    eymerin's GameLog for Hitman (PS4)

    Wednesday 29 August, 2018

While playing today my mission was to kill 2 people that are leading a revolt against the Moroccan government. The idea in killing them is that it will restore peace and make the country more stable. My big problem with this is that depending on who you ask, you may get different answers n whether the government needs to be overthrown. To most Americans, the American Revolution was absolutely necessary. So when I kill revolutionary leaders, am I helping to oppress the people they are fighting to free? And who am I to be making these decisions? For any governmental system, an national government that is not supported by it's people is not going to work. Eventually the people correct what is wrong should the opportunity present itself.

Great job Garrett! You raise a lot of interesting questions. Does a game mechanically focused on assassination "redeem" its emphasis on violence by punishing collateral damage? How much collateral damage is acceptable to accomplish a goal? Who gets to decide whether or not the ends justify the means? You've got a lot of great thoughts, I look forward to seeing what you write about.
