox-360-like graphics. There are a variety of maps, game scenarios, and weapons in this game that wil lkeep me coming back for more. What is bad about the game is that earning gold to buy more advanced weaponry can be a long process. As far as the game plots go, this game is run of the mill. The hoard of zombies are coming and the main objective is to survive. This means stocking up on useful weapons and helpful items such as power-ups, weapon enhancers, and band-aids, completing missions, and creating alliances with other survivors (which I have not done yet). The first thing I notice about Dead Trigger is its beautiful graphics, comparing the game to an Xbox 360 or PS3 game. This game shows off stunning 3-dimensional graphics, a variety of gory zombies, and some smooth animation, made possible by the Unity 3D engine. I have played first-person shooters on a mobile device before, which includes Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (Halo-style game), Contract Killer, and other shooting games. This means that I am already familiar with Dead Trigger's control scheme. I walk around with the virtual control stick on the left side of the iDevice and control my character's looking and aiming by swiping around on the right. Reload, scope, and trigger buttons also sit on the lower right, making it easier to shoot and walk at the same time. Similar to campaign games, Dead Trigger features a map full of missions, with some more difficult than others. I sometimes play in scary spot like subways and warehouses. There are newly added Arena levels Deadly Corriders, where I have to survive for a variable amount of time. In one mission, my objective might be to simply survive for one minute and 50 seconds, while in another, I may be asked to recover lost items. There is variety in Dead Trigger, so the game doesnt keep getting repetitive too quickly. The game sometimes does get repetitive if I keep doing easy and medium missions. Sometimes, I did the harder missions so I could get past them and progress faster in the game, but I have not success in completing the harder missions. Also, the zombies will attack me at different angles and different speeds, making my job more difficult even in easy missions. Some of the hardest moments in the game involved staying alive for a long time, and recovering four or more items while zombies come from unpredictable angles and unpredictable paces. When a zombie comes close to me, I have to do a quick action event, which involves tapping displayed circles on a zombie's face to strangle him or keep from getting harmed. When zombies come in large hoards, my health is at jeopardy and I have to make sure I have enough ammunition to kill the zombies. Most of the time, killing zombies to continue my path gets boring and repetitive. If my health drops, I have to make sure I have enough bandages (the maximum I can have is up to five) to heal myself. So far, I have been killing zombies with a machine-gun-like weapon, which is boring. I did not have enough gold or cash to buy the more advanced weapons, so the game gets boring for me. In the missions that take place near a subway, I went up the elevator and there were walls blocking entrance at the top of the elevator. So I just went there and let zombies come at me and start killing zombies from there. This way, zombies would be coming only in front of me, not behind or right or left. That was one of the easiest strategies to continue on my path in the game. Another think I love is the variety of guns and weapons in the game. There are dozens of real-looking firearms like the Winchester rifle ans the classic Walther P99, as well as the Brain-mill (a hand-blender-like device). The bad thing is, if I want to experience all of these weapons, I will have to earn a lot of in-game gold and funds, which can by very difficult. Cash isnt very difficult to come by (as I want to save cash for academic purposes), but gold is earned at a very slow pace, unless I decide to complete complete tasks using Madfinger's partner Tapjoy. This partner lets me earn gold by liking Facebook pages, signing up for deals, and more. Many of these tasks are easy, but earning gold this way is very frustrating.
