Finished it! (and the DLC)

The whinging really ramps up towards the end - I was starting to get super tired - the game didn't get less crass, maybe more and I began to feel increasingly embarrassed to play it! (my wife called it the worst game ever - and that's solely on the swearing).

Gameplay-wise it gets more interesting as you unlock new abilities. One in particular lets you "grab" things which you then need to manipulate (move around) in order to solve puzzles mostly. I was surprised by how well the controls (with "looking" in VR now being one?) worked - and there are some fun action moments once I realized that (of course) I could control Trover while at the same time grabbing things in the world! In fights for example some of the enemies drop items that you can grab and fling at other enemies (often) killing them outright. So, there can be a bit of cognitive challenge in trying to do two things at once - and coordinate them well. That was really fun, and worked really well with VR. They got the "looking" part really down.

Head movements were also part of gameplay with characters often asking you what you thought or wanted to do - you had to nod or shake your head for yes/no questions which also worked pretty well.

While I still think that Astro Bots is a high-water mark for VR platforming style games, Trover comes pretty close and also has some inventive gameplay. It's a real shame about all the profanity and crass humor and so on. It does have some great gags and a lot of them play on the typical sort of things players will do (e.g. dropping TV in tub results in electrocuted character, killing monsters inside a pen - whoops, they were pets!, and more)

This is SO CRASS it's really embarrassing. Painfully so. It's unfortunate because the gameplay is much better than I was expecting, it's got more depth (to gameplay) than Accounting+, but is much worse in terms of vulgarity. It starts to grate after a while (I think I'm currently on the last or next to last significant gameplay area), but mostly because there is so much swearing and whining.

But, it's ocassionally really laugh out loud funny. I'm torn.
