Current opinion of this game
Great fun. Practice and you shall get better. Practice a lot...and then some more.

New game temptations have stolen me away from this game. No, I did not beat the super cup (special cup?) in the 100cc category. I didn't even try the 150cc. I did, however, get at least one time trial! Yay!

This game just takes a lot of practice...and I did get better at it. I'm just looking for something that will always stay different. I do look forward to playing this with some friends! (like that's ever going to happen...sigh)

I've just won my first two gold cups in the 100cc category. Yeah!

I've spent some time "training" with a different racer and getting a better feel for the circuits. I'm not reasonably proficient with Bowser, who is the slowest racer of them all (in terms of acceleration at least).

I decided to try Bowser because he's the opposite of how I tend to play racing games. I'm, ashamedly, the kind of player to doesn't let go of the accelerator (ever) and makes up for time lost in crashes with high acceleration. With Bowser I've had to drastically change my style. This is good (I'm learning something about racing games!)... for now, I'm looking forward to finishing the different championships and unlocking some of the extras.

Oh, something I forgot to mention...

This game has an EXCELLENT feature! When you are playing a championship (which is 5 races long!) you can "restart" a race 3 times. So, if you completely messed up and want to restart, go ahead! This is a really considerate feature for people (like me) who play "on the go" and may sometimes end up losing a race because of having to look up from the screen in order to step of the train.

Whoooeee!

I've finished all the championships in the 50cc category, EXCEPT for the "special" one. The one you unlock when you win all the others. Dang, it's not easy!

I really need to practice some more and learn the differences between each of the cars. I assume the handle differently and whatnot...but we'll see.

To erase your game data, hold L, R, B, and Start as you turn on the system.
Note that once you erase the data, it can NOT be recovered, so be sure you
want to delete your stuff before trying it!

..and yes, it also works on the DS! (when playing the GBA game using a DS)

A funny coincidence? I started to play Mario Kart GBA on the same that that Mario Kart DS launched (in the US). Heh. I do think that the DS version will be waaaay cooler because of the whole wi-fi internet play and whatnot. I'm really excited about that since it sounds really neat!

Anyways, here I am playing Mario Kart GBA and wondering what all the fuss is about. (this game got RAVE reviews). I've decided to give it a little time to grow on me and I'll try to make my way up to the more difficult levels. Thus far I have only one gripe... I can't reset the saved-game information on the cart!! Since I bought it pre-owned there is a lot of content that has been unlocked and whatnot, but I would much rather unlock it myself! (I also don't have the manual, so I'll have to search online to see it there is some "secret" button combo that will reset the cart)
