This is one of those games that works best (and worst!) when you have the full complement of 4 players. I tried playing solo for a bit and it just didn't work as well. I got the feeling (could be wrong!) that the difficulty doesn't scale that well when you go solo...which is weird. On the other hand - there's a lot of game design elements that only work when you use them to support your teammates.

This is also the worst part of the game experience (for me): how easy it is to take down an entire team with an incompetent (or trigger happy) teammate.

I guess the main issue is that it can happen so fast that you might not even notice when you're the culprit - or the victim! I wish there was better/greater UI support for some of that? I do think that team fire can add a lot to the experience, but it's the feeling that the fast-action based gameplay can make this extra-problematic...

So far, this game is fantastic. I'm really enjoying how it's presented and how some of the gameplay works. In terms of presentation, it's an homage to Starship Troopers that might be too close for some? And Starship Troopers is a guilty pleasure movie for me...so that's a win all around.

As for the gameplay, I'm enjoying the "perk system" - where you have certain bonus things but you need to activate them via inputting a series of button entries (e.g. UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT LEFT UP). It's a neat system that will really get juicy when the game ramps up in difficulty.

kudos for original design to Rodrigo Barria
