Status: Stopped playing - Got Bored
I started playing this game on Friday 9 July, 2004  //  I stopped playing this game on: Monday 9 August, 2004
Current opinion of this game
If you liked the 1rst one, this is just as good. No real surprises or advances.

I did a little "research" and it turns out that my next boss battle is the last one of the game. If I win, it will be the end of the game since I haven't obtained any of the bonus gems (there are 3, in different colors) that unlock 3 levels before the final/real boss. I can't be bothered to do any of that. So long Crash Bandicoot, it's been fun enough.

On a side note, I'm really curious about trying the multiplayer. It's a shame I don't know anyone who plays his GBA and would be willing to try this out. Snif. Snif.

Final Stats: 53% complete.

I've cleared all four worlds except for the boss of the fourth. This last boss is particularly annoying. He has two stages...I hate bosses with two stages. I hate them when you have to repeat everything over and over again.

In any case, to avoid my frustration I've gone back to previous stages in order to collect missing diamonds. (you get a diamond when you smash all the crates in a stage). I also picked up two time trial ahnks along the way. (I generally don't go for these at all..but oh well.) I'm actually on the verge of closing this game down and starting something else...we'll see how it goes.

On another note, I just realized that the developers of this game are the same ones doing the port of Doom 3 to the Xbox. Isn't that cool? Wow!

Current game stats:
54% Complete
21 Shards
10 Diamons
2 Ahnks

I'm at 35% complete, which isn't bad. I think. I've cleared the first two worlds and am probably almost done with the third.

Am I still as excited and entertained as when I started? Not really. Actually, I've been a bit frustrated and annoyed. I've been having to go back to "easy" levels to hoard lives in order to be able to pass levels later on. That's not really much fun. Also, and this may just be my being jaded, I'm not sure the controls are as good in this one as the first. Double-jumping seems to be particularly problematic. Could it be that I've played one platformer too many? After all, this game does not compare to Metroid or Mario, right?

I really enjoyed playing Crash Bandicoot on my GBA because it felt so much like the PSX versions (which I also enjoyed a lot). Thus, when I heard there was a sequel coming out I got pretty excited. (note that "excited" is not equal to "willing to pay $30-$40 for the game new"). When I saw this at Target for $10 (or was it $15) I couldn't resist and snatched it up immediately.

Thus far I haven't been dissappointed at all. Yes, it is more "of the same". Yes, there aren't any major innovations, etc. But the truth is, I don't care. I really liked the original game and I really liked the PSX games. Give me some more of that, fix up what didn't work and leave the rest the same. I don't mind. In fact, that is what I want!
