u1064504@utah.edu's GameLog for Prison Architect (PC)

    Thursday 15 February, 2018

This time playing Prison Architect I played more of the story mode. I got to a point where I could decide what kind of prison I wanted to run. I could meet the needs of the prisoners such as food, or I could suppress the prisoners by force. This game seems almost too realistic in its depiction of how a prison operates at least from what I know of prisons. I think that the game raises questions about how prisoners are really treated in prison and how prisons could theoretically be run. There seems to be only choices on how you want to run your prison but not who becomes a prisoner. I’m interested in seeing what the modding community has done for this game.

Great job William! You make some interesting observations on how Prison Architect is a balancing game as well as how the game simulates how prisons could be run. For your OPA, diving deeper into how the balancing game makes player’s reflect on the prison system or how Prison Architect introduces alternative methods for running a prison could be great places to start.
