DayBreak94's GameLog for Prison Architect (PC)

    Thursday 15 February, 2018

For session three I made it a little further into chapter two. Prison Architect is an interesting game but, I take some issue with the tutorials and how to accomplish a certain task. I for some reason had a really difficult time assigning guards to patrol routes around the prison. I was following the directions in the tutorial but, for some odd reason, I just couldn't get them to do what the game wanted. I don't think that I will be able to finish the campaign during these three sessions however, I do plan to finish the game. It is interesting that the class discussion for today was about Kant and his view on consequences. When I play Prison Architect I am always considering the consequences of my actions and how they will affect the prison I am managing. I feel that an ethical issue that I can take away from playing this game is that our actions in life have consequences and the results of those actions matter. Plus overall I feel that Prison Architect is a very interesting representation in the medium of video games.

Good job Nick! You do a good job of analyzing the game on a micro level, with observations such as the character names, which is a good place to find supporting evidence for your OPA. You introduce an interesting topic with the consequences and results of actions. Try diving deeper into the moral implications of themes such as the consequences of actions and what moral implications the game introduces in regards to this topic.
