Current opinion of this game
Interesting mostly for nostalgia and history. Doesn't quite hold up anymore but the songs are still as charming as ever.

I guess I should be disappointed by the fact that I finished this game in under two hours. I kid you not.

I'm actually surprised by how hard it is and I feel that had I not "cheated" I would have been quite frustrated with the game. I guess that nostalgia does a lot for you since people mostly have good memories of this game while I'm no remembering how poor the player feedback is and how coarse the beat detection seems to be. When I say "cheated", what I actually mean is that I remember that you could improvise by pressing random buttons on some kind of beat. I don't remember if there were improv rules of any sort, but I do remember that many songs were much easier to clear by improvising instead of playing "regular". It wasn't quite that way on the PSP, but hey...I still finished in under two hours!

In all, however, I'm not really sure why I'm not disappointed. Perhaps it's because the songs are so much fun and I enjoyed hearing them again? Hmmmm...

Oh, one last thing I didn't remember: not only does the music on each level change depending on your overall success level, but also different parts of the animation and even the "script". I remember the alternate ending of Mr. Onion's song...but not the subtle changes in the other stages.
