Dig Dug: Digging Strike (DS)

Status: Finished playing
I started playing this game on Friday 1 December, 2006  //  I stopped playing this game on: Sunday 10 December, 2006
Current opinion of this game
There's more to this than initially meets the eye, but some of the controls take getting used to. In the end, it isn't really that exciting.

I finished the last level...ho-hum.. and then I played a bit more. I was sort of hoping to figure out what all the little power-ups were for..but the I realized that I didn't really care and that it hadn't even been necesarry for me to know what they were in order to beat the game!

My final thoughts are that there are some good ideas to be had, but there is definitely not enough polish. In particular I liked how there is a meta-strategy thing going on where there are things happening on both screens at once and you need to coordinate some actions. Sinking a peg at the right moment...that sort of thing.

I've been playing this for a few days now and I'm still trying to get used to some control issues. This game is basically Dig Dug with powerups and some additional variety. There is an overworld/strategic element which is interesting, though not terribly compelling (to me, at least). Anyways...one of the neat things is that..

Mr. Driller is Dig Dug guy's son!

LOL!

Yeah, the characters from both games are related..and Mr. Dig Dug (I can't remember his name) is very annoyed that no one remembers him from the "Dig Dug Incident" that happened many years ago, everyone talks about his son!
