The whole experience kind of fell apart for me when I got a point where I lost sense of what I was supposed to do and how to get it done. I just wasn't able to understand the feedback I was getting once I reached the point where I was sending people off to battle and all that. Sigh.

This game has been sitting on my shelf forever (and a day). I decided to give it a go over the weekend and I was able to play for about 120 minutes or so. Well worth it, in my opinion.

It's somewhat hard to describe the game, since it doesn't easily fit into existing tropes. There's bits that remind me of GTA (open world, driving around, there's a big map you can mark objectives on), but I'm also reminded of Freedom Fighters (order people around, tell them what to do, hope for the best). Most of all, I've enjoyed the setting. It's incredibly well done and absolutely a joy to explore. This is coming from someone who isn't into heavy metal - but recognizes a lot of the imagery (skulls, chrome, demons, etc.). I thought that Jack Black's characterization would wear thin quite quickly, but it's been the opposite.

I don't have high hopes for the gameplay - after all, I think the game was knocked around a lot for that. However, I am really enjoying the (apparent) depth of the setting. It is its own peculiar version of a fantasy world - and it's surprisingly refreshing!
