Current opinion of this game
Not very intuitive rythm and action. But the songs are fun!

I played the original Space Channel 5 on the Dreamcast for a while. Like, say, 20 minutes? I thought it looked fun and wanted to play some more, but never got around to it. Well, a few yeats later and I pick up the PS2 special edition (which has Space Channel 5 and its sequel, previously only released in Japan).

Hey, I paid less than $5 so you can stop laughing. The game isn't that bad at all either. It has a lot of cool retro kitsch style, the music is fun and the gameplay ain't exactly easy. (especially in the later levels)

I just finished playing the first 3 missions of the first game (I think there are only 4...) and I have to say that I do miss some of the visual feedback you get in other rythm and action games. This game is basically a memory game with rythm components tied in. Some of the long sequences can be, well, pretty long. Not only do you have to remember the sequence, but also get the keypress timing right! It may sound like I'm complaining, but really I'm not. It's a fun little game that will provide for light and relaxing entertainment. I hope.
