My son is really excited about this game and we've been playing it together for a few days now. Every day we play, he gets a little bit better which is good news. :-) We usually play one-on-one and I have to give him a bit of a head start in order to make it fun for both of us. Alternately, I will slow down a lot, let him get a ahead, chase him down, and so on.

What's been interesting for me about playing this way is that I have a completely new perspective on a lot of the game's levels. In particular, I started to notice a lot of "short-cuts" or alternate routes! Some of them, like those in the Princess Peach course (the one on the seaside) are weird, because they don't seem like short-cuts at all. I can't really think of an opportunity where I'd want to take the alternate routes in this map. Other maps have secret routes that require a mushroom (speed boost) in order to be used. I wonder how important these short-cuts are in order to win at the highest level of difficulty?

Another thing I realized is that this game doesn't have a lot of racetracks. Only 12. It seems. Ah, but I'm sure I must find a way to unlock more. I'm not sure how far along I got, but I don't think I ever got the gold cup in the 150cc category. I must go back and try again...my son and I could use some new racetracks to play on. :-)

I was looking for a few minutes to burn so I decided to practice a bit more...I played all 3 of the 50cc championships and got gold, gold, silver. Aaargh! I wanted gold on the last one too!

I'm basically trying to see if there is anything cool I can unlock. I guess I should better check gamefaqs...but hey, I said I had some time to burn, right?

I've played a few more rounds with a friend last night and this game definitely has some fun to it. I wasn't terribly impressed the first time around but it must be my experience with Mario Kart GBA (Super Circuit? I can't remember...) that turned me around.

Anyways, there are some INCREDIBLE tracks later on. (I hadn't even played the last cup...). THe Donkey Kong one (with cannon shoot and all) blew me away with how neat it is. (and it isn't that easy either!!!).

I have yet to explore the greater subleties of picking cart, driver and rider, but we'll see how that goes. It seems like you'd always want to pick the "right" pair. (in other words, the default match...).

I got this as part of my pre-owned GC deal. (I bought a GC off someone, with all their games and stuff). I was really excited about it because I though it would be a great game to play together with my wife. Well, that didn't quite turn out. My wife got really dizzy (we played co-op).

Since then, I've played a few races and I'm not really impressed. I'm not sure if it is because I'm jaded or if the game is simply uninspired. I can't really say that there is anything particularly wrong with it, but it just doesn't seem incredibly "wow!". It more, "ho-hum". Everything is ok, everything is reasonable and there doesn't seem to be any spark.

I'll admit I haven't played it that much, but still.. I have higher hopes for some of the minigames with 4-players.
