    jp's Infinite Space (DS)

    [February 8, 2017 05:11:56 PM]
I'm mostly posting this now to refresh my memory of playing this game (and to lament the fact I didn't write about it when I did play it). I picked it up originally because someone on Penny Arcade had raved about it, it sounded really interesting, and it seemed to be reasonably accessible price-wise at the time ($20 used, I wonder what it's now).

If I remember correctly the game involved travelling the galaxy, engaging in ship-to-ship battles, and then doing stuff in space stations. I remember feeling frustrated because I didn't quite understand how the spaceship battles worked - these are capital ship type battles where you had to charge shields and fire at the right time kind of thing - so little movement and some planning rather than acrobatics and dogfighting.

There was some customization of the ships going on and some story stuff that had to do with that?

Anyways, I recall it was interesting, that the battles didn't make sense to me, and that it felt like a genuine RPG but at a slightly different scale. Less about character and more about the group + the ship.
